There should be private threads where only likeminded players can post.

Like groups? :P

In the threads started by the author the ability of the author  to delete posts or block certain users from posting in threads they  started.

This is highly unlikely to happen.

not like groups.
I think neoseeker has something like I described .
It'll look like a thread, except only preapproved people can read what's in it and post in it.
shrugs.
Any more rumors about major changes to the BSN next year?

So, what's the official word on a revamped BSN?

I know, but it doesn't stop me from saying I would like to see that.

To not be ridiculed by BW senior employees for posting our honest opinion on something that we have been asked to do so on. This usually occurs when new people coming to the forums innocently post something unpopular with BW for the "nth time" or when a group of people keep advocating for something that certain BW employees don't like. Since the BW senior employees have all the power anyway shouldn't they take the high road? (I guess I am too naive for my own good.)

I have not seen any BioWare employee ridicule BSN users for simply sharing an opinion, let alone with new users, let alone with any regularity. BioWare employee responses are generally respectful and made from the perspective of the people actually working on the project.

That said, the BSN is a public forum, and neither being new, sharing an unpopular opinion, or advocating for something "for the nth time" makes a post/thread immune to response, rebuttal, or debate. "I'm just posting my honest opinion" is not armour against criticism or "honest opinion" in return, and so long as all posts adhere to the Site Rules, the discussion is generally allowed to continue.

All that being said, if you feel you have been unjustly treated by a BioWare employee, Moderator, or another user, please send a report using the usual reporting system. Thank you.

Fans an Devs alike need to have a look at themselves if im honest

I would like the following changes to be made to the BSN.

1) Go to first unread posts in a thread would be a nice feature to have.
2) When I try to find my posts via the 'your posts' feature, it now takes me several pages into the thread, or skips to the end of the thread. It doesn't really find my latest posts (the one that I made) in the thread. It just goes to the end of the therad. This I find would be nice to have altered. On other websites, I visit, when I click on my posts, I can actually see my posts.
3) The ability to collapse and expand forums, Bethesda forums can do this and I think the Obsidian forums also does this. What I mean is this: I'd like a way to expand or collapse forums for DA: Inquistion, Mass Effect 3, NWN1 and NWN2. It could just be a little +/- feature added to each of the main forums on this site. This would create an overview much easier, and also help us find forums like offtopic much easier.
4) Sometimes, not always, but sometimes, I'd like to see better explanations for why a certain thread has been locked. In the past, I have experienced a nice discussion going on, and then a dev/moderator has come and locked it. And sometimes, again not always, but sometimes, I have been like   as to why the thread was locked. Not always, but sometimes.

These are the ideas I have currently.

Start a private group and invite/accept just the people you like/ only agree with you. Then you can finally be a forum rogue state.

The problem I have is not with comments but with people starting multiple threads on the same subject and yes I admit to losing patience at times with those people who do that when they could do a sdarch first then comment on a previous thread as opposed to starting a new one.
Some people maybe be starting what I view as unnecessary threads, not out of curiosity or to start a discussion but for ego gratification purposes.
shrugs.
Being able to merge separate threads on the same topic would make sense, imo.
Treatise writing . That's what I call it.
Massive amounts of writing with multiple quotes, amounting to private conversations on a thread , may be just 2 people , may be 3 or 4 and they in essence hog the thread. Other players who post in the thread are ignored and it becomes in essence a private conversation.
That's another reason for private threads. A mod could step in and say " Hey you guys are hogging the thread. Take it private ." So then the treatise writers could go to a

You can always post a link to the original discussion or report the thread as being a duplicate.

That wouldn't be possible. If you sorted the posts chronologically, there would be responses that didn't make sense within the new order of posts. And you couldn't sort it by discussion, because then you'd essentially have two different threads anyway! :)

I do this already, whenever I see two or three people monopolizing the discussion or having an argument between themselves.

I would like the feed to update automatically, rather than me having to hit refresh. Honestly, that's the only thing Facebook has that BSN doesn't that I really, REALLY want.

Honestly, it doesn't make much sense to tell two posters who dislike each other and argue all of the time to "friend" each other.

It does make sense however to tell them to drop it or keep it between themselves if they can't.

Well, they can't really keep it between themselves with this current system right now. I also think it's kind of dangerous to tell people not to interact with each other because other people feel like they are being left out. If you want people to discuss your points, then bring them up in an interesting way.

That's why certain posters get the attention that they do. They are interesting in one way or another.

well Stan seems to be the only mod who tries to curtail thread hogging.
Neoseeker merges threads.
The site owner is a Canadian, calls himself Redemption.
Maybe he can give the BSN some pointers, help out his fellow Canadians.

I do honestly believe this forum needs a thread merging system.

It was never a problem of losing a conversation in past forums I visited, so I don't feel it should be excluded from potential improvements made to this site.

Can we start allowing threads in OT that deals with religion, culture, politics, news, science and so on? It's getting dull, the only threads here are about other games, films, books and other form of entertainment. Before you tell me to visit forums where such threads are allowed, I'd rather stay here, since the people who posts here are supporters of the same games that I play.

Not gonna happen until the people here who engage in threads of that nature are mature about it and open minded instead of consistently resorting to attacks and slander.
