I just got Awakening. Where do I talk about it?

My first attempt was a new character.  An Orlesian  sword and shield Warden.  Skipping to the end part:  I think I set the game to easy for the high dragon and hopefully I set the game to Hard for the mother.  I think I was incedibly lucky  to defeat the mother.  Just me and Anders at the end.  Anders did all the work at the end.  I allowed the architect  to live 'cause I watched a let's play and she did it the other way.

My second game with a character I did in Origins is a DW Rogue that I respected with manual of focus to have more strength because I'm scared of the children.  I'm currently looking for crystals. although I don't find then all  that's what I'm doing right now.  Some how we beat the high dragon and the queen of black marsh on Hard.  I have Justice, Velenna, and Nate Howel.

So can you do a cunning rogue and get through to the end?  I didn't want to try.

Awakening is a great game except for all the running around getting lost.  I didn't do the side quests which were too hard for me.  I don't know how to make runes and I don't want to know.

What was your first game through like?

Awakenings is a considerable drop in difficulty compared to Origins. Especially for archers or if you have an archer in the party. Accuracy makes those guys massively overpowered.

So yes, any build is feasible - more so than Origins even.

Check the wikia for quests-it will help to avoid the bugs in Awakenings.

Runemaking isn't that bad-just really tedious.

I liked the first playthrough. A nice bit of political commentary, and there were some nice cameos as well. The whole thing felt like I was saving the world once again, and the Mother and Architect were intriguing enemies.

Wow the Architect was tough.  Fortunately he turned his back on my rogue and I back stabbed him to death.  Any easier way to get his life bar down?

I don't know how you beat the mother without a duel wielding somebody.  Next time should I bring sigrun?  Or stick with Nathaniel?

I don't quite remember my first awakening playthrough. But these are generally very fun, getting to see the warden become a uberpowered killing machine.

CUNN backstabbing rogues get massive bonus from the Shadow specialization; they can do much more than just get through to the end. CUNN archers though still viable would seem lackluster in comparison to their DEX counterparts.

The easiest-fastest way to kill the architect is probably to rush it with dual wielders.

An archer can deal massive amount of damage to the mother from range, whether that be Sigrun or Nate. A tank to keep the mother occupied, a rogue to dispatch the reinforcements swiftly and then switch to ranged, at least one mage- that's the general template I like following.

I figure that if I bring Sigrun I'd have to play as her but if I bring Nathaniel I can just play my player character.

The rune making was a good idea, but there never seemed like I had enough time to really get it going before the game was over. I have played it 3 times, twice with my OC characters (one mage arcane warrior and one warrior) and once as a new warden. I liked playing with my origin character a lot better.

My usual party is Sigrun and Nathaniel (with either Anders or Velanna).  Architect isn't left standing long enough to be a serious threat (at least on Normal Diff).  Unsure about anything harder, I am not very good with these kinds of games and tend to die a lot at those settings.  Mother lasts a bit longer and her adds make the fight horrendous if it goes on too long, but I usually reach the conclusion.

My usual Warden is a Surana, though I have played with Sword and Board Couslands (male and female rulers) and a DW warrior Orlesian.

Do you kill the prisoner in the deep roads who might spread disease? I let him go once and killed him once.

I didn't have that much trouble with the Architect in my last Awakenings playthrough; the Mother was another story. I know I had One with Nature up, but also used a lot of my standard spells in that one.

Now I'm looking for a Greater Warmth Balm to make a bow or something.  :)

Oops I meant a sword.  I made Oghren a two-handed sword of Vigilance.  To bad I couldn't use it with my dagger build!

 The Mother boss-battle made easy:

1.) take all-ranged party (mages and archers only), mages must have Glyph of Repulsion.

2.) stand outside The Mother's melee-range and cast Glyph of Repulsion on the ground.

3.) position whole party on Glyph of Repulsion Island and press the "Hold" button so they stay.

4.) if you have both possible mages, have the other one cast 'Glyph in the same spot after it wears off.

5.) stand back, keep hitting the mother relentlessly with staves, bows, and/or crossbows... and watch her melt in front of your eyes.

Awakening was the worst possible use of many great ideas. Practically everything in it could have made for a significantly better game than Origins, if it was allowed to be a full game, but everything was truncated in such a way that the ideas used in it are practically unable to be repeated... though Inquisition may be trying a few. Maybe the cancellation of Exalted March was a blessing in disguise...

I found that for Awakening my ideal team was Nate and defintely spec for the rain of arrows if you can because that's a crowd control beast of a thing. Oghren for his brute force killing. He can do some good damage but needs healing. And I was a noble warrior with Anders and heal which does help. That was my best team. Nate is a killing machine especially when you give him the howe bow. Anders does some good damage. I prefer him over the very annoying Velenna who reminds me of the worst things about Morrigan... could they have at least tried to make her a little more unique. Anders and Nate are my favorites though.

Considering what DA2 was, I would have much rathered have a fully realized version of awakening become the game with the best RPG parts of DAO in it and the story as involved as DAO was where you are traveling to different areas and learning about other cultures or meeting the Dalish again and maybe the dwarves... I do like it enough for a DLC but would have preferred it to be fully developed into a whole game as you suggested. It had a lot going for it but it all happens so fast. I never even can get the last teammate I get to do the joining because the war is happening unless I do blackmarsh last which leaves you in a rush to go to the city for justice to do his quest if you acquire him last. And of course it is forced because of the mess they make of Anders in DA2. But it would have made for a great game if they had expanded on the story. Right now, as it stands, I don't see what DA2 added to the story beyond the mage/templar conflict which could have been just as easily part of Awakeing.
