Plus... you know what?  Guys get their power fantasies.  They get to role play as guys who are strong, guys who are powerful, guys who are cool.  We get women who are... pretty.  Women who are always just pretty.  I want my power fantasy too.  I want to play someone with a superhero physique.

Yes, thank you. This. I want this on t-shirts.

I'd be OK with them being built like linebackers as opposed to body builders.

I was figuring linebackers or the better HW boxers.

Boxers and other combat sports people are probably the closest thing we have in our modern age to full time professional "warriors" (and by warriors I mean guys that carry sword/shield as opposed to soldiers in these days).  Very few of them have that bodybuilder look as they would run out of energy quick.

Fair enough haha but Cass should still need a step stool to threaten femQunari Inquisitor with a sword like she did manquisitor. :P

I'll settle for an imposing sihloutte and being the second largest person in the Inquisition-she should still do a bit of towering over people like Feathers and Cullen.

Chances are Cass will just elevate her arm more. Maybe have it so the tip is at your throat instead of the side.

You'll probably be the second biggest, yeah. They are probably a head above human males.

The problem with that is that MHawke was already beefier than most boxers, so to differentiate qunaris you need to escalate. Or give them a flabbier look.

To be clear: I don't find muscles attractive.  At all.  Especially when it gets to Iron Bull's level of ridiculousness.  That's just not what does it for me.

So when I say that I want the female qunari to be beefy, it's not because it's what I think is attractive (although I find nothing wrong with finding muscly women attractive).  It's because the physical differences between the races are one of the things that make them interesting.  And because I am so, so tired of female characters having the exact same thin body, even when their role in the story demands that they be physically strong.

This.  This is what I want.

Spoiler

I get that, but like with the picture you linked I don't see that as much different than what Rasaan was in the more realistic drawing of her. The arms are a little thicker in your picture, but then your picture has the woman flexing so that happens. That and again I swear people with tans look buffer than people without tans. I don't know why though.

And I get you want what you want. And I want what I want, which is a character who is more on the lithe side. I just want it on the Qunari because that plus the other appearance factors makes a very striking character to me.

Because they're supposed to be an alien race I think there were some interesting opportunities for creating a very different genetic makeup available to the devs.

Well they had that opportunity in Mass Effect as well, and they didn't really take it then either, did they? The majority of the female aliens we see are Asari, and they're basically human women, except blue. They totally play straight into that old-timey sci-fi fantasy of the 'space babe'.

And when we finally see Tali's face, she doesn't look particularly different from a human woman. Meanwhile, the most prominent male party member across all three games is a giant gross bug with mandibles and everything. If they were aiming for non-traditional beauty, they should've made a female Krogan love interest.

When it comes to women generally, BioWare does not stray very far from traditional standards of 'beauty', while men have a wide range of appearances. Sera is freakin' adorable, Solas looks like a meth addict. Cassandra has a wide jaw? We have the villain from Legend. Vivienne shaves her head? Well we've got Cousin It over here.

Not that I really want them to stray away from traditional standards of beauty. If anything, I wish the guys were more in line with it.

Exactly, why does every woman have to be "attractive?" and "sexy?" Why can't they be powerful, scary, intimidating, etc...especially on a made up, non human race? I also think it would look more fitting if female Qunari had very small breasts. (and this coming from someone who normally prefers giant ones) The look of skinny or toned or muscular with balloon implants for the obvious purpose of titillating men and boys is irritating and off-putting to me and this is the last thing I want Qunari women looking like in game

You called him a bug, which he is not. I was simply clarifying.

Who says they can't be both? There's plenty of attractive ladies who are powerful, scary, intimidating, etc.

He's not a bird either, they were simply clarifying that he has no evolutionary roots or connection to any Earth species.

Turians are a type of bird-mammal hybrid I believe one of the devs said.

Either is fine, the only thing that keeps popping into my mind is the "sexy sorceress" type which is not actually intimidating or powerful but is presented that way when really it's just a different flavor of sexualization.

I know there was a distinct lack of differences between the female races in ME too, I was kinda hoping different team for DA might lead to a more diverse outcome but sadly not so far. :(

I think it's kind of ironic many of us female gamers are looking for a little more diversity in females and you'd like a little more generic look in the male department though I have no idea on 'attractive' for men I read a lot of complaints about your choices so yeah... I sympathise.  ^_^

In fiction or real life people?

How 'bout both.  ;)

Well, to be fair, fetishization is literally unavoidable. Everything everywhere is sexy to someone.

Okay. Well, these characters for starters.

Spoiler

All three are beautiful women, yet none of them I would want to get on their bad side of.

Well, I can't speak for all gay men, but my tastes, though somewhat varied, are decidedly mainstream, while the male party members in Inquisition all seem to veer to some extreme or the other.

The only thing that sets me apart from the other gay guys I know is that I kind of have a thing for glasses. Especially those giant coke-bottle lenses that you always see "nerdy" guys wearing in movies. The rising popularity of contact lenses and laser surgery is the worst thing that ever happened to me.  :(

I'm not talking about the fact that someone may be turned on by red hair or dark skin, but when female characters are built in away that society almost unanimously agrees is sexy (big breasts, slim waist and arms, voluptuous-but-not-too-big hips and butt, shapely legs) then they are dressed skimpy and posed in a way that is meant to be suggestive (arched back, spread legs, thrust out chest, etc...)

Don't get me wrong, I completely agree with you.
