I was thinking of making the best weapon damage class looks like soldier is more DPS and infiltrator is more burst damage. But for all around gun and shot with sniper and assault rifle who really deals the most DPS? Can't decide I tried both loved both but leaning towards Soldier.

Soldier with particle rifle and explosive incendiary ammo. Inferno grenades as a bonus power. I dunno if it's more damaging, but it's a hell of a lot of fun. Of course I don't play insanity level difficulty or anything. Couldn't say how good that build is on higher difficulties.

venom shotgun on the infiltrator could potentially be the most damaging thing in SP but it feels no different than narrative difficulty

brutes can be one-shotted if charged and atlases can mostly be taken down with all the appropriate damage buffs

Really hard to say whether Soldier or Infiltrator has the greater DPS.

Soldier has Incendiary Ammo with Explosive Burst, whereas Infiltrator has to get it (at 50% effectiveness) from James. But Infiltrator has a native +90% damage for about 2.5 seconds from Tactical Cloak.

Hmmmm...

Assuming you are just talking about weapon DPS, a lot of it depends on other factors as well, such as bonus powers, weapons used, and so on. Infiltrator for example, can pretty much get perma-Marksman by exploiting Cloak's cooldown mechanics which can really increase the Infiltrator's DPS.

Start mixing powers and squadmates in, and it gets muddier. Soldier can exploit some Amplified Concussive Shot craziness, but Infiltrator has Sabotage and Incinerate.

As for Sniper Rifles, only the Infiltrator can one-shot shielded enemies with the Javelin, but both can do it with the Kishock, which the Soldier can instantly reload with Adrenaline Rush for two quick kills.

DPS aside, I think Infiltrator still does combat the easiest of the two classes though, at least in my opinion. But that was not the question.

Infiltrator w/ Marksman under Tac Cloak should get you the highest DPS... at least that is easily calculable.

Soldier with high ROF weapons will take advantage of glitched Incendiary Ammo DOT stacking as well as frequent Explosive Burst stacking, so he can also do very high damage, even if more may be from IA damage rather than pure weapon damage.

Of course you can run 50% incendiary on an Infiltrator if you haul James around to every single mission, even though that probably isn't worthwhile.

I've played both - and I would say it depends on your playstyle. I can take down guys no problem with the infiltrator and fairly quickly. I don't know the stats DPS wise, which I can imagaine would also vary person to person since we're talking about classes. If you're good with a sniper class - I'd reccomend the Infiltrator when it comes to taking our guys pretty quickly. However, I will note that the Reaper forces can be tricker (for me anyway) in comparison to Cerberus troops. Soldier is a good all around class.

Gonna say this about weapons such as the Harrier, Javelin, PPR, Raider, Claymore, Reegar, Hurricane, Collector SMG, Adas, etc. and I'm assuming you're sporting the pure weapon damage(or the headshot damage armor, depending on how good at headshotting you are) armor.

The soldier will get better use out of fast-firing weapons due to adrenaline rush + incendiary ammo. You could also cheese it with the inferno grenade(cheese being that incendiary ammo goes nuts when a dot effect is on the target, most notably from inferno grenade and warp). The ultimate cheese is Reegar with Incendiary ammo and explosive burst rank 6 + shooting something that was previously set on fire from inferno grenade. Everything dies so fast.

Attempting to do the same with the infiltrator yields results that aren't as fast. However, bonus powers like Marksman and Proximity Mine increase your dps to the point where you'll dunk whatever target you're shooting anyway. It's also quite nice to get up in a banshee's face and use cloak, proximity mine, shoot raider shotgun or claymore, watch banshee die or get close to death, repeat as necessary.

I'm not much of a fan of sniping so I utilize ARs, shotguns and SMGs on infs, though I know the Javelin dunks everything under the sun or so it feels like. Try shooting something that's primed for a biotic explosion with warp ammo bonus power and watch it die, for example(as either class).

Also, if you find yourself having trouble living, I recommend Energy Drain as a bonus power for either Soldier or Infiltrator. Abusing cloak's cooldown(shooting or using a power the second you cloak) lets you stay alive throughout fights quite easily for the inf. For the Soldier, Adrenaline Rush's rank 6 to use a power while under the effects pretty much yields the same result but you can do it in bullet time mode.

Bottom line imo, they are pretty much equal in terms of killing power. It just depends on whether you like cloak or adrenaline rush.

Against armor, then the Infiltrator will out-damage the Soldier for sure. Against heavily-shielded enemies like Geth Primes or Atlas Mechs, then the Infiltrator will out-damage the Soldier as well. But versus regular enemies or your elite (basic shielded) enemies, then neither the Soldier or Infiltrator will come out ahead with that loadout, since both classes will one-shot the basics and not break past the shield gate on Insanity.

With the Javelin and a specific build, the Infiltrator can one-shot your typical elite enemy that the Soldier cannot.

However, with the Kishock and Disruptor Ammo, both the Infiltrator and Soldier can one-shot shielded enemies.

Fortification is a good bonus power regardless of class and if you are trying to one-shot everything or not.

The only real question is if you are trying to build around a "DPS" type gun, you could consider Marksman instead (broken under cloak, good with Incendiary Explosive Burst on Soldier).

I like doing that... it's what I do. :(

But yeah, sometimes I want to bring other ppl instead of just James ALL the time.

Probably Marksman Infiltrator, max damage cloak, and Punisher w/ Heatsink, and HVB.  Or as an Infiltrator you could always go max melee then do a Sabotaged melee from cloak...

I like doing that... it's what I do. :(

Yeah I don't care for James all that much, so I try not to use him that often. :)

I've dominated my way through campagne as a Soldier on Insane (Lvl:60 helps)

Weapon of Choice:

Weapon: M-7 Lancer Mod: Extended Clip & Baral

Bonus Power: (Forget what its called) Look for a mod which will amplify weapon fire speed, this helps take things down super quick! Always use the slow mode when hit with a suprise attack and always freeze screen to plan attacks in this instance, saves a lot of time going back to last save!

Preferable Team:

Liara:

Weapon: N7 Eagle Power: Warp

Javik:

Weapon: M-7 Lancer Power: Dark Channel

(Use Javik's Dark Channel and Combo Biotic Explosion with Liara's Warp) This ensures not only best weapon use but also Biotic if you want more info to stats or builds email me chrisjfortune@gmail.com)

Anyone who plays ME3 on Xbox add me: DIRT5TA

Ive got all ME1 ME2 achievements soon to have me3 just been sidetracked for a long time!
