To wind depreciation whenever someone says something is just a sign of shakiness towards your identity. As long as someone thinks, wether it's a male or female, his appearance is more important to others, than his other features (e.g. being a kindhearted person, or talented writer) he or she is just doubtful towards his identity.
Seriously, I'd feel pity for Chris, if she's issues with people calling her attractive. She is one of the Devs of the most awesome game coming out this year and a talented gamer, and I'm quote sure she knows that very well. It's not like anyone says she's just a pretty puppet.

I have to agree, this topic is just pathetic. Calling Norman a ''gamer girl'' and ''hot''. This is about as stupid as it gets, and yes, that is intended offensively.
So if somebody started a thread about how a male developer was hot would that be stupid and offensive? Just curious. Are people allowed to talk about people being hot at all?

Seriously, this topic is sad.
I didn't watch the xfire video so I have no opinion on how any of the developers look one way or another, but why do people feel the need to comment on the looks of female developers/gamers in particular?
Anyway, hopefully shes flattered by your comments, personally I'd be a little creeped out.
Yeah, this.
She's awesome because she's a good developer. I mean it's great that she's attractive, but it just bothers me that when it comes to female developers people treat their beauty (or lack of) as the most important thing.

She was live on today´s Xfire show. If I understand correctly someone from here even uploaded it.

Do they? I am pretty sure people buy games based on whether or not they like the games, they do not check to see what the gender of the developer is and how attractive he or she is.
Why is it so offensive to comment if you find somebody attractive? Should people feel guilty for finding people attractive? Should they bury it deep inside and never let it out?
Or is this the way the guy said she was attractive?

It reminds me of being back in highschool and all the guys on my basketball team would be foaming at the mouth for our sports physical therapist, and she was average looking at best...

She is one of the reasons I love the gaming industry, she's obviously a gamer girl. And a very attractive one at that. This proves that female gamers can indeed be hot. She is just one example.

On a related note, is it just me, or does Casey Hudson remind anyone else of Sylar from Heroes?
Yeah sort of.

I feel embarrassed just reading this stuff. When I was watching the xfire broadcast, I just knew someone was gonna make a "Oh she's hot" thread. And here it is. I remember when Ubisoft was promoting Assassin's Creed and they had the female producer showing it off. man there was a storm of "Oh she's so hot" threads.

I saw a couple of days ago someone posting pictures of AC2's Lead Designer(or something like that) on some website. The writer insinuated that she should have taken her cloths off.
The whole notion of the female gamer has been a bit of a male fantasy. People oogling at Christina can be creepy and wrong because they only see her as a women too be gazed at rather than a skilled programer.

I guess I do not get the distinction. Is there a way to oogle Christina and also see her as good at her job?
By the way is that what game developers do? Program? For some reason I thought programmers were a different job.

Why do people assume they couldn't be?
because of gamer's often less than stellar experience with the ladies, to find one that not only shares our interests but is attractive seems to good to be true.

I think the reason she has the RIGHT to be insulted is that *most* Bioware dudes are seldom subjected to the kind of visual once over that she has been. Did we have thread after thread leching about Jose, or James Henley?
