No, that's not how it works. The only time the Warden ever shows any emotion besides what is expressed in text, which is completely external from the character itself, are some *sadface* in the Noble Human Origin and in the Return to Ostagar DLC.

This is not a matter of interpretation, it's a matter of factual events within the game.

The characters I created in Origins I imagine as emotional entities, but they never express it. The voiced protagonist allows the PC to actually express emotion.

I'm not saying it's impossible with a mute character, but it was not the case in Origins.

Not to mention it makes talking to companions less awkward.

Also Laura Bailey for Elf Inquisitor!

Laura Bailey would be a great female VA for female inquisitor IMHO

Ugh, I would hate that! She voices everything and her voice and acting is always the same. I'm so sick of her.

If Jennifer Hale voiced the female inquisitor... I would never tear myself away from the game. :P I LOVE her. She is the reason I developed a crush on my own ME character. AMAZING. She's got it all.

a dream come true - Jen Hale as fem Qunari  <3  <3  <3 . That would be awesome:).

I can't get enough Laura for my ears. B)

As much as I love her voice, I am inclined to have someone new for the game.  I would like a change in style from what we all expect

I love Hale's British accent. Loved it for the first time when I played Lionheart, loved it again in KoTOR then I loved it in Planescape and then I REALLY loved in BI. Lutece was such an awesome character. But her voice is now instantly recognizable to me and I imagine she comes with a MASSIVE price-tag so I'd actually prefer if it was someone else. As long as she has more affect than the male who seems to be shaping up to be another gravelly monotone. ~sigh~

I right now am thinking that there will be one voice actor per gender and no difference for the races, just from the one comment about the voice actor used to narrate the World of Thedas video, for the comment I read was "That is the voice of the male inquisitor" and not "one of" to me that means only one voice.  Now I can be wrong for I am probably reading way too much into a short comment, but it sets my expectations low.

Now as far as who I would like to voice the female inquisitor, I would like it to be someone new just because I think having someone new and maybe even never worked for BioWare in the past would be a nice change of pace, since they have a new voice artist for the male inquisitor I probably will be going that route first.

I never had any trouble roleplaying my Hawkes, even when voiced. I suppose its a mater of how much you're willing to lose control of your character.

On topic, I rarely play female PCs but when I do I like them to be deep and emotive. Jennifer Hale fits the bill.

I heard a rumor it was going to be Milla Jovovich because she's very good with handling the undead.

I will make a human rogue named Alice if that happens.

Another one that would be nice is Xanthe Elbrick. She does the most perfect 'evil' voice I've heard in a video game. She's the female Sith Inquisitor in SWTOR.

I could so get behind that  , I loved my Sith Inquisitor and the way that Xanthe portraied her (if my avatar was not indication enough), it is the only time in any game where the voice-work was in complete accord with how I wanted my character to act and speak, and almost every single time even.

Only problem would be that if miss Elbrick did voice the female DAI Inquisitor I would never be able to play as anything but an evil girl with a penchant for snarkiness  ;)

David Gaider corrected it and said "one of" the voices. Of course, he was just reminding people that there is still a Female Inquisitor.

I figure that there will only be one voice for each just because of the "emotive" wheel or whatever the working name for it is. It sounds like each Inquisitor is going to have to read each line in several tones before it is all said and done. Don't see them wanting to repeat that process for each of the races. They might add a pitch slider. So you can adjust the pitch of the Inquisitor's voice ala the Sims or Soul Calibur? So you can have that deep and husky Qunari along with a chipper sounding elf.

Unless they want to take volunteers. I will gladly donate my time and voice to recording ALL the lines and ALL the tones if they would like to provide options. Heheh.

I agree.  I still don't understand why having a voiced protagonist is so necessary.

Because unvoiced protagonists are boring and non-emotional.

The Warden was a brick wall.

^ this.

I played DA:O before ME, and my observations are thus:

The dialogue tree is almost entirely up to the player. You can make your own protagonist with the amount of options available. I liked it A LOT while playing DA:O. When DA2 came out I was like: WTF dialogue wheel?? NO.

I didn't realize how awesome the dialogue wheel was until I played through mass effect from start to finish. Fem Shep started as a generic "insert yourself" protagonist. As the story progressed I still felt like Shepard, but she kind of developed her own character at the same time, and when it was all said and done I felt lost, for both the character, and for myself (who was the character).

I don't know. Dialogue wheel is worth it! More choice is not always necessarily better. And that's my opinion (also vodka and beer).

For the American accent, my dream is Grey Delisle doing her "Azula" voice (also see the Diablo 3 Female Wizard voice).  So I can channel her properly on my "watch the world burn" playthrough.

Gina Torres would make a great Femquisitor.  So would Helen Mirren.  But there's no way that'd happen.

I suspect the main voices are all recorded by now; I'm assuming they do them first so that the other characters (companions, npcs) know what they are reacting to.  Anyone know what the usual procedure is for recording voice actors?

That would be great, Azula and the Female Wizard had voicework I would really enjoy for my female inquisitor.

Another I would love to have is Karen Strassman, she has considerably rich and diverse voice-acting talent, and when we are on the subject of more villainous characters, she has done some delightfully diabolical female voices.
