Alexia it was reported by a Dev in terms saying.  You can tell them to plant one on you.   So I take it kissing is open to happen whenever you decide for your LI when at that point.  I think.  I could read more into it but that is my take.

Sorry to but on in but I though the kissing were saved for 'safe zones' only at least thats how I understood it to be and if I recall correctly that went for talking with the companions in general to avoid things like in DAO where your trying to loot bodies accidentally click on someone and open up a conversation with them.

As long as I get to initiate affection myself and not depend on limited cut-scenes I'm a happy girl.  I hate, hate one sided relationships.  I'm an affectionate girl, and I don't think giving gifts really count.  One thing I am not, is a girl bought with gifts and I hate the idea of relying on gifts.  I like to give and receive affection and affirmations thereof.  Gifts without love are meaningless bribery.  Not that I hate gifts, and gifts given properly with real love and consideration are amazing.  But I hate gift giving as a mechanic, and in life, I dislike relying on it, and if I start getting more gifts than genuine affection, something starts smelling really wrong.

I doubt this is going to happen but I still have a small hope that there will be at least one spontaneous kiss from our LI preferably after a tough battle like beating a big bad or taking back a keep or doing a thought to be impossible mission. I've got too much of a weak spot for things like that but I would love at least one scene where my PC's LI pulls them in for a smooth or my PC pulls in their LI for a smooch

Oh I'd love that.  The best affection is the affection that comes when you least expect it.  Like when you're playing a video game at the computer, and you suddenly find some arms lovingly wrapped around you from behind with a simple kiss on the head and a genuinely interested "You kill those darkspawn" or something else relevant.

I'm usually not into romance at all I tend to roll my eyes at most love stories in books and movies but for some reason its different with games and one of my favorite games have a lot to do with getting married and raising a family in between exploring the vast ocean Romance in games tends to draw me in a lot more than other media. I don't care how many DA games it takes I would love so much to have my LI just grab me in for a kiss or hug after something tough or if there was a mission when we got separated from the party and when we reunite your LI rushes in before anyone else can say a word and just holds you. Aw goodness that might actually make me tear up slightly and that does not happen often

I admit not too much relationship experience myself, and a lot of being taken advantage of unappreciated when I have.  But I'm still a romantic at heart.

As for me, not completely sure who you're asking.  I've been there and done it.  It was wonderful for a few months, til the butterflies died and reality set in...  most amazing relationship I ever had in the beginning, ended in cheating fiance with best friend.

 

I still like the romances though, because I know what the feeling is like, and I like to think how it could have been had we actually been as compatible as our feelings tricked us to be.  I think they can be beautiful, even if often ending bad.

 

Same as wartime romances can be beautiful even if such relationships rarely survive peacetime.

I personally don't like them very much though a movie I do really like is based on a love story just like that like a fantasy Romeo and Juliet with Water and Fire Spirits though to be fair most of that love I have for the movie is aimed right at an adorable female fire spirit side character who I am still convinced was in love with the female lead. Other than that exception I don't dig that idea too much but it mostly depends how they play it out I guess if its something like Ariel and Eric NOPE but something like off a game I like where one of the possible LIs gets to know the female character before ever seeing her and then when he meets her he knows he loves her then I find that to be a little bit better since they did talk and it wasn't exactly instant. (sorry I keep using this game as an example!)

Ok.. in DA2, (sorry this will go off topic a moment)  I finally decided to take someone other than Isabela with me to see Aveline... doing the courting thing. Merrill talks about only needing a dowry if courting him. Merrill...   OH! Your courting him!    I died laughing.   That was adorable.  I wonder if we will get to see things like that in Inquisition.  Sorry.. first time I didnt take Isabela with me on that.

That's kinda what happened with me.  We kinda crossed paths on the net randomly a lot, we were semi friendly.  Each had a rough period found out we lived 30 minutes from each other, decided to meet, talked long into the night, and were attached at the hip for months afterwards.

I honestly scoffed at the idea the 1st time I heard about it . I was like 'what ? Pfff you can't fall in love in 2sec ...no way !ridiculous' . But what would I know right ? lol It took an actual romance mod to litteraly change my perception . And I admit , even if it isn't my favorite (I like working hard for your romance).....I still think when it is done well (None die in the end , no romeo and Juliette)....it can be amazing to watch . 

I think in the end..it's really about leaving yourself more open to the possibilities . You learn alot and end up surprised which is half the fun .

Fallin in love can be a possible first moment thing... but... staying in love, keeping love... keeping romance is something that would still need done... though. 

 

I find love at first sight more in the lines of lust at first sight so far.  Sorry... its cause I didnt find someone with love at first sight yet, and dont think that will happen.  Though I do believe in commitments and such, and they require both to continue it.

 

I took Isabela all the time... about 6 times.. this is number 7.. which I didnt this time.

 

EDIT:  Deciding to test them all to see who says what on the matter now.    Curious.   First time I tried doing it this way as well to see who has what to say.  I really do hope Inquisition has something similarly interesting.  EDIT:  Anders figured it out and said why dont they just get a room, life is too short. EDIT ADD:  Varric and Isabela both are in the same boat on it.  I prefer Isabela's.

If I recall correctly from my game the female lead automatically turns down this character when he says he loves her (its a different system for romance you need to get up to levels and with each level you get a little cut scene with them) since she did just get her body back and all and would rather get to know people as her instead of them just kind of knowing her voice if that makes sense. I found it really cute how he kept trying anyway and if you do go with him he's really adorably happy when his affection is returned

Well to be fair, it's not really true love.  Real true love is when a relationship gets past that butterfly stage, adapts, and becomes stronger and lasts until death.  It's complicated and rare.  Is more an infatuation, which a lot of people become addicted too, jumping from infatuation to infatuation.  That initial period does feel amazing.  The romance of true love at first sight is the hope of eternal and instant infatuation from the moment you lay eyes on each other til the day you die.  Isn't truly realistic, but is a nice dream.  And such relationships do sometimes survive butterfly death.  It can happen.
