I'd prefer a raven but since that's confirmed to be a no go I'd take anything but a Mabari. Though I think it's sort of confirmed that we're getting horses this time around.

My femDalish wants one of those fennec fox looking things, femQunari a dragonling, femHuman a catari (unknown cat species about the size of a mabari), and for femDwarf, a desert scorpion.

Personally I would rather not have an animal companion. To me that is just a waste of a slot.

On a more serious note, give me mabari or... don't give me mabari, I guess. But it'd be nice. They make awesome tanks.

I think it'll be a dragon.  It's a bit of a stretch, but we've seen the Inquisitor interacting with dragons in concept art.  If rumors are true, then the Inquisitor has some kind of connection to the Old Gods, which are supposedly male versions of high dragons.  If we can communicate with one, we may be able to communicate with another, lesser dragon.  Like I said, it's a stretch, but it'd be cool to see.

I'm going traditional and say I want a cat. Or a bird. As long as we have some kind of pet that isn't a dog or maleficent creature that lives in the ground I'm good.

If they do have such a companion, obviously it'll be Rook the Raven.

 

Don't quoth the Gaider, "Nevermore". Rook is too cool for such blatant hatred against avian kind.

I mean, come on, it's not Rook's fault his awesomeness can one shot high dragons during in-house testing.

 

Just as it wasn't his fault he and his street crew used Shale as target practice.

I want a mabari for tradition's sake.  I can't say I'm too keen on the idea of a dragon, as it feels a bit OP/lore straining.

 

Maybe a wyvern?  That'd do it for me.

They have already confirmed that the crow/raven is not an animal companion. It was only put in the concept art for appearance sake.

 

For me, I'd say mabari for the sake of tradition. (that I like giving him questionable names) But if he is a temporary summonable creature I just don't want to know. He had less of a presence in DA2 which I just didn't like.
