This thread is entertaining. I feel a strong sense of deja vu, though....
*noms more popcorn*
I'm actually unsure as to how it will turn out. Most mage and templar threads end in peace, understanding and acceptance of other views.

Welp, one side is kidnapped and enslaved at birth, with the threat of either dying or losing all emotions held over their head, and the other is an army of drug addicts and forced conscripts. I'd say it's pretty fair to say that both are dehumanized by the system they work in.
You'd think, at this point, one or both of them would say: 'hey, we're getting screwed here. We oughta join forces, form a union, work out a better arrangement.'

But, the system that's screwing them both over puts them in a position where they can never work together. I doubt many mages would be willing to work with Templars, and I also doubt many Templars would be willing to work with mages. Simply because of the Chantry's stupid "laws".
But that's a discussion for another thread so I should stop before I prattle on.... *resumes spectation*
Templars are jack-booted thugs. One Templar in particular with a German name is not only compared to the Nazis with his laughably hamfisted "Tranquil Solution" he is also a rapist who lobotomizes his victims!
Mages are loons who are only a moment away from turning into a monstrous killing machine and WILL backstab the player even if it makes no sense.
It's not surprising that instead of investing players in the mage/templar conflict, Dragon Age II ended up alienating many because both sides were intolerably awful and stupid.
I had to like this post because both Master Warder Z and EmissaryofLies liked it. I'm pretty sure the Veil has just been torn Asunder...

Well, now, that's where we come in, isn't it? ![]()
The fact that mages are corralled in one pen with little to no "outside time" unless called upon to perform at an event for a noble or possibly when a world threatening event is taking place (like the whales at Sea World, just with more fireballs).
Also the fact that the Templar order is not in control of the life altering substance that allows them to do their duty and can be cut off on a whim by a party with no direct involvement.
Mages are abominations waiting to happen and so they don't deserve to be treated as people.
Templars are religious zealots who lack the capacity to think for themselves or the ability to develop empathy.
Mages are insane blood mages who want to rule mundanes with an iron fist
Templars don't respect the rule of any law save their own
Dehumanized?
I fail to see how stating obvious truths is dehumanizing.
Oh i thought of one, Ser Otto Alrik having an affair with a Tranquil female apparently indicates all Templars are Rapists who "geld" minds to do so.
Despite you know, All known cases by him have been either unknown or debatable and there was nothing to indicate he was raping any one.
Except for the girl in Anders act 2 quest you mean?
Templars have been referred to as the Chantry's hounds, or as rapid dogs.
In two cultures, mages are physically, permanently separated from and kept silent in society, with the extreme of be shackled and having their mouths sown shut in Qunari society.

When words equate action that may or may not occur and ceases to be mere speculation, then i will acknowledge he did more then speak.
I just cant...Too funny. ![]()

Thank you for your attempt to create a hostile environment by means of claiming that blatant coercion doesn't count as rape. Hopefully, this will be dealt with soon.

If Consent was given free of duress it wasn't coercion and therefore not rape.
:/
Feel free to offer speculation on a matter that ultimately both of us will be content to offer our perspectives on.

I'm not content for your perspective to exist here, as it's wrong, triggering, and potentially exists on the wrong side of harassment.

You're entitled to your perspective Xil of course but forgive me for disagreeing with that assessment of worth coming from...one of such well known bias as you.
