Has anybody been told where the breath scene is at the end of Mass Effect 3?

I don't think Bioware has officially said where the scene takes place. Speculation amongst players is 1). The Citadel and 2). Earth

Since EC showed that Citadel didn't fall on Earth or anything than obviously Citadel, right where he/she was during Crucible explosion

Well there's a Jessica Merizan tweet saying it's on the Citadel. Take it for what it is.

Why would he be anywhere else?

Citadel or London. (Conduit took him back down before the Crucible exploded.)

It's not like the Citadel or Shepard could just fall down to Earth. Orbits don't work like that.

Nothing wrong with figuring that Shepard made a run for the beam, though.

The blast blew her right into Bioware Edmonton. She is currently playing cards with the Warden and Hawke.

I say she is on the Citadel.

From way back (in 2012), there were many discussions on where Shepard ended up after Destroy's ending. The speculation that she was on Earth may have been from the IT shippers originally, but then theories came from all corners.

Some BSN'ers didn't believe Shepard made it past Harbingers laser attack during the rush toward the beam, thus she only dreamed the ending.

Some speculated that Shepard fell off the Citadel, fell through space and landed on Earth.  I even read one where Shepard was knocked down by the red tube blast and somehow made it back to the beam and ported back to Earth.

Anyhow... it's ALL speculation.

If Jessica said Shepard's body was on the Citadel... I guess that's the best answer.

the question shouldn't really be 'where?' but 'when?'

In his/her tomb. It's death. Stuck in limbo, between paradise and purgatory.

No, no, I'm kidding. It's London by the Vauxhaul train station under some rubble, cause you know, Shepard didn't make it to the "Citadel" didn't make it up the "beam" ( or is it Conduit, everyone Calls it the beam but EDI), and Shep didn't really meet the "catalyst" lololololol.

The ending was a "crucible".... A severe test of wills. A meeting place or the highest importance... You know, Shepard's mind.

The "war" and test is for Shepard's soul.

This is so obvious. But meh... Red, green and blue. It's "art", embrace the suck.

Well, apparently rebars can be seen in the scene so obviously it must be Earth because an alien space station about the internals of which we literally know nothing could not possibly include anything that might resemble rebars.

This only makes sense if the whole of ME3 takes place in Shepard's mind. The Crucible is all over ME3, it doesn't just pop up after the beam.

You're absolutely correct in your interpretation of the "The Crucible is all over the ME3", I agree. Shepard began seeing "grey things in vents" and "Reaper Growls", oily shadows, and whispers in the dark long before the ending. Yes sir. Correct.

ME3 happened. You accomplished your Goals:

-You rallied all fleets and galactic super powers, allied against the Reapers- This is an achievement that happens BEFORE the last dream... TROLLololol.

-You "built" a "crucible" device that has a mysterious origin and was handed DOWN CYCLE TO CYCLE.... Sound Familiar??? Also... Reapers knew about the "Crucible" as did the Leviathans *hehehehe..... But Reaper overlord ("Catalyst") tells you they thought the "plans were lost"... But Javik say's it was sabotaged by Reaper agents.... So... DAFUQ is going on here???? *hint *hint. This ain't the "Crucible" we're looking for!

-Shepard made it back to Earth will all the fleets and Major military powers. All brought to one place. For one final battle.

-Shepard made it to the "Beam" or... Conduit??? Which one is it exactly... Anyway's. Shep made it back, to be greeted by none other than Harbinger.....

Who (harbinger) the oldest, most powerful and wisest Reaper, NEVER LEFT EARTH AFTER THE INVASION OF EARTH-which Harby led.....

Okay???

And I haven't even touched the "Catalyst" yet.

ME1 was real, ME2 was real, ME3 was real . And your choice matters.

Or not... And "Bahd Rieting" dawg

Shepard could be in London still. In that case everything after Harby's laser is an illusion. This is supported by the fact that we get three "fades to white", once after Harby's laser, once after we take the beam up to the Citadel, and once when we go up the elevator to the decision chamber. These fades to white can be seen at the beginning of every dream Shepard has in ME3.

There is also a possibility that Shepard is near the control panel on the Citadel, and only the last part (decision chamber) was a full blown illusion. In that case, the explosion on the Citadel only happened in Shep's mind, and the rubble we see in the breath scene could be the result of the Reapers attacking the Citadel as soon as Shepard picks destroy. Shepard survives with high EMS because there are more war assets to protect Shep.

It's impossible to be certain though.

Analysis of the breath scene shows some weird Reaper artifact, reebar, a cable that can be found on the Citadel, but in the back lies something that looks like an overturned Mako. It's safe to say that people don't agree on where it takes place.

I think the devs wanted us to speculate about Shepards fate and the 3 (post EC - 4) choices. IIRC Michael Gamble said something along those lines.

So, I feel fine speculating to the max!

The uncertainity will become clear with ME4 or MEnextnext -> MEx10.

Not holding my breath tho'.

Ah yes, "where is Shepard?" Then Jessica mentioned somewhere that it's like "Schroedinger's Cat" where Shepard is both alive and dead at the same time. I guess they didn't want to upset the people's head canons where Shepard died after taking that gasp. Ah yes, "Shepard lives." We've dismissed that claim.

This was before the several 300+ page threads wanting some definitive response from Bioware that we never got. We just didn't "get" the ending. We children needed to be spoon fed because we don't understand true "art." So it's up to you whether Shepard lives or dies.
