The newsfeed "likes" and "comments" function allows large groups of users to play around and converse without cluttering the forums with their conversations.

It would be nice to have those functions restored.

It would also be nice to have an explanation is to why they have been disabled.

I agree with Jeremiah.

I was VERY disappointed to see this feature taken away.
I realize that Bioware doesn't owe us anything, but this seemed unreasonable to me and I am genuinely confused. Image IPB

Agree with above comments. I miss being able to comment on friends' status updates and whatnot. Thankfully I have many of them on Steam.

Update: yay it's working again!

If you're looking to make changes to the BSN in order to improve it, I wouldn't recommend removing features that the members frequently use and enjoy.

This.

I'm so utterly disgusted and I hope Bioware are going to get on and fix it pronto.

As we approach the 24 hour mark since the change, may we please receive an explanation of what has happened to the site's functionality?

^ QTF   At least give us news on whether it is intentional or a breakage.  :l

I have made some pretty special friendships JUST because of the ability to comment on others' activity without derailing a thread with commentary.

Please, Bioware, bring this feature back.

It prevents a lot of off-topic discussion and would, I would think, lower the need for heavy moderation.

I really don't understand why this feature disappeared. Especially without any explanation.

**edit**

Fixed. Thanks, Bioware!! Image IPBImage IPBImage IPB

This makes no sense.  Why in the world should someone have to avail themselves of some 3rd party site to get news about Bioware's social network site?  I use neither twitter nor facebook and have no interest in signing up for an account with those (imho) worthless sites just to keep up to date on what is happening here.

And again, because this forum has no "go to first unread post" feature, I had to load the last post and then backtrack a few pages to manually find the last place I'd read.  It boggles my mind that such a large site lacks such a basic function.  I'd spend more time here if it was a more user-friendly experience.

Honestly, wouldn't it be easier for them to just buy a license to vBulletin or some other ready to go forum software and customize it to suite their needs rather than doing it all on their own?

In the threads started by the author the ability of the author  to delete posts or block certain users from posting in threads they  started.

There should be private threads where only likeminded players can post.
