You called it boring, not dull, my bad.

I nvr said anything about women as sex objects? I'd be happy to go into it though. ^_^

DA don't really have good example have Isabela debatable. but Mass effect have Everyone would think Miranda ass shots but she was genetically designed to be "perfect". My biggest problem Ashley changed appearance in ME3. Or EDI perverted TIM.

When I said I'm glad I'm not a feminist, that's literally what I meant. Some say that anyone who supports equality at all is a feminist, and in that respect I guess I am. But I'm glad I'm not your brand of feminist, where anything even slightly below your expectation is written off as worthless, or the crazy men hating ones.

There is no such thing as different "brands" of feminism. I have a feeling you don't know what the word means? Here's a link to the wiki definition.

What's your ultimate point in this thread, if I may ask? It moves so fast it's hard to keep up with people's views.

I don't have ultimate point in this thread I just express my opinion on separate post. And if answer to topic Could we please see more of the Lady Inquisitor?

Yes. I don't care much about marketing but I like nice trailers. And don't care what "default" protagonist is.

I'm outta likes again... grrr anyway if I had likes left I would like everypost over the past few pages of Darth, Oceanicsurvivor, Mes and Ispan, seriously great posts thank you.  :D

It's kind of ironic that I was having a conversation with my brother about female superheroines the other day after he told me they were cutting most or all of Rogue form the new x-man movie  :(  (Rogue's been my fav x-woman since i was a kid) and he made the comment that there were more male than female comic characters to draw on than female for x-men and avengers and while that's true I pointed out that there were still plenty of female characters that could have been included in both teams from over the years and been just as interesting and diverse as the men why not show off a few of them? Admittedly most have very bad writing and often fates in the comics but since none of the movies are sticking that closely to the comics with their lore maybe we could have really good portrayals of female heroines too for a change... if only someone would go there and include... not replace males... just include more interesting female heroines that would be fun  :D especially in "ensemble" casts.

Can't remember if I liked all of Brass's recent posts if not I liked them and found them very interesting especially since I've probably spent a lot of time rebelling against those attempts to push me into the "girl toys, shows, books, movies" genres initially because I found them boring and uninspired and later because I resented being forced into a particular 'box' to make someone else happy. I'm fortunate my family has mostly adapted to that now and accepted I like sports (my brother hates them so at least one of us watched them with my grandfather), games, some tech stuff etc. :P

I hear ya, sista!

A lot of unfortunate people tend to say that female superheroes just don't sell, hence why bother creating them.

Heh. A bad workman always blames his tools. Create an interesting and awesome character who happens to be female, and your bloody movie will sell.

I'm pretty far from an extremest dude. If you have a problem with what I've been saying then you are probably going to have a problem with what most women who want to carry on an intelligent conversation about women in media have to say. Also...bringing up man hating   not great.

I guess I'm pretty unintelligent and/or hate myself. I don't have a "problem" with you, you're entitled to your opinion if you let me have mine. Like what I can't even bring up the fact that there are feminists who really really hate men and how I'd not like to be associated with that?

There is no such thing as different "brands" of feminism. I have a feeling you don't know what the word means? Here's a link to the wiki definition.

Oh wow I've never seen that website before, I have now memorised the entire article, thanks. My favourite part is the part that mentions the different branches of feminism.

And I suppose all feminists believe such things as:

""When a woman reaches orgasm with a man she is only collaborating with the patriarchal system, eroticizing her own oppression..."

"To call a man an animal is to flatter him; he's a machine, a walking ******."

and

"Feminism, Socialism, and Communism are one in the same, and Socialist/Communist government is the goal of feminism".

Of course everyone's going to argue who is and isn't a feminist, but you can't say someone is too extreme as much as they can say you're not extreme enough.

I think this.

*snip*

I see.

Well, what can I say to that other than that's incredibly unfair and quite frankly misogynistic.

Nowhere in this thread did anyone say that women should be superior, that men were inferior, that women hate men, blah blah blah.

You got any basis for this incredibly sexist and out of left field claim?

sigh... You said "There is no such thing as different "brands" of feminism."

and then you said you don't believe woman are superior to men. Good for you, not every feminist thinks that way.

Are we there yet?

and do you even read what you link?

A feminist is someone who strives for equality between men and women. A feminist is someone who believes men and women should be equal.

I'm not sure how much clearer I can get. I am assuming you are currently just trolling for the sake of it?

I don't mind continuing this conversation over PM because we've sullied this thread enough. Please PM me if you have more to say.

"Strong female characters" aren't necessarily part of the equality movement.  Often, this idea of a "strong female character" is throwing one cliche woman into a movie so people will think it's progressive and forgive its other mistakes.  The one highly visible, "liberated" buttkicking woman distracts from the otherwise shallow representation of women in many movies.

Equality isn't about making female characters identical to male characters in the media, it's about naturally presenting both genders with the same amount of depth and respect.  We shouldn't have to talk about the inclusion of "strong female characters" because equally representing women and men in books and movies should be commonplace and not newsworthy.

I think they're misunderstanding what 'strong female character' actually means. It doesn't always mean 'badass take no crap super awesomely tough butt kicker' (although it can). Strong female characters means well written, fully developed and complex characters, who can be weak, strong, petty, kind, happy, evil, generous and a range of everything in between. Token badass female characters is half assed excuse at some sort of representation for women.

And yes, agreed, it really should be commonplace.

Absolute );$(&)@:!:!,' bs

If you have nothing productive except inflammatory posts to add to this thread I suggest you leave.

Oh, and reported.

Fox was did not express that as their own opinion. It was merely a slightly misguided attempt at explaining to Mes.

Just because that's your definition of it and/or what the dictionary says it doesn't stop people from having their own ideas. Even the idea of equality is subjective.

Would you even bother to read the things I quoted from some crazier feminists? It's inevitable for there to be extremism in any sort of movement.

HENCE BRANDS

to those uninformed: ignore this, I'm just explaining a thing, no views are being expressed. Carry on

Just type into Google Images: "I need feminism because.." and you'll see the many kinds of things people think constitutes feminism.

Some are legit, others.. not so much. That's all 9Tails was saying.

Okay 'degrees of feminism' aside can we at least agree that seeing more of lady inquisitor would be nice? Maybe hearing something from her too so that people who choose their MC/PC gender based on VA can have a comparison between her and minquisitor one of whom's VA's we've now heard... twice at least I think?

That could be read as seeking a trailer... cause I actually would like that though more artwork would be nice too  ;)

@Ricky Rozay not only are you contributing nothing to this thread but you are trying to derail it against forum rules... you might want to read them to see what I mean.

Edit: nevermind someone cleaned it up, thanks.
