Glad to see this topic still active! Let's hope for a story trailer featuring a female Inquisitor soon, perhaps the launch trailer. *fingers crossed*
Anyways, after all the romances and their limitations were finally revealed, I've reworked my planning for future playthroughs, trying to come up witha way to play all races in as many variations of class and gender as possible. So far it seems that I'll be playing as a male inquisitor 3 times and 5 as a female inquisitor (if I even have time to play through the game more than once that is). It's quite a bit different from previous DA games, where 2/3 of my playthroughs were as a male Warden/Hawke.
So, what I'm trying to say is that I'm really happy with how Bioware have marketed the game so far, making me interested in playing as a female character more than the opposite for once! The female human warrior in the PAX gameplay trailer especially have me excited!

Oh god Ryan *vomits*
Not to mention that scene where you reject his stupid ass and he pretty much calls you hardheaded
um...I'm pretty sure you aren't universally desirable jerkwad.
Pretty much. The game literally forces you to be with this dude.... i went all NOPE on him and yet at the end he kisses Jodie. ugh.
The game could've been x1000 times better without all this forced "romance".

Is my biggest problem with the story, that it forces Jodi to like Ryan. I thought the dinner date memory was oddly placed since all their prior interaction was pretty antagonistic but suddenly their randomly super attracted to each other

Yeah, it didn't make sense at all. I made Jodie not liking this dude and all of sudden, dinner? Wtf?
It's like the director is trying to tell is that if a girl doesn't like you, you should force things until she does.

Ugh...the Beyond two Souls romances were terrible IMO, i really didn't understand why Jodi would even be on friendly terms with Ryan since he spends alot of the game treating her like crap, then has dinner with her for the sole intention of sleeping with her & if she has the panic attack from her memory of nearly getting gang raped he just leaves her to cry alone
I actually didn't mind Ryan I though he was cute and took all the ups and downs as just that periods over months or years of character growth/regression and their rocky relationship progression/digression. Like between training and the date I too made her hate him but then I took the date night as its been months close to a year later and so she would've grown up more during that time and had time to move beyond that moment. I took him running out as him just freaking out and not knowing what exactly to do that could've been handled better, I'm still trying all the playthrough options but the way I played it my 1 - 3 times it all works well, I will have to try the avoid him approach and see if I feel differently. At this point though Vega is super focred with fshep no matter how many times I tell him to shut up he's still flirting!
ANYWAY Sorry everyone I got the thread way off topic! OPs right lets refocus!
How would everyone feel if the inside booklet's cover had the faded image (shown earlier in the thread) of femInquisitor on the front of it and the male image on the back?

I would definitely like an image of femquisitor on the cover, I know the front is supposed to be gender neutral but if they're putting inquisitor on the back or inside I hope she gets to be there with the male with maybe a tag line about choosing/customising your inquisitor.
And I'd definitely like race/gender/class options to be mentioned to make it clear you can play different ways. I think class options are usually mentioned I just think the game would benefit from informing players about the other choices upfront so people seeing it in the store the first time don't have to research the game if any of those things impact their choices (as they do mine) the info is right there for them. That would be really cool ![]()

Bioware games haven't had those booklets for a few years now, so I doubt that Inquisition will.

Think the female Inquisitor will be featured much in the strategy guide ? I heard that Female Hawke wasn't in the DA2 one very much and one of her photos was of her in her underwear though I could be mixing up information. Do you think that they'll try to keep shots of the Inquisitor out of the strategy guide all together? If the Inquisitor is in it as silly as this may seem to say I kind of hope they keep it evenish between having male and female Inquisitors in the pictures they show of them.

Nope from what I hear you got Lady Hawke's appearances in the DA2 guide exactly right. I also hope we see inquisitors of both genders, all races and classes and various shades of skin in the guide though I'm not sure how much bioware actually contributes to them. I would guess they provide material but guides are usually by another company and I have no idea how they go about creating them so maybe someone with more knowledge could tell us?

Sadly true, these days it's an installation guide and any codes you get for your version choice.
I preferred having even a basic manual so I could read it while the game installed and get into the game better prepared to play and more hyped both at the same time... ah the good old days. ![]()

Not that I know of although the gameplay vid on the main site gives the distinct impression it's the first in a series (I think it actually calls itself the first in a series of videos) so I think they were intending to release more about either gameplay or combat (the subject of that video) whether they still are or not remains to be seen though there's still a couple of months to go for the game so I would guess probably more of these at least. I hope so anyway. ![]()

@ Kellen Now that you mention it...some do and some don't like ME - 2 do have books the 3rd doesn't and DAO had a book so I guess if they do a book or the internet code.
@XXPrincess yeah I liked the booklets too if for no other reason then I'm old fashioned. The only time I've used the books was actually when the books become walkthroughs like in TW2, Magna Carta to just look up something I'm stuck on and I'm too lazy to put in the effort to keep trying until I get it.
What about adding a reversible mini poster to all game orders that show the pictures of fem and man inquisitor if they don't do a booklet or code slip page?

I never said that the protagonist shouldn't have weakness, and shouldn't be worried over. I actually said I like the idea of the Inquisitor (or other protagonist) being the source of concern. What I don't like is the idea that a female protagonist somehow "needs" protection. You have an entire squad/party watching your back most of the time after all. And I repeat, the whole overprotective attitude thing often gives me creepy "possessiveness" vibes... as though women are items to be protected, rather than people who can make their own decisions, even if their boyfriends/husbands/lovers/fathers/etc. might not necessarily agree with or like those decisions. A man can be worried about a woman and still respect her decisions, and vice versa. And yet you didn't see Morrigan refusing to let the male Warden take the final blow against the Archdemon...
This touches on another big issue with the presentation of women in media - and that is the idea that every woman needs a man (or perhaps parental authority figure) in her life - presumably to make decisions for her and protect her?
The $6M Man (Steve Austin) was single, independent, and occasionally had casual flings with females he met during his adventures. The Bionic Woman (Jaime Sommers) lived in an apartment on her stepparents' property and had a regular boyfriend by the final season.
It's also a large part of the reason why I find the sex walk / run animation so objectionable. It basically says that finding a/n (ostensibly male) partner to take care of her is such an integral part of every woman's character that she would prioritize learning, practicing, and perfecting the sex walk. Either that, or she's using it to exert sexual power over others, which would suggest that she may be lacking in other forms of power or influence. Using it at all times and in all places makes her look needy imho, rather than being someone who can take or leave sexual opportunities as she sees fit. Whether it's because she needs a partner to take care of her or needs to use her sexuality to have power over others, it still ends up making her look like she is weak and dependent in some respects, and therefore uses sexual power as a means to achieve her ends.
Either that, or she's just a bit of a sexpot who wants to get laid a lot.
In terms of marketing, what more do you think could be done in terms of the Lady Inquisitor? I agree I'd like to see more dark-skinned Inquisitors, and see dwarven and elven Inquisitors. I also want to see a trailer that shows more than a small clip of the Lady Inquisitor at the end and features her voice--I want a trailer showing the Lady Inquisitor throughout it.
One of the problems with trailers in general is that it is not always clear who is who. People already familiar with the franchise might recognize some of the NPCs - but it can be difficult for others to differentiate NPCs from any PC that might be shown.
Something that I think might be helpful is spending a few seconds pointing out PC customization options. "Play as a male or female, human, elf, dwarf, qunari, warrior, rogue, or mage" while images of each of them with a variety of hairstyles, features, and skintones float into view. It should probably point out invalid combos (like dwarf mage) to avoid misleading viewers - but I think it could be done effectively in 20 - 30 seconds or so.
Another thing they might want to show off are some customization options. Different weapons, armors, upgrades, and how the same item might look different on a different character. It's odd that such features are rarely shown in marketing materials, since they seem to be fairly popular with a lot of potential customers.

I really hate the sex walk. Not going to lie. Hate is not too strong a word. Some people love it. Some of those people are women. To me it looks unnatural and unnecessarily distracting, because it's ridiculous. Of course that's the point - they want those who are attracted to women to be enticed by her "sexy" walk. But to me, it's not sexy, it makes me roll my eyes--then again I'm a straight woman, so I doubt it's me they are targeting.
And the concept you speak of where "every woman needs a man or parental figure" boils down to what is known as the "infantilization of women." Effectively, women are lumped into our (I say our, because it's societally ingrained, even though it has not by any means always been this way) collective minds with children, and often treated as such. They "need" father figures. They "need" authority from their lover/boyfriend/husband/etc. I do not agree with the notion, but it's basically ingrained into society so much that even a LOT of women agree with it (i.e. the idea that women should be subservient to men, or that all women NEED a man--nevermind that some women are lesbians or asexuals or simply not interested in commitment). But that's a discussion for another place and another day.
As for marketing... I agree that we need to see more customization options, for the male and female characters of all races. But I don't know how this could be done and still have an equally interesting trailer. I am sure it CAN be, but my mind is tired and I couldn't come up with a concept if it walked up to me and slapped me in the face.

On the positive side, they are saving paper and thus saving trees.

Yep. Their two newest games, DA2 and ME3, had the digital booklet on the disc instead of on paper.
No more female inquisitor plz. We need to see the male qunari. After all, the game was delayed for it and it is the race most of us are most excited to finally play.
So you come to a thread that is about asking for more Female Inquisitor stuff because...?
Also, Human will be the most played race, not Qunari. I have no doubt in that.

The lack of a booklet makes me sad those were always my favorite thing about getting a new game as a little kid was cracking it open in the car and going through it on the way home before I could play the game especially when they got semi creative with them that was always fun.
Anyway sorry for the OT post.
About the lady Inquisitor I noticed the the main site updated a little with the Inquisitor selection and put more pictures on the dwarf setting though I noticed they got rid of what was on Mage before guess they didn't want to get anyones hopes up for a future game and I also noticed that weird bugle on the ladies that people mentioned before. Wasn't on the qunari but it looked like it was on all the other races really hope thats just a weird lighting trick.
also still really hoping that the next inquisitor we see has darker skin I want so much to see a custom dwarf with darker skin

Exaggeration like that is used because it isn't clear that your character is attractive, either your design isn't accurate enough or your audience isn't observant enough. Sexual overkill may have a time and a place, but that isn't 90% of the game.

I'm the same. The exaggerated walk that the female protagonists use is somewhat ridiculous. It looks particularly out of place on the Qunari.
...That said, it's not as bad as DA2.
