This game will always have a special place for me. I know many hated the XIII series and say it "ruined" final fantasy but it was my first FF game that I played myself. I've watched friends play the other ones so I'm not completely unfamiliar with the games. But with FFXIII I got the firsthand experience of playing a JRPG and I really liked it.

 

I'm usually bad at playing RPG games and finishing them in a timely manner (especially if they require hours on end to beat) but with XIII I couldn't stop playing. Everything from the music, story, and characters I enjoyed. As far as it being my first JRPG I did pretty well beating the bosses in this game.Most of the cannon fodder enemies don't require much skill but when you can no longer rely on the auto battle system you really see FFXIII shine. The epic boss fights were really what made this game fun and exciting. The ending was also very satisfying to me as well. I like games where you spend a long time investing and the ending doesn't feel tacked on or super quick. FFXIII felt like a whole package and a good introduction game to me for FF ... and yeah I know plenty will say otherwise but this is just my opinion. Being a fan of FFXIII is not really a popular choice but I won't dislike a game because it's not popular by the majority.
