Thanks for answering Bryan :) ... One last question that I always wondered about.. Have you ever kicked anyone in the lobby or have anyone kicked/put a kick vote on you??

Yes, I generally kick people for open mics, or trolling.

If they are not skilled I will ask them to leave, (ie level 2 in gold) otherwise I leave the lobby

Thanks for answering my earlier questions.

Do you like the new frostbite engine better than unreal? From an overall and QA perspective.

Is there ever a reason to bring in an all-star gamer to stress the tactical aspects of the game. I'm just thinking about how surprised the devs were at how fast 'we' all beat platinum.

Y no Strength Enhancer IV? :D

Personally yes I prefer frostbite quite a bit to unreal, there is just a lot more "tricks" that I am able to do with it. Plus since it is an EA product we can leverage for development changes a lot easier.

I wasnt surprised at how fast it was beat. It doesnt matter if we have all star or not.

I dont know, bjorn was in charge of that stuff.

You said you weren't put on Mass Effect: NDA, so you may not know, but was the change to the frostbite engine something you guys asked for, or did someone from EA just show up saying, "We're tired of paying Epic. Here, use this instead."

There is some that weren't happy about not using Unreal (because of familarity) but after people saw what it was like by just plugging in the raw art and seeing what the stuff looks like and it was crazy.

Even if EA "forced" it on us, it was the right move, having near everyone on EA working on the same engine will lead to some very impressive things in the future.

Why are there 3 Geth Primes on wave 2 Platinum/Geth?

Who was the sick and twisted mastermind behind it all!!??!?

a single Geth Prime is the most dangerous enemy in the game aside from the Swarmer, a single unit is more dangerous than any other boss, doubled.

Eric and Brenon

Were there any milestones that you (or maybe the devs in general) didn't think would be broken? Like soloing Platinum, or anything like that?

(It's nice to see a good long thread with devs in it again! :))

I personally was surprised by sub 10min games

I also imagine since DAI went Frostbite (reasons for their switch are unfamiliar to me), leveraging all the crazy RPG specific engine work they did was even more reason to go Frostbite with Mass Effect. There is a ton of awesome knowledge sharing and collaboration across all of EA to push this engine and editor in amazing directions.

For content and game system testing, I'm already finding Frostbite to be better; there seem to be a lot more tools to be able to dig deeper into what's going on, in order to provide a better picture of bugs or issues. I find it easier to make test levels with too.

Will there be new challenges?

I would say no, we had questions whether adding new challenges provided performance concerns. Thats why we had banners/titles that were never used

Let's ask brojo a question. :)

Collectors/Platinum wave 10. You have 1 clean up missile left, you can either kill 2 Praetorians, 2 Banshees or 2 Geth Primes.

Which one will you choose?

Praetorians

Hi Bryan,

1) is there an enemy unit you would consider your arch nemesis? (Mine would be the Pyro... what a sneaky bastard he is ;) )

2) You said you like the Frostbite engine, what about the bullet simulation part of the FB engine, do you like that too? and is it possible something like that may appear in a Mass Effect title ;) ?

1) Dragoons

2) That is not a system I deal with, plus Dragon Age doesnt have bullets :P

Indeed if a team invests in something crazy (like lets say Dragon Age made a character creation like Eve has) then possibly all projects could use that without much "cost"

Really? I find Praetorians much easier to deal with than Primes, but I would also say that it is usually more map dependent as well. However, 99% of the time I find 2x Geth Turret (at least, sometimes they manage 2 of them), 2x Combat Drone, and 2x Prime Siege Pulse > Praetorian since they don't attack unless on the ground.

I also have a real question. Any idea what causes the "waiting for other players" more often on certain maps than others (mainly Condor)? If you have answered that I apologize if I missed it.

Honestly not sure why that occurs, I just know it plagued us trying to come up with a reliable repro case for it

In hindsight, Which kit do you think was best balanced?

Conversely, which kit do you think ended up most broken? (Too strong, too weak or just didn't work as you wanted it to)

If you could change one thing about the multiplayer now, what would it be?

I think overall something like the Turian Sentinel is the most balanced.

I think geth trooper ended up being far more powerful than anticipated.

In an ideal world, it would be the 8 enemy limit, I think some maps should be able to support more, ie something like Rio can be boring if they spawn on the other side and you spend the next 10 seconds to get to the action.

Without going into great detail about it, Shockwave's evo 2 makes it so that it periodically stops and starts working. The issue is that the 30% is applied every single cast(and additive with all previous casts) rather than only being applied once.

One thing I was wondering about was why most projectile weapons don't get headshots. The Graal and Kishock both can and have special code for it which suggests it can be done. The only thing I can think of is the AoE nature could lead to every shot being a headshot for those guns.

tbh I kind of feared you coming into this thread :P you tend to know way more about gameplay than me so no idea about the headshot thing

Was the Rio box of shame not an important enough issue, at the time, to be fixed?

I pushed for it, but got shot down... more than once
