He never brought up her view on Anders, just mentioned the name

Actually, Fiona, Rhys, and Adrian were brought up in the original post.

The thread was pretty much hijacked by people who talked about Anders, instead of the actual topic of who will be leading the templars now that Lambert is missing.

Wouldn't be surprised if a tin soldier took Lambert's place if only to maintain good public relations.

Lookin' kinda' funny, templars leavin the chantry 'n all that.

What with Mages stirring up trouble all across Thedas, you figure the commoners would get the gist of why they were doing it :P

Only one person mentioned Anders before Lulupad went off

Anyway, on topic I'm sure they'll either elect a new leader or some of the Knight-Commanders might lead

About Merrill being a great person? Not even a little bit.

Great in what sense, Is she a smart person, God no. Is she a kind person, not unless they are elves or mages, that is not kind, that is bias.

In terms of Magic, is she an especially talented Mage, Not really. Is she a strong-willed mage, mingling with demons kinda disproves that.

Naivety does not make you a great person, It just makes you Naive.

Justinia and her followers can spin whatever story they want and a good number of people will believe the Chantry. Especially when the reds show up to play.

The Maker is leading the templars. I thought it was obvious.

Nah, the maker simply caused the stuff to hit the fan, now he stands aside and enjoys his work.

After all, he needs something to amuse himself with between blights.

Assuming the Red Templars become more then a minor annoyance to a random Fereldan Hamlet, and Assuming the Chantry is in a position to speak as one voice when its been implied it isn't.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Templars relegated internal decisions to vote, while leaving overall field command to the individual Knight Commanders.

Well, it depends. Although Lambert was Lord Seeker, he still had to have had a subordinate, a second in command. Seekers still outrank the Templars, so I would think that there would be a different Seeker in charge now.

In a thread asking for opinions about who might fill the power vacuum in Lambert's absense, I don't see how his views on Anders really matter.

Is that what the thread us about? No offense to the OP, but I honestly couldn't tell.

I think we'll see a mix of former and new faces step up to fill the obvious gaps in leadership for both Templar factions. I suspect Cassandra and Cullen, if he's included, will both be important for the Chantry loyalists faction, with new faces (or Ser Karras and one or more of Keran's class)leading the breakaway group. It would be nice to see Gregoire show up in an elder statesman/mentor to Cullen type role, but it seems unlikely.

Having given it a little thought, meaning this is a wild a** guess mind you, I suspect the Chantry loyalist will retain the name and Iconography of the traditional Templar Order, while the splinter group adopts new iconography to go along with their new red lyrium. I also expect the Red Templars to be the numerically larger of the two, as befits their role as 'evil mooks we have to kill regardless of what we want to do'. And, to be honest, I expect there to be a faction if Mages that fill the same role on the other side.

They'll almost certainly be one of the main enemy factions, the way they've been presented.

I think the schism over red lyrium use will tear the Order apart, to the point where its disorganization will compare to that of the mages. Except for the Reds, who are likely to be united by some sort of hive mind.

Would love to sit in one of the Internal Templar Meeting :

Knight-Commander BloodLusty proposes that we increase our daily mage execution from 75 to 100, All in favor say 'Aye'

Great, Unanimous Decision in favor of execution.

Meeting Adjourned

I think that the new Venatori are the mage counterpoint to the Red Templars. Granted, in this one situation, I would like to see the Reds portrayed in a tragic light, cause I think that would be some good storytelling.

Great in what sense, Is she a smart person, God no.

Merrill is adept at magic, and she's building a complicated device from lore and information obtained from a shard she successfully cleansed of the taint. That demonstrates intelligence.

Is she a kind person, not unless they are elves or mages, that is not kind, that is bias.

Merrill is nice to people who are neither, like Isabela, Varric, Sebastian, and the Mabari Hound.

In terms of Magic, is she an especially talented Mage, Not really. Is she a strong-willed mage, mingling with demons kinda disproves that.

Merrill is able to discern if the recruit Kerras is possessed. She's also able to identify the nature of spirits, like Torpor, and possessed creatures, like the Profane Abomination.

Also, Audacity is sundered from the Fade and trapped in a statute.

Naivety does not make you a great person, It just makes you Naive.

Culture shock is what Merrill experiences in a culturally foreign city.

As for the templar leadership, I think their focus on apostates like Merrill could also decide how they treat and react to a Dalish or Vashoth mage protagonist.

Funny that you claim not to want one, then make a post to try to bait those who like her into responding, yes?
