... how would you like to see a romance for the Lady Inquisitor play out?

Something new.

There are lots of romantic archtypes I've missed that I'd like to experience. I wonder what it would be like to romance a dark and tormented type like Fenris/Anders and have her give into her overwhelming passion for my PC. An ice queen like Miranda/Morrigan who is cold at first but ends up showing you her tender, loving side. Or someone who very gallant and romantic, who'll woo me and promise to always be faithful.

I find love at first sight more in the lines of lust at first sight so far. Sorry... its cause I didnt find someone with love at first sight yet, and dont think that will happen. Though I do believe in commitments and such, and they require both to continue it.

I know a couple of people who fell in love immediately, got married in under three months, and are still married after more than a decade.

I know a couple of people who fell in love immediately, got married in under three months, and are still married after more than a decade.

My husband and I fell in love at first sight.  We were engaged within 3 months and the only reason why we didn't marry right away was because we wanted to live together for awhile first.  We've been together for over ten years.  There is no doubt in our mind that we fell in love the first time we met.

What would be fitting is love at first sight, then working together to establish deep commitment and trust.  You can love someone right away, but that doesn't mean you know or trust them.

For a relationship in the games going forward: Learning from each other would be a big one; suppose we could have a scene of the Lady Inquisitor doing some friendly sparring or training with their lover.  For example, show a romanced Iron Bull sparring with a warrior Femquisitor.   Or have a romanced Sera show a rogue Femquisitor knife throwing, and have a conversation based around that.  Or have a scene like in the sparring scene in ME3, between Vega and Shepard, even though Vega wasn't a LI.  It was a great way to do a bit of exposition on Vega's backstory and emotions, and allowed the player some more personality with Shep based upon the response.  I guess I want to see more of the PC and their lover helping each other as equals, regardless of gender.

I'm still pretty sick, so sorry if I'm not making much sense.

@Natashina, sorry you're so unwell, hope you get better soon.

I also like the idea of sparring or skill demos for PC with LI's though I guess it would be something different with Josephine. At the moment I'm not certain but I suspect my first inquisitor will romance Josephine and I'd definitely prefer her to be off doing her thing, organising allies, supplies and staving off diplomatic and potentially other disasters while I'm off fighting and for her to have confidence in my PC while still showing concern and having the option to be confident in her while still expressing concern that she'll get out if some negotiations go badly.

I haven't played Leviathon DLC but Garrus traps your apartment even if you're a femshep in a romance with someone else so I saw that as Garrus protecting his squad especially after losing his team on Omega in 2. I have fun imagining what security additions he'd add to the apartments of the other squadies, especially Tali, Liara or Vega. And if Liara decides to return the favour by bugging his appartment to ensure his safety using her shadow broker resources... I can see them driving each other nuts.

Oh... and I nearly forgot, yes femqunari looks gorgeous AlexiaRevan

For someone like Josie, a battle of wits.  Just one scene.  How about showing off a prowess in history, something that can be invaluable when calculating troop and supply lines, not to mention for ambushes?   That can tie into the next area she's organizing as well.

For example: Remembering a forgotten battle in an area where the victor was able to take advantage of terrain.  Or knowing where the most fertile lands are in that area, due to remembering some history about the area.  Josie could in turn start quizzing you for other details, testing your knowledge.  That would also be some good insights to her character as well.   It's still sparing, only on a mental level.   It wouldn't have to take up too much screen time.  That was my idea, anyhow.

Yeah that works for me, I really like that idea. I figured for Josie it would be more a question of wits though it will be an interesting dynamic with my fem qunari mage so I think that would make for a really cool scene. Actually I think there's a lot of potential in this combination so it will be interesting to see how it all plays out in November...  :D

Oh and to answer your earlier question (I think it was you who asked what we'd like to see next in race/class) I'd like to see a female dwarf rogue preferably with a darker skin tone because even though I rarely succeed at playing dwarves I like them in game and since we don't have an awesome female dwarf companion a female inquisitor will do. I'd also like her to be voiced by Sumalee the american VA (Yes I'm pretty sure I got her name wrong and it would only get worse if I went for the surname too, our female VAs sure have tricky names to spell consistantly at least at first :P ) just so everyone can hear how she sounds and those who want to go with her first up or haven't decided get their chance to hear how they'll sound.

Really I've been lucky in the female inquisitor so far because they've shown off a female qunari mage voiced by Alix which is my first inquisitor, all I need now is to get my hands on the cc so I can start playing with how she'll look. ;)

Edit: Spelling... it's seriously bad atm.

Woohoo for dwarf love!!  The dwarven lady is seriously underrepresented in much of fantasy stories.  From what I've seen of the new female dwarf models in DA:I , I'd love to see one in action for a trailer/ad.  I'm also all about the darker skin tones as well.  Especially since we'll be a surface dwarf this time around.  I guess when it comes to the daggers, I've seen plenty of dual wielding dwarves in DA.  A badass dark skinned brunette with a crossbow, a scar and a smirk, with The Hat?  Oh yes please.

Backtracking a bit, I'd love for the "sparring" like scenes to happen regardless of LI status, but have some romantic/flirty undertones to it if the romance is locked in.  Also, I guess it would go back to showing the PC and their lover learning from each other.  It would show a healthy romance scene that, for once, doesn't directly involve either the PC or the LI playing councilor to each other.

No worries about the spelling.  You should see me when I don't have a spell check.   :P

Yeah sparring scenes for non LIs or someone not locked in would be good too. One with Vivienne as my qunari mage would be very... interesting to say the least I think.   I hope we get good friendship content with all the companions as well as good romance content with the LIs and that we don't have to play councillor very often if at all.

Spelling is something I am usually pretty good at so it annoys me when my internal spell checker leaves the building so to speak! I have to go back and fix it when I have typing fails too (and that happens a lot but it's the spelling that bugs me not that my fingers missed the right key). As you may have guessed texting used to drive me nuts though I'm pretty much okay with it now I just mostly leave texting abbreviations to phones only... sigh, it is something of a curse.  :(

Mind you I love words too much to be annoyed by the OCD tendancies for long so it's all good.  :D

@themikefest I plan on starting a female dwarf eventually I just don't know that I'll finish her play through. Hope we get a trailer with her though... or gameplay footage would work too wielding a bow could be interesting as I don't think any inquisitors have done so in what we've seen yet, it's usually been Sera hasn't it? I could be missing something though.

We're going to have to start a thread to show off our Lady Cadash inquisitors.  I was tempted to play a dwarf when I heard that multiple races were announced, but the little easter egg that ties my PC to Shale sealed the deal.   :D

@Tayah  Well, the devs have talked repeatedly about writing the friendship arc to be as strong as the romance arc.  They have done an excellent job with that before.  I know that some of the members of the ME team have been working on DA:I.  The way the friendships were handled in that series was just amazing.  I have played the series twice, once with Garrus as a friend and once with Garrus as a romance.  While there was a couple of added lines and such, I never felt like I was shorted on the friendship arc.  And, despite my lingering bitterness over no dwarven LI, the friendship with Varric was awesome.

I don't believe that we've seen an Inquisitor with a bow.  It may not be Bianca, but I'd like to see a lady wielding a badass crossbow of her own.  I would have gone with a crossbow wielding dwarf for an avatar, but I couldn't find any that weren't either really huge or in an "action grrl" pose.  So I went with more of a genetic female archer instead.

@Natashina I like your avatar actually (keep forgetting to say so... though now I have  ;) )

Yeah I know they're talking about good friendship paths and I hope that's the case, in ME2 if you weren't romancing a character they cut you off at a certain point and since I liked talking to Jack, Tali and Miranda I found that incredibly annoying. But yeah I like good friendship arcs and I thought Varric and Aveline both had pretty good friendship arcs in DA2 so hopefully we get an expansion of that. Do we know if the inquisitor can use a crossbow or is that restricted to Varric only again (when playing rogues I would have loved to have a crossbow of my own... I loved the banter where Isabella tries to get Bianca to come to her, my rogue would have tried that too if she could have :P ).

Oh man.

I hope for the ball scene we can pick between outfits. (a pimped out dress would be very appropriate there).

It'd be nice to get a trolly option where we could wear full armor too. I can see a few of my PCs picking it XD

Oh I would love to have some sort of dress Uniform like guys wore back in the day if they were military officers, otherwise? Ugh. You guys should get the option for a dress, I just hope it is opt in. even my imaginary characters that I play wearing dresses make me uncomfortable. i spent my whole teenage years rebelling them and I have had to deal with so many comments, I just refuse to wear one on principal.

Augh I want BOTH of these things.  Fancy ball gown and dress uniform.  Military dress uniforms are so attractive on any gender.  But I also love the idea of my big warrior Inquisitor getting fancied up in some ruffles.

...I guess if its something like Ariel and Eric NOPE...

No one takes a jab at The Little Mermaid near me and goes unscathed!  :P

I actually think that is a well done example because even if they become infatuated with each other the moment they met (like teenagers and romantics so often do, and it's not like they lack reasons to) they have to get to know each other before really hitting it off.

Hey I won't dis anyone for not liking the movie I just don't The Little Mermaid and The Princess and Frog are just two movies I can't get into.

It had to work that way for Eric I suppose but Ariel sold her soul to be with a guy she never spoke to that's why I find it as a bad example of that type of love cause for me personally I don't like the idea of 'I've never spoken to this person before but I'm going to put everything I know and love on the line for them in hopes to win them over' Again just my opinion I don't mean to bash anyone who does like that movie.

I'm kidding  But yeah, The Little Mermaid is my favorite Disney movie.

Well, to that I will reply that:

  1. Ariel would have done it even if Eric wasn't a factor (What would I give if I could live out of these waters? What would I pay to spend a day warm on the sand? And that was before she knew him). At most he was a catalyst, but not the original cause.
  2. Again, she's a teenager. (Some) young people do this all the time.

But hey, I'm biased because I love that movie and Ariel is my favorite Disney princess

Ha I can understand the reaction then :D I get the same way with Beauty and the Beast.

I will agree with both points just my problem is, is that the movie doesn't (to me) do a good job at conveying that its more of wanting to be human than wanting to be human to be with the first human I saw. Also that Ariel doesn't learn anything in the movie bugs me slightly too but that's me being bias because I don't care for the movie and am harsher with it. (That and I really liked Ariel in the Disney cartoon and kind of wished she was more like that)

Well in the original story, the whole point is how a child should obey her father, and the end results was her becoming sea foam because of failing in the bad deal with Ursella...

Since I never actually read the book only saw the Disney movie that's all I have to base my opinion of her on (that and that pretty cool cartoon) Though love at first sight is kind of a Disney thing so I guess I can't judge too harshly.

Unrelated but I would actually love to see Disney make a movie based off a story and leave in the grim parts that would be quite interesting course I'm a strange person and would get too much enjoyment showing that to my little cousin >>;

Um...don't eat me alive  But I for one would like to move beyond the 'sparring' part . Why? because it has been done before . In Kotor 2 , you can spare with the Handmaiden and if you keep sparring with her (and it is hinted there sexual tensions and all) she fall for ya . In Mass effect 3 , the sparring between Vegas and Femshep....I saw it as me kicking his butt when he almost got Liara and everyone killed . heck , he missed the whole group barely . Then in DAO Leliana teach ya bardy stuff but it is fade to black .

I'm not against it per se , but I would like to see new stuff instead of recycled stuff . And if it has to be there for 1) I hope I get the option to say no and 2) Would be nice if it was class gated . Kinda like being able to shoot that bottle with Garrus even though you are an adept or Vanguard .

I admit I can't come up with much . But instead of sparring..I like mini competition maybe ? It doesn't have to be with the same weapons though . Kinda like if Sera dare my Qunari they can hit a target.........and big surprise , she doesn't use a bow but throw an axe and hit it .

Also they could hunt together . I don't know..make trap? exchange tips ? Go dip in a lake ? Arm wrestling ? play cards ? take bet who can lift something heavy ? Tell a story of their home , and see the difference ? After all...they are all from different corner of the world right ?

Funny how people is kinder with the stuff they like and harsher with they stuff they don't like quite as much, huh?  :D

I agree Ariel doesn't change. But she's not supposed to. The one changing in this story is Triton. The big message here (the way I see it) is along the lines of "Parents, you shouldn't refuse to listen to your children or to let them choose their own paths in life, less they become bitter and instead of asking for your help go to creepy, vaguely ethnic (seriously, what's up with that?) strangers for assistance."

It's like how in Beauty and the Beast, Belle is not the one that changes (in my opinion) but the Beast.

I'm starting to think this is the reason why it is hard for me to come up with a female Inquisitor I like. I can't picture Ariel type characters killing demons or leading organizations

Oh I know what you mean.  Sparring is too cliche and common.  I'd like to see party members have a just doing stuff together scene.  Telling stories by a campfire, playing cards, going shopping.  Anything frivolous and purely about fun and being together.
