Could we please see more of the Lady Inquisitor?

Agreed.

@Lady Please don't tell me it's a white guy with stubble under that helm...

I'm pretty sure it was the same white human male who's been in all the trailers, so yeah...  <_<

Wait, what? Did they use the Isabella from the CGI trailer or something?

It's... okay, I just dug it up and took pictures because words can't describe how bad this is.  Sorry some of these got flipped around when I uploaded them, but I think they make their point.

Spoiler

And the thing is, these aren't screenshots.  They're clearly high res pictures that had to have been provided by Bioware.  So how is she so white

I was going to post the many, many full-page spreads of male Hawke, but it would be thread-breaking and unnecessary.  Suffice to say, there are A LOT.  I stopped at about 14 (and those were only the big ones).  And again, most of them are high res illustrations, not screenshots.  Bioware provided them.  Bioware made the call to draw them, use them in their marketing, and send them to Piggyback.  So I don't know if Piggyback can be blamed for this, at all.

Meanwhile, here's ALL the pictures of Lady Hawke in the book.

Spoiler

Yes, in one of the three times Lady Hawke appears on a page, that page has no less than four pictures of male Hawke, most of which are much bigger than hers.  There are more pictures of him on that one page than there are of her in the entire 271 page book.  And not a single full-body shot of her anywhere.  Every companion gets a full body shot.  Darkspawn get full body shots.  Dog gets a full body shot.  Not Lady Hawke.

And the underwear shot.  May its infamy never be forgotten.

I forgot how much this bothered me, but it's a good reminder of how far this company has come in the span of one game.  I don't expect the DAI guidebook to be like this at all.  But let's not forget that it could have been this all over again.

I don't get why they whitewashed Isabella for the strategy guide...  she is WAY prettier with her in-game skintone.

I think we have seen enough of the female Inquisitor

too much even : the gameplay demos were all with female Inquisitors (Qunari and Human, a trailer etc.

I'm all for equality but that doesn't mean that males should be disregarded

I really wanted to see a Male Qunari in action or even a classic Human Male and hear at least one of the

Inquisitors voices in action (not trailer)

but nope I suppose I will have to wait for the game for that

There is never enough of the female Inquisitor . Just look back , in just DAO and DA2 . All the trailer were for you dudes !!! Not one of those 2 had a female warden or a female Hawke .

For years I had to put up with every freaking games having a Dude plastered on the trailer . Every damn game for ages .

And now they are making a little bit for us womens , Oh it is too much ? you kidding me right ?

I tell ya where your post is an offence : You didn't ask : can we see please the Male Inquisitor (as human , qunari , elf and dwarf) . No you are ASKING to stop making females stuff so you can see something for YOU .

I don't see why your need should come first before mine . I be paying for the game too , I be shedding tears and fighting in it as well . So why would you go and say stuff like that ?

If you read the previous post , someone pointed out that the Game Box already will have a DUDE on it . So where is My box with the female Inquisitor huh ?

I disagree, but that's opinions for you. Why don't you go to the thread specifically for advocating to see the male inquisitor. No use telling us, because most of us disagree.

there was a male dwarf Inquisitor. Can't remember where or when, I just remember the video.

and for the traier...sorry, but I have difficult to not laugh. The only trailer where there is the female Inquisitor she isn't even visible. Few scenes where is almost impossble to understand if the character is female. Is just a voice, nothing more. Could be confused with one of the companions.

and beside the demo videos, almost all the marketing is heavy male representative.  -_-

You can see pictures of him all over the website.

He is in every trailer except one.

There was a human male demo and a dwarf male demo.

Seriously, there is no shortage of the male Inquisitor.

I want to see a dwarf female demo, but that's the problem with there being 8 possible combinations (without even bringing in classes) of characters.  They can't show every single one.

I can appreciate where you are coming from, but this isn't the thread for it.  For what it's worth, no one in this thread said male characters should be disregarded.  That is an absurd and unfair assumption to make.   What we have said is there is an overwhelming majority of male characters in advertising in video games.  Take me for instance: ME1 and ME2 didn't have a huge media presence among the masses.  I didn't see any ads or the like for those games, so I didn't know about them.  ME3 had a big advertising campaign, and it caught my attention. I honestly didn't know when ME3 came out you could be a female character.  I thought that BioWare had gone more of the "Halo" route and had a fixed male character named Shepard.  It was only after I hit the forums last November did I even know I could play a female character.

Why?  It's because the advertising failed to show me, an example of the average player (not a forum surfer at the time) that the female character was even available, much less any sort of action shots.  I saw yet another white guy with a stubble.  That's a shame, because it was only after I was encouraged to play the games that I saw that the advertising was doing a disservice to the game.  It (that kind of adveristing) makes it much easier for me to look at it just as yet another shooter where the PC was yet another cookie cutter copy of the same sort of look I've seen from male characters over the last 15 years or so.  Rather than show diversity by showing a female character, the ads left the impression that there was no real character creation options.

You've probably overlooked it, but it isn't just the overwhelming majority of protagonists being male that bothers many in the thread.  It's more that we're sick and tired of seeing the same sort of guy over and over again.  It would be one thing for me at least if the Inquisitor from the latest trailer was a minority man.  That would have been awesome, and a little different from the norm.  I would prefer a female PC, but I am happy with diversity.  What made this latest trailer such a let down is that they fell back on the easy "tried and true" form of advertising: 30-something white man with dark brown stubble.  If they had deviated from that norm, I probably wouldn't feel as disappointed as I do.

I do believe in more representation, for everyone.  The LGBT community, minorities (no matter the gender) as well as women as a whole are starting to request more advertising time; more characters; more diversity in general in their games.  This thread is for the women and men that would like to see a badass lady take the reigns more often.  Shoot, I'd love to see a female PC that wasn't yet another mage.   :P

I also believe that the lack of diversity among male PCs in advertising and trailers are indeed a problem, and one that is worthy of attention.   Since there is a thread requesting for a higher presence of a male PC, you should probably address it in there.   ;)

Reading this thread for some time, I don't think anybody can oversee the hate for straight white men in a lot of posts. If you would replace the "white" with "black" or "brown" this thread would have been closed a long time ago because of repetitive insults to people, bases of their skin colour. But I guess it's fine as long as they are white (and straight and men)

I agree this thread is full of women who are upset they don't get more female protagonists

And thats understandable but they also think that because of men getting more that they (males) should be discarded and take the back seat

I actually wanted more female leads (loved Tomb Raider) in games, tv shows etc. but after reading some butthurt posts I hope it stays the way it is

Er, I don't see a "hatred" of straight white men.  Especially since I know that plenty of them post in there.  I really don't see it, and I honestly think you're reaching a lot here.  I have seen that there is a lot of guys that come in, say that and expect that to alter our views somehow.  It's more about the "dudebro" mentality that many of us are extremely sick of.  Allan is mighty sick of it too, who, by the way, is straight, male and white.

I see a frustration over a lack of representation across minorities, the LGBT community and women.  I see a frustration that the overwhelming majority of mainstream marketing in the US (and in parts of Europe as well) are only white guys.  Plus, rarely do you ever see a gay couple as a part of advertising.   Or a lesbian couple, which sadly extremely is rare in media. It's usually the same white hetero middle-class suburban family most of the time.  We don't hate any group, contrary to how you might feel.  We are tired of some of the folks within that group proclaiming that they should be catered to because they are the majority.

When it comes to video games, particularly fantasy, it's extremely jarring to see only one type of physical representation of a character over and over again shown in ads and trailers.

I'm not saying that is what you mean.  You haven't come in and said, "I should get all the options because I'm XYZ."  I won't put words in your mouth.  I am saying that a lot of the guys proclaiming that they are "straight, white, a guy and therefore should get the majority options" are indeed going to be met with disdain.

Oh and if you think the thread is a problem, PM Allan.  You'd be surprised: He will take the time to listen to you and hear where you are coming from.  However, don't be surprised if this thread remains open.  If it bothers you so much, then I would suggest not reading or posting in this thread anymore.  It's only going to make you upset.

Edit: Oops, I needed to change around the placement of a sentence.

Don't tell me to calm down . Your post hit a nerve !

No it is not your fault men are favored in games . But what irk me and put a fire under my ass , is that I was (and still in your shoes) , where every game I pick it is male oriented . And I'm supposed to take that as a given : I DO NOT EXIST cose womens don't play games or watever .

And what hit a nerve , is that you didn't even say : Can you guys ask for male inquisitor as well ? THAT IS EQUALITY .

No you said ' we seen enough of females inquisitor' . brushed it off.....

And asking for more male in the game while saying 'Had enough of females' is not equal . You wanna harp about equality ? Ask for both .

The point is , if you want it so badly..open a thread about it . Don't come in here complaining about your lack of dude presentation and trying to take my presentation away with one breath .

This:

I think we have seen enough of the female Inquisitor

too much even : the gameplay demos were all with female Inquisitors (Qunari and Human, a trailer etc.

I'm all for equality but that doesn't mean that males should be disregarded

This , doesn't say equality . This is saying : Begone females , had enough of seeing you plastered in this new game .

Nobody wants males "discarded."  "Take a back seat" means stop trying to dominate the conversation when the conversation happens to not revolve around you.

I do think that we could do with some more gameplay videos with voice actors other than the British female one.  As well as more trailers with voice actors other than the british male one.

I don't hate white hetero males . I'm frustrated mostly . I want equality..well same number of stuff for dude and dudette . I want when peoples make complains like this , to make a complain for everyone . I want peoples to use the WE as WE (all of us humans , all orientation , all colors , and all paws) we want . We need , we desire...etc .

When it come down to : I want this and that . Then retract and say : I'm for equality . Well then , it is a WE want or I want for US .

Sorry ladies and gentleman.....it just hit a nerve I guess . Been playing since the Atari , so the frustration is years old .  :(
