Could we please see more of the Lady Inquisitor?

Man's best friend, ma'am.

And a scientists worst enemy. Just because 'someone read it on Google' doesn't make it fact. The eye rolling scientific absurdity spouted by some online makes me feel ill.

I suspect those new to Bioware and Dragon Age may expect more instruction in game than 'just google it'.

On topic. How about that fem inquisitor hey?

Ahem, ahem...

Yeah, sarcasm.

And point taken   :P

I would very much prefer it if the next trailer and/or screenshots featured a female Inquisitor. Seems like the smartest move, anyway, so I'd like to think they haven't done it yet because they don't want to show female or non-human models just yet.

Yeah hopefully means they're building up to something good!!

I wonder why they didn't have dude Quizzy be a Qunari or some race besides human. I know that apparently most people play as humans in Dragon Age (that's what I've heard, anyway), so maybe they're thinking that people would be more interested in humans than in other races?

However again I wonder if it comes down to a lack of good marketing practices (and the fact that DA2 had no other options) than anything else. I'd wager if, say, the Qunari were advertised a lot prior to Inquisition's release, we'd see a spike in number of people choosing that race.

Ha Yeah wrote and posted before I saw your reply.

I love google, mostly, but it's not a one stop shop for facts, is my point really.

Yeah. Not to mention it's just... not... good business practice to just leave everything up to people's own initiative to go surfing the net for facts about some game.

Imagine if there were no more movie trailers, and people just had to go online and read about what may or may not be coming out in the near future, read about the plot, read about the characters...

Trailers/commercials are an essential tool to get people interested in your product. :P Not every Bioware fan spends all day every day scouring the forums for scraps of information.

Anyway that initial comment came from the same person who can't fathom how come every single person on god's green earth won't run out and spend hundreds of dollars on a new console right now. So I don't think his statement is worth further discussion.

The chantry symbol was a poor example, you're right.  But how is the Blood Dragon armour not related to the Warden?

The way I see it Blood Dragon armour is just one of the available sets, with no connection to Wardens specifically -- it's associated with some Nevarran dragon hunter, not the Wardens. It has game logo plastered on it, not any Warden imagery. About the only connection with the Warden I can think of is you can put it on the PC, but then you can do that with nearly any armour :)

I'm using "Warden" to refer to the protagonist, not all wardens.  It's a special DLC armour set with the game logo on it, and presumably meant to go on your protagonist, if you're playing a warrior, because it is so very special.  But that's also kind of my point--the Warden (or the protagonist, if you prefer) HAS no clearly defined look, because every armour set, even that one, could be equipped to any other character.  It's the most recognizable armour in the game, and it's not linked to any other character (codex doesn't count), but since the Warden is never shown wearing it in promo materials, it doesn't give all the different possible protagonists a unified look.  That's all that I was saying.

lol  I guess they are inadvertently doing us a favor.

Though I do wish that more people who are opposed to the idea of seeing the Lady Quizzy would actually put effort into composing an intelligent post. Getting a little tired of the trolling.

The reason they resort to trolling is there is no really good, totally understandable, justifiable reason to be opposed to it. None.

I'm guessing they'll go straight human for both genders to appeal to folks outside the fanbase.  It seems more likely new folks would be attracted to the franchise seeing a human protagonist.  However I would love to see a "Choose your Inquisitor" ad showing the different options available.  I'd be more interested if they, as suggested in another thread, released the character creator.

I think there were a few in the earlier pages that sounded a bit angrier than necessary. More often, there are people that think WE'RE angrier than we are. Most of us are just giving a suggestion, and some posters have felt we were like having a falling-down tanty about it.

Okay I just read a lovely post in the "New FemInquisitor art" thread, and I hope this person doesn't mind me re-quoting but:

I didn't really care about the gender shown in the marketing material because it doesn't influence my game, however I'm glad that the presence of the female inquisitor in art is making a lot of people happy.

Halle-freaking-lujah.

This is exactly the kind of attitude that, sadly, a lot of the trolls in this thread are lacking.

If seeing more of the Lady Inquisitor would make a lot of people happy, why the heck would anyone be opposed to that? The whole moronic attitude of "Well I don't want this therefore you shouldn't be able to have it" needs to die a very gruesome, painful death.

I really hope if they do another trailer it'll be more about the mechanics of the game so they can show off the CC that way you can cover the choices between gender and between race very quickly and put a lot of people who like that kind of thing at ease knowing that they don't have to play as a human or guy or whatever they show, but if they do show a Female PC I -strongly- hope that it is not a Qunari unless they got a serious redesign bleh. I know a lot of people like them but there is something about the female Qunari look that I just can not stand. Anyway I hope to see a trailer with CC not set on default male human only (maybe a quick little scroll through the default sets of gender and race?) or a Female PC (again hopefully not a Qunari but thats just my opinion)

I've seen some great Qunari fanart, but thus far the official concept art has been meh to me. Like... she looks like a World of Warcraft hottie babe or something, which in and of itself is not bad, it's just that... That's what women always typically look like in games. Same body shape and proportions as all the rest. Whereas the males are so incredibly varied it's not even funny. :( Anyway that's why I personally am not sold yet on female Qunari.

I sort of agree that they should show a female human Inquisitor, because... for instance I feel like if they create a trailer for a female Qunari, and then some stats roll around after release showing that the female Qunari was not as popular of a choice as say male human, that someone would then use those stats to try to justify never showing female PCs in trailers again. Completely ignoring the fact that it was human versus Qunari, rather than male versus female.

I don't know. It's so easy for everyone to blame shortcomings on women. For instance the failure of that Halle Berry Catwoman movie was blamed on the presumption that audiences just don't like female superheroes. A load of hogwash, of course. The movie failed because it was a crap movie, not because the star was a woman.

*sigh*

Personally, I'd love a female inquisitor who wasn't white.  (The black Lady Shep was my favourite in the first round (before the vote became about hair colour) and I was extremely disappointed when she didn't win.)

Though, you're right. That would probably affect it negatively. In that case, people who don't like it can bite me. lol

Thank you for pretty much summing up for me why I don't like the design of the Qunari women :) They just look to me like they're like is Demona was sexualized only less purple and more gray (don't get me wrong I love Demona and Gargoyles) Its even worse when you look at how the male Qunaris look they look big and bulky and interesting to me shouldn't the females of the same species  reflect that? At least bulk them up in size a little bit make them look like they can birth a ox-man or ox-woman without breaking their pelvis bones geez... (also I get why some people feel male qunari's look generic too but the females are so much worse in this area)

A trailer showing the CC with customizing the Female PC to me would be just as good as a whole trailer around her though both in one would be the best. I do see what you mean though I have some very sexist family members who either insist that a movie with a female lead is not good because woman or two the movie is only popular because hot woman. Also I would love it just love it so much if I could for once watch a movie with male and female leads and not have to constantly hear about how cool or strong the male lead was and how sexy the female lead was. Also it would be nice if sex appeal wasn't as big of a crutch as it tends to be in marketing turns me off to something very quickly. Not saying that theres anything wrong with a character who enjoys sex and happens to be female or that they enjoy dressing in revealing clothes but its getting very tiring. Not saying Bioware has done this either at leas not as far as I know but most of my experience with Bioware is buying used games and this is their first game I've ever been keeping track on.

Please Bioware a Female PC would be just grand to see. I have a lot of people that I know that would be turned onto the game knowing they have a choice in choosing gender at the very least in their character.

Something needs to trigger your interest in a game to bother googling it in the first place though. If I see a game trailer that shows a female pc the chance of me googling it goes up considerably.

Yay Fem Quizzy! I'm very curious to see her. Please bioware!!

I'm just reminded of the thing brass buckles made me think of but dismissed. I wonder how many non-whites play a white character anyway when there's a choice.

Like I play male characters too, not because I'm brainwashed, but because of the different gameplay experience(to varying degrees) or voice actors. But there's very little reason for someone to play a different ethinicity, unless maybe they think it doesn't fit the lore or setting in something like dragon age.

African americans are probably the most well represented in video games and media after whites, albeit in mostly stereotypical themes, but for everyone else? it's a ghost town.

I usually play a variety of ethnicities for my CC characters. Except my Wardens...but that was because it was truly just ugly in the game. The tones were all just poorly rendered. However, as you can see if you look at my Hawkes (I think other people can click the DA2 under my name and see em), there's a bunch of different ones. I also played through every preset available in KOTOR, though I had my favourites. I also made a variety of different Shepards, male and female, of different ethnicities.

But, my mum is an American and my daddy is Iranian, so my family is mixed ethnicity. I don't know if that plays into it at all.

I found this article to be an interesting read. Specifically, several parts of the "checklist" (numbers 7 - from an experience of one of Allan's friends he mentioned here - and 8, 12, 13, 15 and 24 have all appeared here as examples, at least) made me think of some of the reactions in this thread.

Apologies if it was already posted at some point.

I guess we just see it differently then, since to me the Blood Dragon armour was neither memorable nor special -- I thought it's a really tacky DLC piece that none of my characters bothered to wear. As such, it's really not something I consider most recognizable, and I'd expect the Warden-Commander armour set to be mentioned here instead, since it actually is featured regularly in DA:O cg trailers and as such quite a few players seem to choose to wear it.

This reminds me (re: no memorable symbols) the trailer Warden is also shown sporting pretty distinctive tattoo, and I think having it available in game would've gone long way towards establishing "hey, this is DA Warden" recognition of cosplay characters, no matter their other individual features. Not unlike Hawke's blood smear, except less silly.

There are a lot of assumptions being made by both speculators and marketers that certain things will negatively affect sales. Would Avatar have been more popular if the Na'vi were human instead?(it was insanely popular)Same with the Hobbit. Would The Walking Dead game (Telltale) have been more popular if Lee and Clementine had been white? (also popular and critically acclaimed) Would FFXIII series be more popular if Lightning had been a man? Who watches Game of Thrones and goes "this would be so much better if Daenerys was a man!" (or even not watch it at all because half the main characters are women)I think these assumptions are false. People identify with characters if they're well written and relatable, not if they're a certain race or gender. We're not living in the 60's anymore, you can dare to branch out and try to approach 2014 game companies/marketers.
