I don't mind if my Inquisition has a largely Andrastian membership, but I hope that my Inquisitor (especially my future dwarven, qunari and elven one) have the option of following the creators, the stone or whatever the qunari one believes.

I'd like to be able to recruit elves into the Inquisition, as a Dalish Inquisitor.

It seems that while the original Inquisition (of Thedas) was Andrastian in nature (although it only later merged with the Chantry), this new inquisition will not be.

That said, I suspect, particularly, human inquisitors will likely be expected to at least cooperate with the Chantry, if not hold Andastrian beliefs. (There are humans in this world who still hold 'pagan'/non-Andastrian beliefs, but I don't think those will be the cultures the human Quiz will be from in their background.)

I have no desire for you heathen non believes to play a pro chantry inquisitor, however my Human inquisitor will be andrastian, or at least I hope he can be.  It would make no sense to make all the inquisitors atheist.

I'd like to be able to recruit elves into the Inquisition, as a Dalish Inquisitor.

And I hope to recruit them to my inquisition as well.  My inquisitor wants soldiers that can do their job, him being Andrastian doesn't mean he won't use the resources of others.

That was a city elf who hated the Qunari for doing that. The Dalish probably aren't fond the Qunari general attitude, but don't have a specific grudge.

Considering the Dalish won't give up their beliefs for the Chantry, I doubt they will give up their beliefs for the Qun.  Somehow I don't see the dalish going for their keepers becoming serabass nor do I think they will give up their individual freedoms.

Well no of course not. When the Qunari invade they are going to be a great threat to the Dalish elves, probably much greater than the Chantry. And the Dalish are likely to recognize that when the time comes and either fight them or flee. But so far as we know they Dalish don't have the same historical animosity they might have with the humans.

OP:
I admit this has me worried in spite of the reassuring words by Mark Darrah, David Gaider et al. that we aren't forced to be Andrastean or pro-Chantry. The reason is that the term "Inquisition" has both out-of-world associations and in-world historical associations to the Chantry aka the Thedosian Church-analogue. Those associations aren't easily dislodged.

As for Morrigan and her decidedly atheist position in DAO, I've posted about that in this thread. If they retcon that, I'll post an epic rant, that I can promise. It was one thing my main Warden and Morrigan shared.

I don't know if they will go as far as retconning Morrigan but her presence alone has me worried because there has to be some reason why she is back now of all times and its probably because she has changed. And as far as the Inquisition itself goes I hope it boils down to people joining because they want to solve the issue and not just because they are zealots of the chantry but again I have little faith in that because the focus appears to be mages vs. templars and not a focus on the fundamental problems of the chantry itself. But who knows I could be wrong about all this since the games not out and as long my character can believe what he wants (within the bounds of whats reasonable lore wise) then im good.

That was my point. It makes no sense to force the player to be one or the other. I fully expect you to be able to choose.

I don't see why we couldn't, just like I would like to recruit dwarves, whether casteless, surface dwarves, or whoever wants to join if I'm a dwarven inquisitor. They'll likely be outnumbered by the human recruits, but I don't see any reason why I couldn't. Or even recruit elves as a dwarf if they're willing to serve.

What I fear - and I don't use that term lightly - is that they'll pull a Miranda and turn Morrigan into yet another well-adapted good little girl who wants and believes in the usual things. I wouldn't mind it if she lost of some (!) of her disdain for people who aren't prepared to pay the price of a direct confrontation (like she expressed towards the Circle mages in DAO), but that's about as far as I'd want it to go.

Morrigan and Miranda were a lot different than one would think, On the outside both seemed to have a bitchy personality but Miranda was not inherently evil in fact she was, actually a pragmatist. Now, Morrigan on the other hand was Chaotic evil bordering on stupid evil, though you can redeem her through the almighty powers of Character Development.

And they didn't really pull a ''Miranda'' on Miranda (if that makes any sense) out of the blue in ME 3, You can start defrosting her in ME 2 itself.

I don't think they'll pull something that crazy and turn her into some kind of mage.....cheerleader thing but she will change. Since we're using ME analogies I think they might try and turn her into a ME2 Illusive Man where she does horrible things for a good cause but if they go that route I just hope she doesn't further turn into ME3 Illusive Man lol.

I think you can express your belief in whatever you want, but, most of the Inquisition's members will be Andrastian.

Yep.

Still It's amazing that people are still complaining about this no matter how many times it has been addressed by the Devs.

It's impossible to know for sure at this stage, but I would not expect to be able to recruit unique forces into the Inquisition's troops. I think the Inquisition is going to be able to help elves, mages, or dwarves, or templars and such but they are going to remain mostly separate.

This ^^^^

To be a proper Dalish your supposed to believe in the old ways and to be part of the Qun you have to have a role and be placed under the qunari's organized system.  Also to be a Dalish Mage you can't be living by the qun.

From what we've seen so far, the Dalish adhere to the elven cultural beliefs (like viewing magic as a gift of the Creators) and following the faith of the Creators, although the clans tend to vary in their attitudes and behavior.

Plus there is the fact that I believe the Dalish are stated to hate the qunari because they are leading their people and the city elves further away from the old ways.

That was a plot in Dragon Age II involving the Andrastian elves of the Alienage converting to the Qunari, not the Dalish.

I can clear up the latter for Anvos.  That was during the Sar-Qamek quest (a part of the Blackpowder quest chain in Act 2.)  A city elf, the one that orchestrated the whole thing, had her brothers convert to the Qun.  Her intent was always to make the Qunari pay for it, but she became maddened by the gas.  That's where the whole "they've taken us twice" speech comes into play.

Still fairly sure Dalish are not accepting of the Qun since it falls under the same principle as the city elf incident.

Plus the Qunari aren't really the type to offer them a new homeland for support, not to mention the Dalish have seen that play before and it ends in their new homeland destroyed only a couple centuries later.

True, I don't think anyone was arguing that they would join the Qunari.

I agree, Anvos. I doubt the Dalish would submit to the Qun. I can see a conflict arising if the Qunari tried to force the issue.

I can see the Qunari becoming a problem for pretty much everyone who doesn't want to convert to the Qun.

Almost all of my characters have been more or less Andrastian. I plan to continue that tradition in Inquisiton, at least with my human inquisitors. I somewhat like the Chantry.

My characters are cynical and pragmatic. They neither believe nor disblieve in the Maker, but they're pretty sure that everybody is pure, grade-A evil.

Lo and behold, they are usually right.

David Gaider pretty much said that expecting Morrigan to be the exact same after nearly ten years was unrealistic or whatever term he used. But basically, yes. Morrigan will be different.
