There are always some spoilers in trailers. And if they don't use ingame material, people will still complain about fake marketing.
Very true.

Who chose to watch all that content?

I apologize for inapropriate use of F word - heat of the moment.
Rent a PC game?
Demo maybe? Still no?
OK, first and foremost I watch only official BW media released. To my mind devs should take care what they relesa or give proper titles to media in question. How would you feel reading or watching a movie trailer which shows whos the killer (which is revealed at the end)?
And since when "hype" must be generated by relesing most crucial info - storyline? You can boast everything else - gameplay, graphics, combat system, rpg elements and whatnot.
My expectations are mostly story and rpg related - combat and everything else is a secondary feature. And I'd bet most of the audience is the same. With you Bioware its always about the story/plot. So why undermine your strongest asset?
What is the best thing in starting a game? The bug that sucks you in from the beginning and keeps sick till the end (or death do us part)...and I dare to say we already know the whole beginning - you die, get rescued and rebuilt, Illusive lays out his plan, you cooperate due to lack of choice really...the facility you're in is probably attaceked, you have to flee, begin to search out for allies based on Cerberus info...and on and on...
Whers the fun in knowing how the game will start? It supposed to build the interest in you, and you take that away by releasing so many info before the launch.
Besides, BW has a possition in the market and ME set some standards and built pretty firm fanbase which can only spread/grow. So many spoilerous info is not needed or should be better camouflaged, or maybe the releases should be more enigmatic?
I need not to argue, just laying out some points for you to consider...
To me its still just dulling of the experience in favour of so called hype and marketing...which by the way eats a lot resources with 50/50% chance of paying back - all figures are just that - speculations.ExarKun00720 wrote...
You don't think bioware already had several people think up these ideas? They are not mindless husks there, I am sure they had tons of people who said everything you just said, in the end they felt this might work better, even if some others disagreed the decsion was made.
At the end of the day like other said, the decison was made and know you you make the choice to watch those adverts.
I still to this day thinks Pirates of The Carabien: The Black Pearl would have been far me epic if they never used adverts to tell us the Black Pearl was all undead people, but they did and we all lived with it, was it still a good movie? Yeah it was, despite what may have been if that part of the story had been kept secret, it was still fun to watch.

Going back to the OP, if you hate spoilers it's true you probably shouldn't have watched the videos since primarily they are for getting people who are on the fence about the game come over to the side of buying it or for satisfying the unending lust the hardcore fans for tidbits of game insight. Me personally I actually like to find out some small spoilers before a game comes out. Helps me to prepare for what i'm going to face. As long as there are no major spoilers (which there hasn't been) then I'm fine. Most of the stuff they have given away you'll probably find in the first 30 mins of the game anyways. And Chris, Bioware did a good job in marketing this game don't worry about the people who are afraid of learning/seeing game basics

I'm glad they told us that this is going to be a suicide mission, and the object is to survive and complete the mission. Calling it a suicide mission would be misleading if you couldn't die, so to show that they're serious, they tell us "If you're not careful, you can die a permanent death". How this is bad is beyond me. I'd hate to put in 20-30 hrs into a game and then die at the end because I wasn't careful.hangmans tree wrote...
I hope you are right but some remarks convince me otherwise. And I dont think the spoilers are from 1st hour of the game I think it goes much further.
We know one of outcomes of your choices - death. What we dont know are the circumstances...but there is no surprise anymore in this ending.
