...

Really?

I mean I'm all for whatever armor as long as I can not use it but really? Someone can't say I want something like this now? They have to find the exact kind of armor they'd like?

I want freaking trenchcoats on mage robes. I have to find a perfect example of what I want according to you?

Well, when I presented an armor showing a style it(by that I mean the entire style not just the armor) was immediately dismissed. So I can't do the same?

I agree saying something like that is stupid, but I was just returning the favor really.

When examples that don't have your ridiculous boob window, and do their job, and is still feminine, and you reject it because of completely different armor which is not being asked for, it makes you an ass and a hypocrite.

Is one of the thing that pisses me off most. Because those who like feminine armor and are willing to work with you to meet your protective armor requirement standards, follow your rules and provide examples that fit within your boundaries, and you still reject us out of hand, it makes you a stubborn unrelenting ass, completely unwilling to work with others, compromise and try to reach a mutual understanding, where both parties can be happy.

This is my main problem, one side attempts to bend over backwards to come up with a compromise, follow all the rules given us, and provide examples that fit within the standards placed before us, and we're rejected out of hand, because the other side is unwilling to bend just a little, and lumps us all in with the boob window and lingerie armor unfairly.

You are all completely unreasonable, uncompromising, selfish jerks who care nothing about anyone but themselves and getting their own way, because if it were otherwise you'd at least attempt to see where we are coming from, and all the effort and attempts we do to find something that is a reasonable compromise and fits your standards. I'm so sick of trying to work with you all.

The truth is: "we want the girl out of the battlefield, keep your femaleness outside our medieval male fantasy, everyone must adhere to the masculine standards set forth by our sexist medieval real world history."

I refuse to believe that to be female and a warrior I need to abide by masculine diecor in my armor. One does not need to be a tomboy desiring to be one of the boys to be a warrior, and in a world were women fight, some of us do not like the stereotypical masculine decor, and armor can and should be designed with femine ornamentation as well. Armor comes in all black with ridiculous masculine body spikes, the cloth dresslike additions on red armor is no more unrealistic than that armor.

I'm a girl, and I don't care whether an armour is masculine or not. If I can shoot an arrow through it without much difficulty, than it is a **** design.

Considering I'm not the one who dismissed you...

Then keep it to whoever said it please. No need to quote me with that stupidity as I start to think that's directed at me.

I for one don't care what armor they put in as long as I can get my nice and simple outfits. A variety of armors is fantastic because that simply gives me more ways to have my characters clothing suit their personalities. (Hell I'd want some lacy outfits for some of my males particularly my mages).

Only issue I have with that outfit you linked was the shoulders look laughable. Those things need to be shrunk the hell down. I don't mind big but that's way too big.

What I think he means is that the world of Thedas is based off medieval European cultures and countries and that medieval Asian armours would thus look out of place in regards to current lore.

I think 'feminine' as a description of armour often gets confused with revealing or exposed armour as that is what we've had for female characters in games in general for a while. By feminine you actually mean still fully covered by armour but with (possibly) flowing skirts and better tailoring right? Also more colours/ornamentation maybe? Possibly more rounded edges than harsh jagged ones that kind of thing? Just so I'm clear what you're actually arguing for. I certainly think there's a place for that kind of armour for people who want that based in the armours from the appropriate region if that's the case. It could be pretty cool actually.  B)

Or I've misunderstood in which case sorry, nvm.

Also we do know that crafting materials will determine the colours of armours/armour parts/weapons and that you can have purple at least so maybe not all bland and boring brown.  :P

That's certainly how I would like to see femine armour. More sleek and contoured, with beautiful ornamentation. One of my favourite armours in DA:O was the Shadow of the Empire set, but it still exposed the midriff to my irritation.

I had your post there because you were answering for someone else. And their response was 'yep pretty much' so I needed yours. I apologize if it seemed like I was directing that at you.

Fair enough.

Honestly so far I've liked the female mage robes design. Pretty but not DAO's weird looking dresses. (god I hated those things. I ended up using this mod)

Technically this is damn near full plate, minus the helm.  It is also very feminine.  I think a feminine helm could be designed to go with it.

My problem with this design is all the winged out pieces. You could poke a dwarf's eyes out with those shoulders, a design choice which I find to be completely irritating.

But the colour and gold ornamentation are lovely.

Any Dwarf whose eyes could be poked out by those had their eyes too close to her chest anyway. :P

I'd rather see something like this:

Yes and the point is the examples being given are just as efficiently armored and thus as good against arrows as any other, and you're dismissing it out of hand makes you a hypocrite.

Not all feminine armors have boob windows, ect, and those without such silliness is what's being argued for right now, get it yet?

If you really only care that armor is protective against arrows, then you should have zero problems with feminine armor that succeeds with doing so.

In which case, there's no reason you should not be neutral towards it.  The second you start arguing against feminine non skimp ware armor, you are being a hypocrite.  Which is where the problem is.

If as you say you are neutral, then you should have zero problem with people asking for more feminine armor if they are staying within the "practical" armor guidelines.

Blog-Asset-_WM_675x380.jpg

Is it bad that I kinda like this outfit? The textures are cool. Also, looking at the inquisitor's armour, it actually looks like she wears this underneath her armour all the time (same boots, similar pants). If we can't have choices (which we can't), I'm glad it looks inspired by that armour, its a nice touch.

I just wish I had a better picture to make a more informed decision of whether I'll like this on all gender/race combos. Ugh...

That's the kind of mohawk I wanted for my fem qunari (maybe slightly shorter sitting on the back of her neck just below her skull) but this kind of thing in black... that would have been perfect.

Also I love the eyes and would have been happy with kate's hair in that movie too... probably on an elf or human (more likely human).  :D

Whenever I make female characters for any sort of game I usually end up making them like my old gf in how they dress and handle themselves and such.

As per armor I kinda want something like this:

When I was talking style earlier by theme of what DA has presented, I didnt mean they could not have different kinds/different ornamentation, more like JRPGs never go for realistic, and mostly only for style and it is about presentation rather than adaption. Many styles would never work, because based on that design, it lacks the same themes, as DA is about realism/grit. Feminine armor in styles of many JRPGs would not work because they are under different themes.

The mage outfits they have shown recently shows while there is style it is secondary to those themes. Making feminine armor then has to work with realism AND flair and even a bit of grit, since they are the games design. Feminine armor that can look battleborn but still feminine. Otherwise feminine armor will always be relegated to Mods since the game cant legitimitly go against its themes and not look out of place.

Feminine, realistic, practical, personally I do think the new style can do just that.

I think it was the winged pieces that initially confused me regarding the style actually but I like the colour and ornamentation as well (it might be even more appealing to me in a rich emerald green and gold but that's just personal taste).

@Gregolian, first Selene/Kate and now Sif... you have excellent taste!  ;)

@ Ryzaki, speaking of Selene/Kate reminded me I would so love to have her trenchcoat from underworld for my mages.

What is the general look you guys are going for your first femquisitor?

For my elf mage inquisitor, she's going to have medium brown skintone, big almond shaped eyes in an unusual color, and that asymmetrical hairstyle in the CC demo. I might give her red or burgandy colored hair with ombre style dye. Her vallaslin will be the Falon din one. I'm still figuring out my second qunari mage quizzy.

If you think I was referring to every image on 314 pages worth of posts, or actually reading them; you're mistaken. I only came to read what I was linked too, and behold  the first page I see ?boob-hole armour= feminine.

I'd argue that most armour is gender neutral, it just gets associated with masculinity because everyone thinks of men running around in it by default. It's always a bit funny discussing exactly what constitutes feminine and masculine though, even with something as objective as shapes. Generally I'd say masculine fictional armour tends to exaggerate the shoulders and arms, often unrealistically so.

This for my Human Warrior:

Spoiler

I don't think that is beyond Dragon Ageification. You take it as inspiration and conform it to the established look of the world. It's worth noting that DA2 already has some pretty big hip guard things in it.
