Make that image a femQunari warrior and it's sold!  Nothing beats a flaming sword as an accessory.

Absolutely, hero's/heroine's journey stories can have a character of any gender.  But consider that one of the main reasons why the hero "returns home" in the end is because he has a wife to return to.  See "The Odyssey," for instance.  A tradition of western literature is the idea that a man goes out and faces trials in the world, but his home, a sanctuary, is waiting for him, usually watched over by his wife or family.  That's not a good or bad thing, that's just part of the archetype.

The Heroine's Journey probably lacks this because traditionally, if a woman left home, it was to marry and make her own family.

You know, it's kind of for that reason that I'm looking forward to exploring the Cullen romance in one of my playthroughs. Ignoring the fact that I already think it would be interesting to see the nuances of romancing him with a fellow Templar warrior (if specializations are recognized that deeply by storylines/dialogue) or with a mage, I'm a little fascinated to see the potential dynamic of the female Inquisitor who goes out to save the world while the male advisor grows Skyhold's army.

Which is probably thrown a little on its head by the fact that it sounds like the advisors occasionally go out on personal missions for The Cause™ or accompany you in a non-party capacity (such as Leliana from the Redcliffe demos). But I still think it should be interesting to have a female Main Hero™ with her "beau at home" sort of dynamic.

Hey all, since I'm going to be at the Edmonton Expo this weekend (Sept 26-28) and will definitely be dropping by the BioWare booth and attending pretty much all the BioWare related panels, I just thought I'd see if anyone wants me to pass along any kudos or questions or anything like that to BioWare staff when I see them there/the opportunity arises. I know it's pretty short notice so I apologize for that.

I don't know who will be representing BioWare over the course of the weekend, but Lukas Kristjanson did say a fair number of them would be spending time out of the office to mingle with fans at the booth this weekend. I hope it will be a nice break from bug fixing for them!

Edited to add: I've got an Edmonton Expo discussion thread here http://forum.bioware.../#entry17372321 so you can see the tombstone data for the panels.

For more details, please check out the Edmonton Comic and Entertainment Expo webpage, which is here: http://edmontonexpo....ow/programming/ (I didn't want to copy & paste from a third party website to the forum... it's probably not a big deal since it isn't an online magazine with a subscription...)

The only question I have would be the hair for femquis. Will she have long(er) hair than the previous games? Like past her shoulders?

I'll keep track of any questions and see what I can do for you. Hopefully hair isn't one of those things included in the NDA that I'm sure all BioWare staff have to be party to. :)

I'll have a fem and a male inquisitor. I'll check after which other kinds of characters I will take.

Can you ask them if MP can be played by Free (silver) Xbox live accounts on both the xboxone and 360? Will these non gold accounts have full access for limited access.

I'd also thank them for listening to our thread here.

I'd also like to know if they'll be advertising her there as much as male hero not as a question directed at BW but as a con observation if you choose to do that as you're moving about the floor(s). Completely optional and only if it doesn't interfere with your plans at the con! Thanks Ladyiolanthe and have fun there!

I'd say it's probably a pretty safe bet that you'll need a Gold subscription to play on either XBox console. That was the case for the MP in Mass Effect 3, after all.

At least with Xbox One, if you have one gamertag with Gold all other gamertags can use Gold as well.

So this image from the EGX presentation *seems* to be a female Inquisitor in red (or maybe it's Cassandra, although her hair doesn't seem to match what we've seen before):

CYvV1QMl.jpg

If it's a female Inquisitor, is that a military uniform she's wearing?  Is it copy paste of the male Inquisitor's ball outfit, like what happened in Mark of the Assassin at the party?   I don't want to make assumptions before knowing all the details, but I would be disappointed if we have to wear our male character's hand me downs again...

It's not Cassandra. It's been discussed in her thread.

I hope for posters like Puppy Love who wants to dress femininely, you can choose different outfits.

Shoot, I like looking feminine every now and then.  For fun, I learned how to use the ME3 save editor to give my Shep red lipstick.*  The armor is the default N7 armor, but I wanted just a touch extra femininity.  Not for anyone else, just for me.  I'd prefer not to see the PC in makeup as a default (dear Athena, we've had enough of that,) but I do like having the choice.

Anyhow, I'd love to have a variety of clothing choices.  Some of the outfits are just horrendous.  For instance, the atrocious outfit from MotA was just an eyesore (the grey latex-looking dress from ME3 isn't any better.)  In MotA,  I have never quicksaved and logged out of a game that fast in my life.  Thank goodness for mods.  Now since modding is looking very unlikely for the near future, I'm hoping to have more than one outfit to choose from for the ball.

*If anyone wants the gibbed codes for the lipstick, PM me and I'll send you a preview of what it looks like.

Personally, I don't even need a dress, I just wanted to feel like I wasn't a third class citizen in MotA, after Male Hawke and Tallis, who both got unique outfits, while the female version was obviously a copy paste resized for her model.

Choice would be great, but I'd just settle for thoughtful.  Looking at real life military dress uniforms, women generally don't just wear the same exact thing as the guys cut for their bodies.  If that outfit in that screenshot is designed specifically for a female Inquisitor, great, but it would be sad if they saw the feedback from MotA and did the same thing again.

I have to admit, the MotA outfit never bothered me much. But then my female characters tend to be tomboyish so it made sense for them to wear it.

It would be fine if it wasn't so color clashing.  <_<

Having her outfit be an almost exact match to what the Male Inquisitor wears...  if it's a military based uniform wouldn't be TOO far off how real-life is though admittedly.

Me too.  I gave him a nice black and white suit that looked sharp.  Same design only with, you know, colors that didn't hurt my eyes.  :P

There was a quest in Oblivion where you had to 'dress to impress' otherwise they wouldn't let you into the party, I think part of the thieves guild quests. In DA:I I'd like the option to 'dress to impress' either in something nice to appease those throwing the ball or have the option to dress completely inappropriately, and p*ss them off!

An impression doesn't always have to be positive you know!
