An interesting (and funny) take on women armors:

Source: Yana (There are others examples via the link)

Spoiler

I personally like when the female outfits look practical (not necessarily realistic mind you, it's still a game). As long as I have the option, I don't mind if other people like to dress up their female (or male) characters more "lightly". My only issue might be with the NPCs (too much imbalance with the way my character is dressed for example).

I'm trying to finish KoA atm and the amount of boob windows and armors is impressive (Dokkalfars I'm looking at you) but somehow it feels they achieve a good balance (and to be fair it's not just females showing skin :P).

From what I've seen, I'm not too worried about DA:I, I will have options I like.

Well except for the female elf mage's with her noodles arms.

Im usually ok with sexy armour if both male & female characters can use them, just really irritates me when there's 2 versions of the same armour & the male version looks like practical protection while the female version shows a ridiculous amount of bare skin

I'm not too concerned about armor when it comes to looks. I'm only concerned with it  protecting me from whatever I will encounter in combat.

"Sexy" Armor and walks looks f****** ridiculous it's cheap lazy generic design and it's something that should stop.

I'd prefer they not get rid of one or the other but find a way to have both. That way everyone is happy because it is optional.

The sims 4 can do it with like 7 walks, there must be a way for 2 female walk choices in DA! Actually I would like it if there were 3 total walks that any character of any gender could choose: stereotypically masculine with shoulder swagger, stereotypically feminine with hip swagger, and normal, natural walk without much swagger.

Honestly, I don't focus on the character, I notice their walk/run when in an area I been thru too much usually (DA2). As I tend to focus more on everything around my character instead, also with subtitling on so I wont miss their banter as I move around.  Slammed into many a wall reading their banter when it comes up.  :D   Ouchies.....poor Hawkes noses must be flat by now....

I don't have a problem with what I've dubbed battle lingerie, but it's problematic when it's tacky and doesn't fit with the style of the game. If in a mostly grounded world such as Dragon Age we suddenly have the Inquisitor running around in metal lingerie it's very much yuck. Note this doesn't really apply to boobplate, boob window or or generally understated members of other groups. I mean partially because I know how bad armor actually is (seriously plate armor was mostly created for appearances rather than for war, chain mail, cloth and leather armors were far more common and frankly better.

I would definitely like an image of femquisitor on the cover, I know the front is supposed to be gender neutral but if they're putting inquisitor on the back or inside I hope she gets to be there with the male with maybe a tag line about choosing/customising your inquisitor.  :D

And I'd definitely like race/gender/class options to be mentioned to make it clear you can play different ways. I think class options are usually mentioned I just think the game would benefit from informing players about the other choices upfront so people seeing it in the store the first time don't have to research the game if any of those things impact their choices (as they do mine) the info is right there for them. That would be really cool  B)

I took a look at the PS4 cover at Gamespot yesterday.  The back, unfortunately, has a screenshot of the human male Inquisitor and not the female.  I only quickly skimmed the description, but didn't see anything about customizing your character or changing the gender.

Think the female Inquisitor will be featured much in the strategy guide ? I heard that Female Hawke wasn't in the DA2 one very much and one of her photos was of her in her underwear though I could be mixing up information. Do you think that they'll try to keep shots of the Inquisitor out of the strategy guide all together? If the Inquisitor is in it as silly as this may seem to say I kind of hope they keep it evenish between having male and female Inquisitors in the pictures they show of them.

Man, everything about the DA2 strategy guide was awful.  Almost no shots of Lady Hawke except when she's in her underwear, and Isabella was inexplicably whitewashed.  This one really needs to do better.  I'm not ordering it until I can see it for myself.

Really?  If that's true, then that's seriously disappointing.

Well, if you have the IE version you get the metal case that just has the Inquisition emblem on it.

Yeah, only the small number of those.  So, a male inquisitor is on the back with no gender change mentions?!   I hope they were just showing off a stand in and not the actual cover that will be shipped.  Inquisition's emblem would be better. Male on the back will make the front seem to be a male instead then to those that didn't follow the videos.

Wait, what? Did they use the Isabella from the CGI trailer or something?

She is lighter instead of darker....which she should been darker.  I see why some used white skin in the game even though she supposed to be dark skinned.  *shrugs*

Hopefully that crap won't happen with Vivienne.

It would be even more irritating, considering the fact that the new game is supposedly harder to mod.

Yep. I can't get my beautiful quickbar mods and fix BW's buggy as hell dialogue triggers but there's a white Vivi  is the most apt for the way I'd feel.

Oh....   man...  I would be livid if Vivi, or even Josie were to be whitewashed.  I assume the gamebook wont whitewash, the in game trailers and gameplay has me fine on how she will appear as she looks as she does in the pictures. The book........better not change appearances.

Well, they aren't using the company that made the DA2 book but rather the people who made the DAO book so I don't think it will happen.

:(  :crying:

That's seriously disappointing then. As someone else said that will now make the front cover inquisitor seem like a male to most people also. Sigh... everytime I start getting excited about this game something comes along to disappoint me again for a while. The worst part is I'm actually not surprised to find that as usual game boxes and covers are about the male pc again because I didn't really expect a change, I just hoped we'd finally see a cover that shows both. If that's not a placeholder and is the actual cover  ... nah don't get my hopes up again.

I didn't bother with the DA2 strategy guide (I usually don't for most games) but I heard and saw pictures so yeah it was pretty bad. It will be interesting to see what happens this time around then.

Hmmn... I'm really tired today too and perhaps overly dramatic... oh well still disappointed though.

@Tayah, no worries, I was disappointed when I read it myself.      I would like to see both on the cover or just the emblems. :)

This would be a good idea you did a better job describing the walk types better then me and three choices is better then two. I like it because it allows for players variety to pick the one closest to something they'd prefer. I'd really like both M and F heros to have the walk cycle choices and to demo it like I mentioned earlier in a Dragon's Dogma way where the player presses A to cycle through walk, run, and sprint animation they can also use the RB and LB to rotate the character 360 degrees to see the performance from all angles before they choose it. Walking is just as important as all other custom aspects as you have to stare at that motion the whole game and if its one that irks you then it aids in character dissidence instead of immersion. I'm excited that DAI has two voice types I think this is a trial for ME4 so I'm eager to hear how they will be.

That sucks maybe a book on the inside but there might be a bit of hope as that is a demo box so maybe they have time to adjust it text wise a bit? I really hope there isn't ladies in their underwear for the guide  or art books if there are no men also in their underwear inside the same booklet. If they're going to do it do it across the board not just for women only.

Speaking of ME:Next, I bet it will have race selection. I'm guessing this for race/gender combinations.

Asari: Female only(since they are monogendered)

Human: Male and Female

Quarian: Male and Female

Salarian: Male only(since females don't leave Sur'Kesh)

Turian: Male and Female
