Is funny how disney completely reversed the moral of the story, no?

They're not known for being consistent.

Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs: Don't trust that weird old lady selling apples.

Cinderella: Totally trust that weird old lady to fix your life.

The Little Mermaid: We are who we choose to be.

The Lion King: REMEMBER WHO YOU ARE!

That dwarf Inquisitor seemed to be thinking about it in the concept art!

Since I never actually read the book only saw the Disney movie that's all I have to base my opinion of her on (that and that pretty cool cartoon) Though love at first sight is kind of a Disney thing so I guess I can't judge too harshly.

Unrelated but I would actually love to see Disney make a movie based off a story and leave in the grim parts that would be quite interesting course I'm a strange person and would get too much enjoyment showing that to my little cousin >>;

If you've only seen the Disney versions of Hans Christian Andersen or Brothers Grimm stories, then reading them will either ruin your childhood or give you a whole new appreciation for how creepy kids stories used to be or maybe both.

On topic

I'd like to be able to dance with an LI. DA:I looks to have at least 1 ball, so I'd love to be able to chill out on the dance floor with an LI. It would be a nice break from the whole saving the world thing and would provide a nice intimate moment in a potentially very serious situation

I was disappointed that I couldn't take Liara to Purgatory in ME3, as I would've loved a scene with them relaxing on the dance floor since a lot of their romance is quite serious.

Considering how they painted Liara like a nerd or if you will...bookish . I don't think she would've liked Purgatory (I did cose of the music).......would have been nice if you could have a moment with her , maybe not talk prothean stuff but I dunno . She could talk about her life in Thessia , how it was going to Universitie and such . Or Talk about the differents world she saw in her search of protheans ruins .

- Ohh and the thing that drove me mad! Bonker even ! was if you romanced Kaidan you could talk to her about YOUR worry to her . BUT if you romanced anyone else you never get anything like that.....-

If you play as a Qunari (And I don't mean just physcly looking Qunari , if YOU role play it) are you guys going to make a Qunari that kinda follow the whole 'Nothing is ever wasted' philosophy ?

And if you play a Dwarf ...will you say 'Sod it !' ?

If you play Elf will you use Elvish words?

Well in the original story, the whole point is how a child should obey her father, and the end results was her becoming sea foam because of failing in the bad deal with Ursella...

Actually I encourage everybody to give the original story a read, because it's one of my favorite fairy tales, and not very long.

http://www.andersen....eMermaid_e.html

I got a very different message from the story (she actively chooses to become sea foam because she's unwilling to murder the prince to undo the sea witch's spell; by doing so, she gains the right to earn her own human soul through charitable deeds.  She's not punished for her choices, she's granted what no other mermaid has).  Buuuut this is getting way off-topic.

Oh I know what you mean.  Sparring is too cliche and common.  I'd like to see party members have a just doing stuff together scene.  Telling stories by a campfire, playing cards, going shopping.  Anything frivolous and purely about fun and being together.

I'd love any of those things.  Seeing the characters do Important Quests is great, but I hope we'll also get to goof off with our partners too.

Oh absolutely, I'd have loved to see the look on parents faces when Mulan is made to honorably commit Sepaku in the end. :D

Eh? Mulan was Chinese not Japanese, and Wikipedia tells me the original poem has a happy ending.

Oh right it was Chinese, they had a different name for a similar thing.  It did have a happy ending.  She was able to die with honor despite breaking so strongly from tradition and law, which was a big thing that would be lost on western audiences.  Unless I've been poorly informed on this for years, which is possible, not an expert on this subject.

As far as I know the Chinese didn't practice Seppuku, which is a specific thing. Though honourable suicide is not an uncommon concept across various cultures.

I'm not familiar with the story, Wikipedia says that the original poem has her return home and reveal herself but doesn't mention death. There is a version of the story where she commits suicide, but that was because some minister wanted to take her as a concubine, or something.

sounds like I may be a victim of story manipulation.  I don't really know either.  Is what I always heard.  As I said, could be wrong, sounds like I may be.  I thought China had something similar though.

Found this,

"Suicide has been closely tied with gender in Chinese culture, both historically and today. There are countless examples of females committing suicide in pre-modern Chinese history, usually as a result of oppression or misfortune, such as family members (particularly husbands and mothers-in-law) looking upon them in condemnation, or when women fell into shame. In the latter cases, it was viewed as an honorable way to escape shame – especially because the repercussions of shame typically fell not merely on the individual, but to an immense degree upon the individual's extended family."

But, I think this is possibly a case of things being attached to the story that weren't traditionally there...  I'm not really certain.  If I'm wrong I apologize for spreading misinformation.

Well, the last few pages of this thread have been...interesting. From arguing about whether love at first sight is real to feminism to Disney keeping the suicide out of their versions of stories.

It's hard to stay on Topic to tell ya the truth . There is nothing new and what was revealed has already been covered . Although....Do you think we will have a slider for High ? Like in GW2 . You have a slider just how big you wanna be and even a slider for how long your ear can be or thick (in some specie like the Charr) .

I just hope I'm as Tall as any Dude Qunari  <_<

So we saw the Female Qunari is tall.....how tall is that 6feet ? 7feet ? less? 5'9'' ?

Sadly I'm pretty sure height is determined by race and gender, never fluctuates for the pc, but might alter for npcs.  As usual, NPCs can be whatever, PCs super limited :P

way to cheer me up lol (throw flowers) you bad puppy

Thanx god in Gw2 , my Norn can be a giant Lady ! well maybe it is limited by specie , but that doesn't tell me if we use real life measure how TALL is that ? I mean the Arishok was soo freaking intimidating.....I wouldn't have been able to ask...if you count the Horne heigh when you measure his heigh  I bet that would set them aflames !

I have a tendency to be jealous on NPCs in games a lot :(

I have no idea the heights, if you ever get them side by side with someone who's height you do know, I could tell you, however.  Is rather simple then.

I don't mean to be a bad puppy... :(

I just...

Have learned to be disappointed in these things.  I usually choose to go smaller over bigger though myself.

Body customisation won't be a thing.

Changing the height / scale is probably the hardest thing to do, because it affects the synced animations.

I'd assume the human male is 6'. Though I haven't really seen any pictures of the qunari female in comparison to anyone.

I have every intention to be a dwarf for most of my playthroughs.  Just dad it means I can't be a mage and thus a combat dress wearer. :(

Hmmm, hard to say without him standing side by side with someone of a known height.  :(

Don't care how it happens or what I have to do to make it happen there is a dwarf PC I will get in a dress. Normally dresses and frilly clothes are not my thing but this Inquisitor NEEDS to be able to throw on nice dresses and just stroll around showing them off when she's not in battle. It'll be a good balance to my other Dwarf Inquisitor that I'm really attached to that has to be practically forced into nice clothes. I can just see that one having to be held down by the companions and advisers to be forced into a dress for the ball :D

Augh I want BOTH of these things.  Fancy ball gown and dress uniform.  Military dress uniforms are so attractive on any gender.  But I also love the idea of my big warrior Inquisitor getting fancied up in some ruffles.

I particularly like the dress uniform idea after reading Tamora Pierce's Beka Cooper books (specifically the last one).

For the ball I want a dress uniform or suit of some kind... preferably dress uniform with pants not skirt for my inquisitors. I hope those wanting dresses get a really nice one though or better still a couple to choose from or a colour option for whatever the dress is.

Considering how they painted Liara like a nerd or if you will...bookish . I don't think she would've liked Purgatory (I did cose of the music).......would have been nice if you could have a moment with her , maybe not talk prothean stuff but I dunno . Liara was quite happy to dance with me in the club in ME1 so I think she would have enjoyed the clubs in 3 if the option had existed actually. :P  Yeah it would have been nice to have more convos with her or maybe to wander the citadel together while doing things there too. I'd like more options to spend time with LIs and friends casually in DAI be it sparring or showing off skills and favourite weapons or something more casual like a game of cards, chatting by the fire or whatever else... just little things around the action of the rest of the game.

In terms of height Iron Bull is unusual even for a qunari but your female qunari will be significantly taller than even the men of other races so if humans men are about 6 foot I'd guess she's at least 6'5 and above. (Basing this on the E3 demo, Dorian doesn't quite come up to the top of her shoulders best I can tell). I'd guess Iron Bull is another few inches on top of that though hard to tell with the way his head seems small and his horns big. (I'm going off heights without horns because we haven't really seen the horn options and I'd imagine some horns if directed up would be taller than others, and you can choose no horns at all and no other race has them so it seemed a more useful comparison to disregard horns.)

I have no way of determining her height compared to the Arishok or other male qunari at this point and I'm being conservative in my guesses. If you're looking to tower over everyone around you though, leave Iron Bull at home and you will truly be an awesome giantess.  :D I'd like her to be the same height or taller than her male counterpart too though, that would be fantastic!  B)
