I think I actually found them in game. It's a for a very brief moment at the beginning of Mass Effect 1 when the Normandy is moving in to dock with the Citadel. I don't recognise those designs from anything else we've seen in the the MEverse and only a Council races' fleet would be parked at the Citadel.

Here's a screen. Those 3 ships in the centre. Is it really them?

What do you guys think?

Good catch. There were no Salarian ships as I can remember. Those are very unique. The design looks similar to the old Shadow Broker's ship.

As much as I wish otherwise, I think those are fuel depots. I could be wrong.

I agree with you.

I'm pretty sure it's the same ship as the one in this picture on the right. It looks like it's of Turian design.

Actually, Asari-Turian design. A fuel depot (this one in Cyone).

Still, it's a shame we didn't get to have one among the miniature models that Shep can buy.

Well bugger. Guess that settles that then.

Still, amazed they went out of the way to design and model them for such a small appearance in ME1.

Scroll down to the Trivia section at the end of that entry. The depot was originally a turian ship, apparently.

I guess it's because of the turian model similarity issue and the fact that they do play a part in ME2 and ME3, as well. Also in ME3 there is a mission connected to fuel depot close to Cyone, even though the mission itself happens in a facility on the planet.

Yes, I know, but it's still a fuel depot now and the question was about Salarian ships anyway.

salarians don't need ships. they surround themselves with space magic and fly anywhere they want to.

I believe this diplomatic ship at the Annos Basin was supposed to be Salarian.

Sure. But at the time of ME1 was it a fuel depot or a turian ship?

I'd say depot, since those existed during ME1 and the wiki also starts with ME1. In ME2 they just added the probes. But everyone can view it the way they want.

Its a shame none are actually seen in the series. I think these fan concepts are pretty cool though:

The toads never committed any ships to battle unless you sabotaged the genophage.

The deploy some when the genophage is cured. I don't remember the name of the unit but you get at least one Salarian fleet for the final battle.

That would've been cool to have.

That is a damned clunky looking thing. Like most fan interpretations I always thought their ships would looks more streamlined like the Asari's.

Actually the clunky design could mean that it's actually Wrex/Wreav's ship.

Now that you said it.. the ship realy looks more like a civilian freighter (what a krogan could use) and not like an 'oficial'/ representative vessel the dalatrass would likely use.

As far as I know the original Art of Mass Effect book depicted concept art for their ships.

What I envisioned as a ship style for the Salarians were what they started off trying to make human ships look like. Like the "Aliance shuttle" model... How they went from seeing that style (and in extent Normandy's style) being the Alliance aesthetic to the clunky cruisers/dreadnoughts we ended up with is... Boggling.

Another, pre-existant style of ships I could easily see as "salarian" would be the Mon-Calamari style from Star Wars, actual orginal trilogy... The MC-80 etc are perfect as Salarian capital ships...

Mon20Calamari20Starships2.jpg

But... It would be tip-toeing around a Lawsuit from mr "Imma idiot durgh" George Lucas... (Albeit be it Disney now)
