Seriously, this topic is sad.

I didn't watch the xfire video so I have no opinion on how any of the developers look one way or another, but why do people feel the need to comment on the looks of female developers/gamers in particular?

Anyway, hopefully shes flattered by your comments, personally I'd be a little creeped out.

Quoted for Truth! How come I have never seen a topic touting a male developer's physical attractiveness? Commend the fact that she is one of the few lead female developers working on a AAA title in the gaming industry; her looks have no bearing whatsoever on any substantive issue relating to the game or female gamers in the larger scheme of things.

You haven't seen it because there is just not that many female gamers to say "well such and such is in really great shape i bet he has amazing abs" or w/e it is women say when they think a guy is cute. Also on that subject i remember watching one of the videos and the lead producer guy, forgot the name, was in great shape from the looks of it. I was thinking wow that breaks the stereotype of the male gamer being an outofshape nerd with glasses.

When I compliment a woman I don't do it in the *whistling fashion* I say you are very pretty and most women I have said this to say thank you or are happy I complimented them. SO honestly a compliment never hurt anyone, so why do you guys care if we post one?

Some people feel offended if you make a compliment.... Just today I did it and the girl I talked to thought I was making fun of her and didn´t like it at all.

I have had that happen before, but really, why would you not want a compliment from somebody? Unless that somebody is a Serial Killer named Steve

Ladies dont get all huffy. Didn't you know that guys do this? You dont think the guys in your offices don't discuss you and your female coworkers when your out of earshot? Christina just has the misfortune of being connected to forums that have almost no decorum or filters.

This forum is full of female gamers, some of whom are rabid posters.

I'm assuming you're one based on your forum name. please correct me if i'm wrong. I guess I didn't make my point clear. What i was trying to point out was the fact that the ratio of female gamers to male gamers is not a good ratio in favor of female gamers. I don't doubt that many post on these forums i'm just saying that if you really wanted to start a "omg this male dev is cute" thread i don't think anyone would put up this big of a fuss. Just seems like you're trying to start another women's movement "we don't get no respect" thing.

I don't think the comments have been that terrible. A few have been creepy but you'll get that just like in the real world there are nice ppl, mean ppl, and creepy ppl.

It's called a backhanded compliment.

JK Rowling is the woman who created Harry Potter. She talks about an event her published set up for her when she first ‘made it big’ and the Philosopher’s Stone movie had just been released. They invited a number of reporters and one wrote a newspaper article that was mostly about how she’d lost quite a bit of weight and was looking good.

Rowling has talked about how surprised she was. She was under the impression that being the NYT biggest bestseller, selling millions of books, and having a massive fan base for one's work was a major accomplishment. It turns out that the important thing is that she lost 15 pounds and manages to fit into a nice size 12 suit.

When a woman DOES something and you compliment her APPEARANCE, you’re insulting her.

Christina Norman didn’t do the XFire stream so she could wow a bunch of gamers with her nice haircut. She didn’t spend the last few years working on the title so people could talk about her looks on the game forums.

But... she doesn't a **** because she is making more money than the average ten people on here combined. So, I repeat, PICTURES, so that I may cast my judgment on this creature!

She gives girl gamers a good name :)

I believe Tracy Espeleta from the Dante's Inferno and Dead Space team gives girl gamers a good name.
C'mon a girl who can think off ****ed up stuff? A man's dream! Normally a girl would panic at the sight of a slug.

Isnt Christina Norman like 40 maybe 45yrs old?

So what really ticks you off is that there was a thread started that didn't compliment the game itself but instead complimented her appearance? There are i don't know how many threads that were started that stated how awesome the game looked in the walkthrough. I think she knows that her work was appreciated. I don't see how two threads that got started on her looks are detrimental to her hard work that she did on the game. She could just as easily find the like 12 other posts that were started to compliment the video and how good the game looks and to thank them both for the walkthrough they did.

On a related note, is it just me, or does Casey Hudson remind anyone else of Sylar from Heroes?

After that video, I want to buy both Christina and Jesse a beer. They seem like really fun people who should look me up if they're ever in my neck of the woods.
