This is one thing that can really improve immersion, and something I've always personally wanted to see more of in games.

Something like:

Villager 1: Ooohh there goes the Inquisitor, they say he's a great sorcerer!

Villager 2: How did you guess that, the bloody huge staff on his back?

Villager 1: Er, could've been his walking stick! People use staffs for more than magic y'know!

Villager 2: You're an idiot.

This goes doubly for characters to whom it would actually matter, like templars.

Well Skyrim did have the little detail of people remarking on what armour/outfit or lack thereof you had. But as the Inquisitor is a public figure I think this is an unnecessary detail.

Well you bring up a good point - in DA2 my male Hawke showed people he was a mage by demonstrating his powers... Apparently no one was able to guess by the HUGE MAGICAL STAFF at his back.

I would love this, including if they commented on your awesome or crappy armor or mage robes or nakedness. I think I remember in Morrowind people congratulating me on my fancy fancy clothes.

Well, maybe if our Inquisitor could wear some kind of raggy clothes as a disguise, then it would be nice if no one would recognize him/her. That is if we are given the option to not wear our Inquisitor uniform. But, that seems highly unlikely, since they already said the the armor we wear will change depending on who wears it; to maintain character consistency on how one looks.

Oh man, that annoyed the hell out of me in Fable 2.

Hero: "Oh hey, these gloves look nice."

Wife: "WHAT, DID YOU DECIDE TO GIVE UGLINESS A CHANCE?"

I rather like this idea,It would be nice to see other factions comment on you choice of attire,or any other distinctive characteristic of your class/race in one way or the other. You can't walk with a giant staff on your back,or dressed in hides in a place like Val Royeaux, and have the npc's react to it like it's a completely usual sight.

*Unrealistic gaming wet dream*

Inquisitor, in diguise, cloak drawn tightly over their armor with the hood drawn down. Investigating incognito, when suddenly... A RANDOM ENCOUNTER OF 2D6 APPEARS AND BEGINS TERRORIZING THE TOWNSFOLK!

Inquisitor throws back their hood and draws their weapons, dramatically throwing their cloak clear of their soldiers. Villagers gasp and start crying, "The Inquisitor is here! Thank the Maker!"

Ass kicking ensues.

((It could be the 'Press Y to twirl weapons' option for Inquisition. DRAMATIC CLOAK FLARE, VILLAGERS SWOON))

Only if the Elfquistor can do the same.

"Why do other elves forsake shoes? Seems like walking barefoot everywhere would be gross and painful..."

Cullen was such a moron. I'm standing there, wearing mage robes with a big staff on my back. Behind me are Anders and Merrill, similarly equipped.

And he confides in me how much he hates mages. "Mages aren't people like you and me". It made me SO DARN ANGRY that I couldn't just blast him with elemental power right then and there.

other than vague comments on the type of weapons and armor you are wearing I don't see how they could make it happen. there are a lot more separate pieces of armor than in skyrim where the only real sets were the nightingale, thieves guild and brotherhood.

I want to run around butt-naked with my dong bouncing around and all the sexy DTF ladies comment on the impressiveness while old ladies shriek and cover their children's eyes.

That would be a nice little detail to have in-game.
