Hi All,

I have seen some great area designs in the past, and thought I would try to go a little beyond the norm as well and change the floor and colour of a standard interior design I have made.

So, I changed the floor texture to Estate Floor 1 ... Good ... and then I thought I would change its colour ... Nope! I could not change the colour of the floor.

Are there engine limitations when changing floor colours for different tilesets?

Any help here appreciated.

Many Thanks,
Lance.

Hi All,

OK, After some experimenting, it seems that one cannot tint floors if the textures are switched when using a different tileset.

That was a little disappointing to discover.

If I have this wrong ... or anybody has any workaround suggestions, then please let me know.

Many thanks.
Lance.

EDIT: I just found some floor placeable tiles that can be tinted, so that will work. :)

You might take a look at Kamal_'s tileset project. He has done a lot of work in that area.

Hi rjshae,

Yes, I did think of Kamal when I wrote this post. I'll consider having a look at that as well then.

Thanks for commenting.

Hi. The standard interior does not have a tintmap for the floor. While tintmaps will change to the appropriate one (for instance when swapping between estate floors) when you change them, I suspect what is happening here is it will not swap to the appropriate one because there is not one to start with for standard interior.

Solution. Use the standard interior tiles from my tile pack, as I added tintmaps for the floor. You can just grab the folder for the standard interior tiles, and the folder for the standard interior textures (it contains the tintmaps). If that's all you want, no 2da changes needed.

Hi Kamal,

Thanks for suggesting this. I read all your posts on the old and new forums about this as well to try to understand tilesets a bit more. I'm glad you know about them as it saves a lot of time and I do think you have done a marvellous job of it. So, it looks like I may have to add more "content" to do some of the things I have planned, but it's good to know it's you behind it. (Good support!)

As it doesn't alter 2da's ... that's even more of a bonus! Excellent work Kamal!

Thanks mate!

Lance.
