I know we're months away from the finalized game, and I know we won't get a demo until much closer to time.

I actually expect some kind of demo of the game; DA:O had one and so did DA2.  The difference was that DAO only had a demo of the character creator (if I remember correctly) and DA2 had a demo with no character creation but you could test out the gameplay.  My memory isn't always the best, and it's been a long time since I played the DA2 demo--if there was another demo for DAO, I don't remember it, probably because I uninstalled it when I got the full game.

I'd love to see a bit of both.  Give people the idea of what range they have with characters, and a head start on building one they can port into their game once they officially start playing.  And, give them a taste of how the game will actually play once they start it up.

I love demos.  (Does anyone not love a good demo?)

Yes, please. At least Character Creation. It could also work in lieu of the Keep for some if they also included the option to arrange your Thedosian timeline from the CC generator.

Would be nice, then I could get all my 'Oh my god the lighting makes her look horrible where the hell did that cheek gaunt come from scrapping now' out of the way before the game is actually out.

Please, please let there be a lighting tic option in the CC like in some CC's. Never understood why the CC in Dragon Age were always pitch black (or why you could rotate in ME).

Yeah, even with a much brighter, higher-resolution, larger monitor than I had in my first playthrough, I still can't really tell whether I have selected blue eyes, grey eyes, green eyes, etc.  I can only tell the brown and black eyes for DA:O.  And that's kind of bad, when I'm trying to piece together a character.  The one I'm running now was meant to have green eyes.  They are very blue in the cutscenes.  Oh well.

I'd love a CC demo to keep me busy for a while.  It'd probably keep me happy longer than some full length games and help pass the time until Fall :P

Both would be cool, although I would like a CC demo a lot more. <3 <3 <3

It would be cool to be able to play around with the CC as well as a teaser for the game. That being said I seem remember that with both DA2 and ME3 people used the demo to dig into the game code and major spoilers were posted everywhere. I'd forgo the pleasure of a demo if it meant that all I know about the game before I play it, was what was officially released.

For PC, yes. Consoles didn't get anything for DAO. That said, I prefer a demo for all games.

-_- I don't want any of these things. I'm happy to wait with nothing until "fall."

And back on planet earth... YESSSS for a CC. I'm with some of the rest of you - I could spend a VERY long time creating my character(s) and in a way getting to know him/her.

I would prefer a gameplay demo, with at least one decision making point in the part. I don't care much about a character creator, though I would like to know what the backgrounds are we can choose from.

My only hesitancy with demos are heir very nature. It's usually very difficult to take one portion of the game that would be an effective slice of the gameplay elements you'd want. DA2 did this with its opening scene and, I feel, wound up hurting the game, as it tried to throw you right into the action without any sense of pacing (to my tastes).

Of course, the converse is that a special area/situation is generated strictly for the purposes of the demo, which can consume zots (of course) and also the risk of players saying "wait, this isn't how the demo had it... I feel misled."

I know Chris Priestly had expressed these similar concerns about a DA:I demo back when he was the Community Manager.

I would prefer just a CC, but if they can create a demo that isn't part of the main story I would totally be up for that. I just don't want to know about anything (story wise) that actually occurs in game.

I don't really care about a playable demo so much as getting a chance to play around with the character creator. If there has to be a demo, I personally would prefer it to be based on the demo we've already seen. I'd rather not be spoiled by anything I haven't already seen.

I would prefer a CC, I would spend hours on it. Though I wouldn't complain if that had a demo as well.

Well CC is working for everything now, so I would hope we get a go before the game releases!

Hope this works..

Darn, tried to embed the tweet but it didn't work

I really did like that with Dragon's Dogma, the CC was out and I could tweak to my heart's content until I got the game.

Sounds like they're going to have a demonstration of it at the gaming event they're going to.  He didn't say anything about releasing a demo program for us to play with character creation on.  They probably can't release something like that until all the Inquisitors are finalized or very close to it, and from what Allan Schumacher was saying in another thread, the lady inquisitor is definitely not to that point yet.

I'd love a character creation demo. I wanna finalize all my Inquisitors, and remake my former protagonists in the sexy frostbite engine now so I don't have to sit for 6 hours in front of the screen when the game comes out D':

Gameplay would be nice too, I guess.....

I know. I just thought the tweet was somehow relevant to this thread, which is why I posted it.

Demos are good for managing expectations. On both sides of the screen, I think. Demonstrating that #0 seconds of gameplay the devs are most proud of and the players can't quit. If that's not there, the demo, and the game doesn't sell. The Walking Dead Game is a good example of when it works. Mirrors Edge is an example of when it doesn't. Fable II is probably somewhere in the middle. All, very good games.

If DA:I does a demo, I would recommend making a lengthy one. Include every major aspect of gameplay. Creation, leveling, combat, exploration, inventory and resource management, dialogue, and the effect of choice.

CC would be great, but I don't need a gameplay demo.  It's never well documented enough to be any use.

Honestly, I'd take mechanical documentation instead of a gameplay demo.  I'd rather they tell us how the game works rather than let us play a small part of it while lacking that understanding.
