Bearded lady dwarves don't exist in DA anyways. So it doesn't matter.
This isn't Lord of the Rings.
... I guess you missed the entire start to this discussion.

Pfffff you don't get to bail after saying that !
I want to see your dwarf lady with a beard ! the public demand it !
Erm, nope. Not for me, but I welcome the choice for others.

They have stubble now, so they do exist in Thedas. Just because we hadn't seen them up to this point doesn't mean that they never existed. The lore evolved, in a way that I don't mind at all. In fact, I welcome the option wholeheartedly.
Nuggins is right. Don't like it, don't add stubble to your female dwarf. I'm not going to, because I personally don't like the way it looks (never got into stubble on my dwarven ladies.) However, if dwarf NPC #147 is a female with stubble, it's not going to hurt my enjoyment or immersion of the game.
It doesn't hurt my enjoyment either if that's the case.
I'm just annoyed that Tolkien gets brought up. As much as I LIKE Tolkien, screw Tolkien! lol. Time to move on. Fantasy has evolved in myriad ways. Every writer has a different vision of dwarves. I'm tired of hearing about him.
Well maybe I make one......for myself....Hum..she be redder then Orghen and have a bad temper !
Tis game gonna be fun!

I don't argue, but one little Tolkien-ism in Thedas doesn't bother me. For the most part, the DA team has turned most of those tropes well on it's head, so I can deal here.
However, since folks did ask where the beared dwarven women thing came from, I did bring up Tolkien. You see, Tolkien borrowed a lot from Nordic mythology for his books, including the rune language of the dwarves. If it had roots going back to Nordic mythos, I would have mentioned that instead. That's just something he decided on.
I'm just going to be happy for other people. I'm glad that the dwarven ladies can have stubble. I'm thrilled that all the male characters can have access to makeup. I'm always glad to have more choices in my RPGs. Even if some of those choices aren't for me.
I think the reason I'm so sensitive to it, is as a transgender woman, the experience is very similar to people insisting I'm a man, no matter how feminine I am or what I do to be my real self. So when people insisted my dwarf has a beard despite everything I did and showed to prove otherwise, and despite it being my character, well it strikes a very similar emotional parallel. So is kind of one of those traumatizing experiences I'm really sensitive too because my real life experiences are wrapped into it.
Either way, I already said I'm happy for people who like the feature. I however do not, I also said nothing about removing it or hating anyone who uses it. Only that it would be better if humans had the feature as well, maybe qunari. I also stated that I disliked how it was implemented for dwarves only, and why it bothered me.
At no point did I say to remove the feature, or anything untoward towards anybody liking the feature. Merely defended my position of disliking it's current iteration and why.

Fair enough. I'm not against choices either. I might make fun of a [stubbled] female dwarf in character if I have the option though. That's just between me and the game though.

Aww . Well , it is a game . So think of it , as more options to make better looking charachter and different one . Heck , I'm planning to make a Dark Elf and see if I can do it without her looking like a Dragon sat on her face
If I can get my mage femquisitor to look similiar to this I will be a happy camper and have long red hair
Well..D&D had them..........I liked those better . Just saw LOR movie...never read tha books .

I can say I really don't know of any other depictions of fantasy dwarves other than from Tolkien and in fairy stories when I was a child. So how else have they been depicted?
D&D, Warcraft..
Elder Scrolls has Dwarves, but they're a mystery. They're also an offshoot of elves there. But a lot of other common tropes are similar (dwarven proficiency with engineering and metalworking).

D&D, WoW, the Witcher, TES, and numerous fantasy book series I've read
the onyl one where they are truly a whole other beast than Tolkien's is TES

A long complicated answer, D&D had them, though the crappy D&D movie made a bearded dwarven women joke, despite the dwarf not coming from anywhere near one of the like two subraces that have facial hair regularly on women. One being a gully dwarf, and they just have like sparse whiskers of hair. Mostly I like D&D dwarves and thedus dwarves because women exists as more than a reference to women and beards, you can play one, and no beards.

He's saying you should read the books. ![]()

Just looked like a badass mage to me. <shrug>
Anyone who likes fantasy should at least read The Lord of the Rings
The Hobbit, Silmarrilion, and Unfinished Tales if you want more

I have no idea. The character looks similiar to what I have in mind for what I want my femquisitor to look like. I even like the armor

Muh...I get that alot .
I play Stwor..but never saw the movies save for 1 and when I was too little to remember anything beyond a golden protocol droid and Harrisson ford . I play Star Trek , but never watched the Tv show , and watched Harry Potter but never read the book . So , yeah...I,m keeping the tradition so far ![]()

I don't.....
i've not played any of those aside from TES, but yeah the dwemer, I forgot about them. I haven't read a lot of fantasy either, certainly not high fantasy, it would be interesting to know how the depictions differ because even in TES they sort of still have a Tolkien sort of vibe (armours, smithing, living underground) the only thing I see differing is the mechanical technology they produced and being an extremely advanced race compared to others in Tamriel.D&D, WoW, the Witcher, TES, and numerous fantasy book series I've read

Their extensive use of magic, lack of ...well being dwarfs, disdain of fighting, etc... set them apart
