I'll probably name like 3 random characters Thor without realizing it. And proceed to confuse myself when trying to pick a save file to play.
Could we please see more of the Lady Inquisitor?

And that's part of the reason why I'm playing a dwarf. I'm betting a lot of folks will be trying out Qunari, if for no other reason than it's something new. The lady Qunari looks interesting, and I'm torn between making her a mage or saving that for my lesbian elf.
Still, I want to give some love to the dwarves. It makes me sad that, in 15 years of BioWare's history, there has been a grand total of one female dwarf companion. I'm going by games that have had some incarnation of the race, whether in Thedas or in D&D. Sigrun's been largely forgotten about by the DA team it seems, due to her being an expansion-only character. A lot of my dwarf's characterization is going to be based off of her, and it's a shame that she's been so side-lined.
Dwarves still don't have an available romance of for their own race, so I figure my vote will help. They are my favorite DA race.

Dwarfs are the best!

The amount of time I spend on name meaning websites is obscene. Also, ask me to date how many A or E name characters I have? I'm freaking attached to that letter for the weirdest reason.

Considering my list I am sure you can imagine how happy I was to hear Morrigan narrating that first trailer we got and seeing Leliana pop up all over the place.
I just sighed. I'm not that fond of Morrigan XD I hope she's less stupid evil.
If I finish my DA:O mage playthrough before DA:I comes out, I'll carry forward into DA:A.
I wish I could have romanced Nathaniel.... *sigh*
You and me both
He and my cousland man. THEY COULD'VE HAD IT ALL.
Except I have 8 planned, so it's just overwhelming
. It's even worse because I'm waiting to the fourth playthrough to romance Cullen and I'm like "WILL I LAST THAT LONG?"
XD yeah that's why I moved my Cullen mance to first place :3 Nothign about Blackwall is really hitting me as a MUST ROMANCE ASAP so he can wait.

Oh my god, it would be the best romance ever. The arc of despising his father, realizing he's actually sweet and trying to atone for his family's atrocities, meeting his sister and then a night of tumbling in the sheets? ![]()

I only plan out names, looks, and personality/motivation. Everything else gets decided in game.
Thanks for the earlier comment, I indeed have one of each race/gender combination
, I'm missing the artificer rogue, though I dunno if I'll ever get to one. As for your actual comment, same, though looks tend to be general-ish till I can get into the CC. My male Qunari will have horns, stubbley beard and dark grey hair (it was supposed to be a cropped cut, but I supposed mudbun it is) with copper skin. My female dwarf will be blond and white, with a nasty scar around her ear. Stuff like that. Names and basic personality are fully wrought out before hand
. Uniqueness is fun!

As for Morrigan, I think that the character will have more come into her own in DAI, so much of her in DAO was based upon Flemeth and their relationship.
And as for Nate... I never had a concrete opinion about him, although I thought that there should've been deeper relationships (not necessarily romance) in DAA.

I will defend Anita's right to be a critic, but I do condemn her lack of research. I don't expect her to play all the games she covers, but come on! There is worse targets out there, and they aren't from obscure companies either.
And this is why, while I hate the way she's been treated and while I do think she has the right to be a critic, I can't take too much of what she says to heart. I've heard a lot of the same arguments as she makes, only towards games that probably deserve it so much more.
I'm not trying to be a blind DA fangirl or anything. I'm well aware that there is a few areas that have some issues in that regard as far as story and presentation. I won't claim nor pretend otherwise. However, her level of absurdity as well as the tunnel vision she's displaying in this case is astonishing.
Blah. I think I'm good about talking about Anita for awhile. Folks that go to the extreme without doing their full lot of research give me a headache.
The problem as i see it is that when a game can be shown to have sexist troupes people judge the validity of the example by comparing it "towards games that probably deserve it so much more." Can we only bring to attention sexism in games by taking examples from games that are the WORST in the industry? Is there no validity of showing that even games that do a VERY good job do seem to fall into using sexist troupes? Doesn't this show that sexist troupes is so prevasive that even the "best" examples have them? And isn't that worth pointing out? Isn't that worth discusting and thinking about?
The fact that she can find examples of these troupes in Bioware games doesn't in fact show she's poor at her research it show the exact oppositie because she is looking for it beyond just the worse case. If someone only shows the worse case that doesn't provide a clear picture. But if you can show sexist troupes in the worse case as well as the best cases they you provide context of just how systemic the problem is.
Anita is simply providing critique she isn't there to review the game she is there to critique the issue she has within the game. That is designed to make people think and think beyond yeah game series X, Y and Z are really bad, but rather to think "you know even the best of our game choices seem to fall into these sexist troupes why is that?"
You don't have to agree with anita for her critique to have value. She is pointing out things that we may want to change about our society. The fact that she gets death threats provides ample evidence that her point that these sexest troupes are harmful has merit. That alone shows how important and valueable her crititque is.

Acantha is my either mage or rogue qunari. Not yet decided. She's going to have the golden ram horns either bald or with a blonde mohawk, bronze skin, orange-y gold eyes and wine red lips.
Eavan is my human rogue. She's going to have red curls, slightly tanned skin with freckles, turquoise eyes, and pink lips.

People seriously, can we please drop the Anita discussion? Whether it's polite or not, we have so many other things to discuss and I don't want us getting locked down so close to 350 pages.
Nope sorry. Its an valid discussion and your fear of a lockdown is no justicication to stifle the conversation. Its topical to the thread, its current as she made an apperance on the topic on a well known show that is broadcast over multiplenations. And it hasn't devolved into a flame war. These are all valid reason to continue the conversation even if it a conversation you don't want to engage in.
I find fear a very poor justification for most things people do.

I'm probably going to play a Qunari Mage. Partly because I've got some idea for a name. Might change my mind if the mercenary company they start out as part of turns out to be overly scummy

Trying to decide whether to play a mage or rogue for my qunari. Qunari is my first playthrough and I've always played a rogue, but maybe a new game is a good time to try out a mage.
Acantha's personality seems more mage-like, but I've got myself in a confoundment.

I'm holding off on playing a qunari until my 3rd rt in the hopes of getting hair mods. It's unlikely but they could happen.
Dalish mage has the potential to be fun and I'm looking forward to playing an elf again.

Yeah, I'm thinking about a Dalish mage too. Of course, being a Qunari mage is tempting. I'm looking forward to playing multiple races again. Oh and since folks were talking about their planned playthroughs, I've only got two so far. My dwarven rogue, and my male gay human warrior. Otherwise, I know I'll try every race eventually, but that's as far as I've planned ahead. Got both of the names picked out though.

I'm going female dwarf first. She'll be paired with my Vey Brosca/Vivan Hawke world state (my canon) Although, I'm kind of afraid to go with my canon first because I'm sure I'm going to mess up somewhere.
but, I have a Cousland, an Amell, a Mahariel and a Tabris (with a Hawke too of course) ready. I am currently finishing up my Aeducan and I'm going to have to try to rush out a Hawke. I wanted to try to get a Serana ready for DAI, but I really don't think I'll have the time and I'll use the Keep to make the worldstate I was planning, I can always do the real thing later.
