What would Caladrius have to offer in order to really tempt one of your Wardens?

First time I saw him I got a bit scared cuz hes a magister and hes got tons of men in that room. I was considering giving him the gold even if I only had under 200 at that time. But then I heared alistair's and zevran's plea and that got me thinking " this will hurt.... a lot" and ofc I did not even consider his offer in any of my play throughs.

It comes up in the conversation when he reveals that being a Warden is a death sentence. So if you didn't already harbor resentment, it's good enough reason to harbor it then. It's not necessarily being mean. The whole context of that conversation is listening to Alistair go on about how great the Wardens are, and then he reveals this other secret he's been keeping. Then he pouts about everyone dying for the 5th time. So you cut him and say it's what Duncan deserved.

Yep my male rogue is gonna say that. He and Alistair...shall have unique differences XD

But yeah evil my evil characters can't bother cutting the deal with him. They can take even more gold than he's offering off his corpse.

Uncertain, but at this point in my life, it probably would involve something with a lot of carbs and sodium like an all meat topping pizza....

It is ridiculous how little you're offered in return for basically sending your soul to hell.

Examples:

1. The desire demon in the fade who possessed Connor

2. The demon cat in The Stone Prisoner

3. Caladrius

The desire demon offers you a wide variety of things that in the end only slightly help you at best. The demon who wants the girl offers you a shitty staff. Caladrius will give you a whopping 1 point constitution bonus if you let him murder 6 elves and let him go. This is after refusing his first lousy offer of actually paying him 100 gold after slaughtering all his people for a letter implicating Loghain in slavery and letting him leave with his slaves.

So to answer your question, the only offer that should entice a warden who is not pure evil is perhaps immortality or some game-changing power bonus that Bioware wouldn't allow (ex: +50 constitution). At least then a warden with a conscience can rationalize that besides the personal benefits of something like a massive point bonus it would be instrumental in stopping the blight.

Well considering that my Chaotic Evil character was already damned early on, I wound up getting most of those rewards for free.

@ congokong: Connor's demon can unlock Blood Magic and she can give you a spell tome, which was enough to convince my grey Jedi for example. But I think you hit the nail on the head: 'game-changing'. It looks like the designers were under strict orders not to do anything that would have any effect whatsoever, just like the jokers who are responsible for the Ephemeralist's Belt (1% spirit resistance) and lots of similar things. And then they placed a handful of über items where anyone would get them for free (Key to the City, Corruption Helmet, Diligence armour set and so on). I just don't understand it.

I think the armour sets that Wade can make from the scales of 'Andraste' are the only über items that you actually have to earn after a fashion (even though it is by winning a bonus fight instead of selling your soul).

And the thing here is that most of what you need or even better stuff is picked off their corpse as loot after you get it. In fact, I think in DA2 this is an Isabela comment in fights which I found really hysterical.

I wish there was a response in all these situations where you do get the loot that says 'Or I could just kill you and pick it off your dead corpse'. That would be hysterical. Who wouldn't choose that option?

I totally would have used that line on a few!  As it is, I tell him I am going to leave him to the mercies of the elves.

An aside, did you know Caladrius is also voiced by Simon Templeman, as is the Circle mage who is arguing with Alistair when you first meet him.  He has a much smoother voice than I first realized.  I didn't realize he could do any other voice but "I gargle with razor blades daily"-voice.

He's also done some voice work for SW-TOR too.  The funniest one (for me) is the one he does of an Imperial Moff having trouble with his Sith daughter, and has to contract to the Bounty Hunter PC to deal with her.  You're supposed to kill her but there is an option to take her back and she's like "NO!  That's worse!  Just kill me!"

for that evil option,

20 to Strength

20 to Dexterity

30 to Constitution

3,000 to gold

more than skill and talent points to complete your favorite weapon skill tree and all of the skills for your character. Slaughtering innocents should have a  greater reward. What I am suggesting is just a moderate idea.

Well, Simon gets my love for Loghain alone. I may kill him every game, but I also kind of love his character. Not his actions but because at his core he really seems to want to protect ferelden and I get that. I see that there is that ideal. I don't wholly think he is motivated by power but more by that power will help him achieve what he thinks is right. I do believe he really does what he thinks is right. And he is so very forceful about it. Voiced beautifully, a man gone mad by his own fears and paranoia. He goes over to the dark side but his reasons are something I can understand. His motivations are fairly clear. It might be a mad power grab. Maybe he planned it. But it all boils down to protecting ferelden. At least when they got rid of the indoctrination thing that gave him that so that he's not just another Howe. It give him complexity and if we could just imprison him, I would do it for the simple fact that as wrong as his actions were, he really believed he was helping Ferelden. A desperate man but as anora says, an idealist but to HIS ideals only.

The constant yelling really drives it home... the madness of him that is.

I don't accept bribes when the requirement is to ignore my moral compass.  If that prevents me from getting the documents I need to prove that Loghain was selling the elves to Tevinter, so be it.   <_<

Now for my Wardens...

My Dalish dual-wield rogue tried to convince Caladrius to leave everything and run with his life.  Well, Caladrius refused and was soon pwned. When he finally agreed to leave everything behind under the threat of death, my Dalish rogue let him go.

Same with my elf mage, S&S dwarf noble, and my dual-wield rogue dwarf commoner.

My human-hating city elf (2-hander warrior, Berserker, Reaver) didn't even try to negotiate with Caladrius.  His friends, family, and fellow elves were all in cages and being shipped off to the Imperium as slaves.  He showed Caladrius no mercy and killed him.  He was too pissed off to even hear Caladrius' offer before charging at him.  Then he was happily reunited with his father and got everything he could grab as a final 'F#*@ you!' to Caladrius.   B)

The only one who accepted was my 'bastard Cousland', who killed most of his companions. >.> He did it because he wanted.

Otherwise, all my Wardens refused to listen. There's nothing he could offer that would make them join his side.

Technically, all Couslands are bastards. ;)

edit: Wait.. no they're not. Darn.

Always thought bastard just meant a parentless child. Not a child of non-married parents.

In this case, I was thinking of the meaning "a person, especially one who is held to be mean or disagreeable". :D

The idea I like best mentioned so far is conscripting him into the Grey Wardens. Yes, I will let him live if he's willing to kill the Archdemon for us. And when he's not on the top of Fort Drakon, I will have Sten give us instructions on how the Quanari bind mages, so he doesn't get any funny ideas about selling off Zevran.

I've played one or two really evil Wardens because I wanted to see every possible scenario the game has to offer, but those chaotic evil characters are the only ones that would allow him to take off with the slaves.

Short of making the Archdemon turn into a fluffy bunny that I can step on and turning Loghain and Howe into toads, there's nothing he could realistically offer me that allows him to even leave the alienage alive.

He would've had to offer me a new Scion TC.

Nothing. He could have offered my Warden literally anything and she probably still would have killed him with extreme prejudice.
