I'm using past companions as a base. We haven't seen the female bodies either.

Well, and his chest hair apparently. :P

How could I forget the chest hair...!! :D

Anyway my point I guess is that even though all the male companions are probably going to be toned and muscly and what have you, at least they've all got very different body shapes.

All the women have basically one body shape from what I can tell, implying that only one type of woman can be attractive.

When replying to someone quoting Rhodes who is obviously talking about companions.

How the **** is that "obvious"? I only have a fragment of the quote to work with, and Kaibe also used the word character, not companion.

And who cares if he was talking specifically about companions in that one instance? There are characters in the world besides companions, and their appearance also matters.

Are we seriously going to play 'Who's The Biggest Pedant'? Because I'm pretty sure I'll win.

lol

I'd bet all the human men have basically the same body shape as well if we stripped them down.

Fine, you want random characters. There are at most 10 men with the fat body types in the games. Every other man has the same build as the companions. Likewise, there have been a couple women with the fat body type.

Show me a fat male companion. Sure every woman companion has an attractive body, but so does every man companion.

, Oghren, Justice(tell me rotting body is attractive?), Garrus, Wrex, Mordin, Zaeed. All are not on the usual attractive scale. Some people wanted to romance them or did, but none of them are considered conventionally attractive at all.

I agree that the bodies all had to fit a model so all have nice bods. But look at the face. Short hair is the norm or put up. Suddenly short hair does not make her suddenly not attractive or a thick jaw. None of them have huge scars that scratch out most of their face, none of them are rotting, or have cartilage/batfaces/Green fish face with gills.

Now, once again that said, at least Bioware is trying to show different ideas of beauty. That people are complaining about them even a bit stepping outside of these tiny boxes of what constitutes woman beauty shows that is the first step. Have women with pixie cuts and thick jaws and bald, high fashion mages. Maybe we can move beyond that as well.

But all the bodies being toned and muscly is a pretty narrow range for men as well. It takes a great deal of effort to be in that kind of shape, and it's actually not the case that all men can be toned in the same way naturally or have the same type of muscles. Take, for example, the DA2 male upper-body. Women are forced into a narrower band than men, however.

Women have one shape, but men really only get 2 (or three, if you happen to think the Qunari Jacked McSteroids is also an attractive body). Dwarven female and bodies arguably count as a second attractive shape, so it's really 2 for women and 3 for men. Narrow and restrictive, and worse for women because of all of the historical issues associated with the female body and attractiveness that just don't exist for men, but still narrow for both.

Inquisitor: "Alright, everyone, strip."

Companions: "Why, Inquisitor?"

I: "I need to check something. You know, for science."

*companions strip*

I: "Mmmhmm, just as I thought. Okay, you can get dressed."

*Inquisitor writes something on paper and sends it via messenger bird*

*messenger arrives in another Thedas and lands to another Inquisitor*

Inquisitor 2: "Huh, they were right."

:P

Because the female qunari is awesome over the male qunari?

We've been looking at this all wrong. The question isn't "Why are the Female Qunari so different from the Male Qunari?" The question should be "Why are the Male Qunari so different from the Female Qunari?"

Seriously though the female Qunari look great. The males look...just...*facepalms*

You can do buff without doofy as the human male and elf male show.

When you look at the male qunari from about the chest down, the proportions look about the same as the human male. But then his shoulders are HUGE and his arms look like he inflated them with saline implants. You can see for example that the abdomen is very similar to the human abdomen, but the biceps are twice as big.

Also, cup size on female elves is completely unreasonable.

I still disagree other than a few cosmetic differences they look practically the same as the human female. Also am I the only one who sees how every female version has almost an impossible thin waist?

Ah I see what you mean. I knew something was off wasn't sure exactly what XD Either way it looks silly. Then there's that I'm hulk expression he's wearing. Ugh.

Edit: Yeah her breasts are big for her frame. Merrill thankfully doesn't have that issue. (For what I've noticed anyway).

I always thought that was the point. They're slightly different looking humans. That's was the case in DAO (also to me at least it explains them being able to breed with one another). Then DA2 had those god ugly elves and ridiculous looking male Qunari. Elves look like they're being toned back to human looking.

And yeah the waists are small jeez. And everyone's a damn hourglass. >_>

You're right about the expression. I didn't notice that after first, but it actually looks like the men just get progressively more unhappy from the pretty jovial dwarf, to the smirking elf, to the neutral human, to the "I'm angry you injected my arms with saline" qunari.

Edit: While on the subject, the problem with the female Qunari is not her build per se (though arguably she should be thicker to match the hulk to her right) but the fact that her abdomen is cuts in. It's hard to describe right, but compare her stomach to the elf's stomach. If she had his stomach she'd look more built (her arms are about as thick as his comparatively). That's what makes her look off - she doesn't have an hourglass shape, even, she just has an actual X shape to her body.

No that only happened because they couldnt actually make another model. If they could Qunari as they look in DA2 was the idea. IT was lack of resources rather than actual intent that sten looks the way he does.

XD that's the first thing I noticed really. I was all "what's he pissed off about damn." LOL

Yeah I just noticed that myself. I was all "everyone's an hourglass except fem Qunari...wait...huh?" Yeah the triangle is too sharp. I'm not sure what she needs other than it's too sharp *shrugs* I'm terrible at art and anatomy.

True. I just really rather they look like giant humans cause DA2 isn't doing anything for me. They look...ugh.

I just noticed the issue with the concept art!

These would be the heroes. So every hero is as muscular as he can be to show off what a great hero he is and every woman is..,as skinny, big Boobed and curvy to show how pretty she is.

There is a long standing that in media Men Do, Women Are. And looks show this. Muscles mean you can lift more, throw more, fight bigger. They imply capability, while the women are beautiful, but little else is implied about them.
