Hmm if I can put that on a rogue and change the orange to another color I think I'll use that for my rogue Cadash it looks quite pretty.
Could we please see more of the Lady Inquisitor?

It looks like it. Though it can be confirmed that it is 2.5D anda DLC addon as opposed to a full game. It is called Assassin's Creed Chronicles: China. Included in the season's pass for AC:Unity (available separately too).
Start from 1:58
Ill check it out on saturday, as I cant at work. But, its for Unity, which means I have to by Unity with the 4 guys, just to play a side scroller that has the female.
Why cant she take one of the 4 guys spot? Ugh, I hate to be rude to Ubisoft though. All I can say is, really!? Come on now! to them.

Well, the reason, the real one, that she can't be one of the four is that you are all playing Arno (the main assassin), your friends just *see* a generic face on your character, as they are playing Arno too. So to you, you are Arno, with three generic friends (generic meaning white male), and to your friends, they are Arno, and you're the generic assassin.

I really like the armor on Shao Jun from that Assassin's Creed game posted earlier. I want to craft something similar for my Inquisitor:

Ah, ok. That makes sense, though I am uninterested in playing it.
I would if Shao Jun was more than a side scroller and not just a small part of the game, I would of bought it right away.

Man, why can't we just buy games that look interesting regardless if the protagonist is male or female? That's what I do.
We do of course. If we only bought interesting games with female protagonists we'd all have a collection of like 8 games
Some women are simply tired of playing the same cookie cutter character in every game: Straight white guy with short dark hair and stubble or short beard, muscular action-hero body (but not venturing into the realm of body builder) with a hint of angst and tragic backstory (the "my wife/daughter was murdered/kidnapped" is a very popular one) and a mostly stoic personality. Same guy over and over. They can't even venture out within their own very limited scope of "straight white guy" and make a straight white guy who's skinny, freckled and has a blonde ponytail, an over-the-top sense of humor, and dresses like a modern hippie? A straight white guy who weighs 400 lbs, has curly hair, a shy and diplomatic personality and solves problems with his intelligence and charisma? There are so many possibilities within the narrow frame of "straight white man" and that's not even tapping into different races, cultures, ages, and genders yet most games rehash the same "safe" focus test guy again and again. When I see a game with that same focus test clone it puts me off. I think "man, if they can't even bother to design an original or at least somewhat unique character then my guess is that the other characters are just as generic as is the story" characters, roleplaying, and story are why I play games. Fun combat/mechanics are a bonus but don't sway my decision one way or another when buying a game. Too many games rely solely on combat, graphics, and certain game mechanics and ignore characters, story, and character development which are the things I like and that kind of game almost always has a generic focus test guy as the protagonist.
There are of course times when a protagonist only looks like the bland cookie cuter focus test guy but actually has depth, personality and is interesting. I feel as though that overused image really works against those games in that aspect. It makes you think they're like all the rest and if you're looking for something other than action and combat, it doesn't draw you in.
I wish your statement of "why can't we just buy games that look interesting regardless if the protagonist is male or female?" was true. If we all bought games regardless of the protagonist's gender then we would have way more variety than we currently do. Unfortunately there are a lot of guys who won't play a female character ever and that means they wont buy a game with a female lead no matter how interesting it is. You'll find women are much more likely to be willing to play the opposite gender than men are. If a woman does traditionally "male" things it's seen as a quirk of character or even an awesome step forward (athlete, pilot, doctor, soldier, etc...) however if a man does traditionally "female" things he's seen as weird, wussy, or "gay" (nurse, flight attendant, stay at home dad, etc...). This is hurtful for both genders. It bullies and restricts men and tells everyone that "female or feminine is bad and lesser." This is starting to change in society as a whole but the gaming industry lags far behind socially.

Well, one argument is that a female protagonist might actually make a game more interesting.
I personally don't really care for all the 'representation', 'sexism' or 'muh hurtful gender roles' arguments that tend to be made in this context, but it does seem reasonable to assume that female protagonists would lead to novel approaches in many areas. Games tend to be very formulaic in their storytelling and characters. Having a female protagonist would force them to discard some of these formulas, and that can only be a good thing in my mind.
One example of this is the reboot of the Tomb Raider series. I doubt we would've seen the kind of character development the game had in its first few hours with a male protagonist.
I'd love to see more female protagonists, so long as the change affects more than just character models.

Thank God you guys actually made nice, respective responses. I was afraid I'd be assaulted by some of the people here like I normally see in these forums. It is a shame, though. I loved the Tomb Raider series, and I didn't care that a female was the lead. I grew up with Lara, so maybe my opinion is bias. Dudes do need to grow out of their comfort zone (willing to play a female character) but they shouldn't be forced to just abruptly. Things do take time.
Not gonna role as a gay guy, though. Just isn't my thing. ![]()

Obviously you can choose to play whoever you want to, but that sort of ruins your "buy good games regardless of the protagonist" argument since you apparently wouldn't play a game with a gay man as the main character regardless of how good it is.

I may have written it wrong. I meant that if I was given the choice to make a character that was gay, then I wouldn't do it. It makes me uncomfortable. But hey, who cares? I screwed up.

Listen, guys. I'm not the greatest with words. I haven't been here a long time like some of you have. I don't know what's gonna ****** of X and what's gonna ****** off y. I'm sorry.
Dragon Age Inq. lets you make your own character, correct? You don't choose your sexual preference in the CC. I make my character, and just go along with the flow. If I find Cass to be the one, or Josie, then I'm going in, but I'm just not going to do a M/M because I don't swing that way. It just isn't my thing. It's not like I have anything against gay folks. If I run a FemQuisitor, I'd probably go with Bull or Cullen or someone that I feel suits this female that I made. Hell, maybe I'd even do a F/F run. I just won't do an M/M run because I don't wanna see that, and I have the power to make that happen.
This clearly contradicts my argument of just play the game regardless of the protagonist, though. If a game came out, and the main character was gay or a lesbian, I'd have no power over that, but if the game looked fun, I'd still get it.
Do you get what I'm trying to say?

That's all one can ask for
we all have our preferences and would rather play one thing than another. The problem isn't people like yourself that would still keep their mind open to playing a protagonist of a different race, gender, or orientation even if it wasn't their first choice. The problem is people who will refuse to play or even consider anything outside their favorite. It's the industry's fear of the second type of person that keeps the gaming industry stagnant as far as varied characters go.

I believe that puppyofwar's point is that she would like to see herself in the same shoes as the player character.
For example: Since I'm a guy I can better relate to, or see myself as the male lead. While puppofwar would better relate to, or see herself in a female lead.
I think that's the gist of it (please correct me if I'm wrong).

I'm a male that enjoys playing as a woman protagonist from time to time. I get tired playing as a guy. I for one like to see more games in the future that feature a female as the main character.

Halo Reach did that too, with your created characters, and each one could be male or female if you wanted to and it was completely acknowledged in the story and cutscenes. It was a nice change, especially for a shooter.

Nope, you are fine.
I can run off and join that group for being a dudebro hetero part, though I am not anti-gay. I cant really fit in with their views as I prefer playing females of late more than males. Probably due to the fact, play males alot.
Current female parties are Wasteland 2 and a Champions game I am part of for a tabletop.
If I am interested in the male protag game, I wont hesitate, then again depending on what type of genre. Example, Batman, no issue playing as I see it as an interactive movie. I cant step into his shoes, and its not an RPG anyways. ![]()
RPG's that dont allow a CC, I tend to walk away from.
