Yes, as it says in WoT. I bundled learning with books as learning from another, I should have been clearer.

Ah.

Was that in WoT and if so what page or chapter ^_^ ? I'd like to see it, that's something I would be interested in.

I don't really mind which God she is, as long as she is one.. because there is just too much power and mystery to that woman for her to turn out as just your local abomination.

It's from the DA wiki, as I'm waiting until this weekend to order WoT.  Some of the information is in WoT, page 174.  The rest can be found via in game conversations and codex.

Risks outweigh the benefits as far as I'm concerned.

Not to mention......DEMONS!

Benefit = staying alive.

There is no risk.

Ending up very likely addicted to a powerful magic that is strengthened with pain and suffering and with a heightened risk of possession?

Oh sure, sign me up for that.  Yep, no risk there.

All is better than finding a templar sword in your chest because you were to weak and cowardly to act.

I'll take death over the very increased chance of a crippling addiction and the possible loss of my soul.  That's just me though.  For my own views, I would consider it far more cowardly of me to trade my values for my life.

And I'm agreeing with TSAR on something.  Weird.

So,from what I gathered in here the Templars are, the primary reason a mage will use blood magic(outside of the imperium).

The level of Irony in this, is too damn high!

Fighting templars without blood magic would be like fighting blindfolded indeed.

There is no addiction, where did you get that from? It's all up to them mage whether to be reckless with their soul or not, it's not about blood magic. And I don't see the point of extending morals to your enemies.

So, there isn't a great chance of getting addicted to blood magic due to it's power?  I never said that blood magic itself was addictive, I've said the power that comes with it is.

My morals aren't being extended to my enemies.  I have no idea how you got that.  I said I'm not going to trade my values about blood magic and mind control for my life.  It's not about my enemies, it's about me remaining true to myself, even if it costs me my life.  Feel free to call that cowardly if you wish.  I think it takes more courage to stay true to your beliefs even at the cost of your own life than taking an easy way out.  Just my opinion.

It's like saying - I'm never having a drink because I might become an alcoholic. There are people in the world for whom it is a valid philosophy, but everything can be controlled and be used in reasonable amount.

You don't have to necessarily control someones mind if you are a blood mage. It's like I said, you will just still be able to blast a templar in the face with a fireball, even after they drain all your mana.

....I don't liken blood magic to booze.  I liken blood magic to much more dangerous substances.  There is substances that I firmly believe should never be tried even once.  That's exactly how I feel about blood magic.

My point hasn't changed.  I would rather die than become a blood mage, but that's my views.  I will not speak for the view of other posters, just my own.

Have I played a blood mage in the DA games?  Yes, once and that was in DA2 to try out the gameplay.

I agree, I think it all boils down to the person in question.

Obviously we mostly hear about cases of Blood Magic fueling addictions for power because it's more common, but that's not to say there aren't some people out there that can control that.

I see both sides, and I'm sort of in the middle.

If you can separate from the RP, I like did, it was a lot of fun.

On the flipside, with blood magic your average mage would be too busy cackling with glee to notice that they've been decapitated by the hidden Templar who flanked them.

I've never been a fan of magic to begin with, I'm more of an Archery, Melee, Sneaky Sneaky, Cloak-and-dagger type.
