Jessica may find cosplay easier .
rotfl.
Neoseeker is a huge site with a lot of stuff. They seem to have space, but their problem is a lot of abandoned forum space, if you compare BSN to their site .
BSN just seems to need more features, like thread consolidation and an ignore function/button and more mods who are not Bioware employees and who use proper judgement.

An ignore function would be ideal. Also better quoting that doesn't result in nesting. And private messages which were removed for a very stupid reason. Better moderators that aren't robots who enforce rules with no consistency.

(Polls, Albums, Projects and Blogs) moving to Read-Only as of November 19th 2013, and ultimately phased out of the site.

This is site improvement?? Really?? These are things that make this network stand out from the others.

Please Vote while you still can!!   The dismantling of the BSN

I think the biggest issue here is that we the users do not have any idea of the numbers involved with running this site so we assume that Bio is being unreasonable about how they run the site. What is missing is a clear message from Bio on what Bio wants from the site and how they plan on getting there. Some of us will be disappointed.

I can’t imagine that any site management is going to do anything that hurts the primary objectives of their business. I also do not believe that Bio is altruistic, so there must be some measurables they need to achieve to make running the site worthwhile. I’d just kind of like to know what they are.

I get the feeling that Bio had a good idea when they started the site, but as it matured they found too many anomalies in player behaviours to warrant the investment in certain areas. The changes I would like to see are that Bio publishes their site objectives and then goes and does them. I may be disappointed and I may move on, but that is not any different than any other site I use.

I guess an ignore function would be neat.

I'm a little bit annoyed but not angry.
I'm still very happy with BSN and the fact that Bioware is brave enough to have this community.
A community of fans who will point out criticism.

Some of this criticism is useful, whilst some of the criticism isn't.
Either way, criticism is hard to take. I'm glad that Bioware allows critical feedback.
BSN is also a place that frequently praises Bioware too.
I love this place.:wizard:

That said, I am dissapointed by the removal of polls, blogs, albums and projects.:crying:

This will mean that Home, Games and Groups will be the only remaining sections.:crying:

I was wondering why this decision is being made.
Please if you are someone who is in the know (and not a speculator), could you tell us why these features are being removed?

Besides keeping Projects open (or a version of....), getting either a new spellcheck system, or just tossing it. The English language is peppered with common slang, and the use of words that are not actually English, but still exist in real world languages. It happens so often that the spell check will change a word, incorrectly, even when said word, is NOT spelled wrong. Example: fin-ito (if you spell correctly without the hyphen, it turns the word into "finite"). This happens quite often.

I think even individualizing the botmods would do wonders.

I think keeping the Projects, Albums, Blogs, and Polls would be great. Also, I think PM'ing for non-friends should return. And getting moderators who actually do their jobs would be great.

Also, I believe we should have the ability to upload custom avatars without going through the DACC.

I can 'do' it, but my computer is anal about how the program works, so I can't actually upload anything.

Also, a ban system where if a user gets enough reports from multiple people, a moderator would be informed immediately. Basically a better report function.

Also bring back being able to PM people and just give individual users the ability to turn them off.

Or, you know, you can just block the people harassing you via PMs. Which prevented them from PMing you.

Bioware's response: Due to the fan feedback we've been receiving, we're going to cut all the non-related game forum content, including groups and the OT forum. To counter-balance this, we're going to implement some new, exciting features in the coming months!

Have you thought about merging all of the mass effect and dragon age subforums under one forum for each game with a specific sub-forum for the games? As it is now its just bunch of dead forums no one reads except for the most current game.

Hmm. Interesting idea.:innocent:
I agree with you on this one.
I couldn't find the emoticon I wanted. There is no thinking emoticon. Or angry emoticon for that matter.:(

Please leave Pojects and Add function to delete themes you created some time ago and you have no need now.

I want to be able to control what content ends up on my feed. If my friends are posting in a thread a lot, I want to be able to block it from showing up without blocking them fully. I don't want to go into the forum settings and basically unplugging my entire feed either. Just a by person, or ideally, by thread, would be great. So if a thread is getting up on my feed over and over, I can set it so it doesn't show up.

In another forum I go to there a section where people can personally have it out and have a personal argument. They still get banned if they take it to far. I think giving posters a place to vent their personal frustrations at each other may be a good way to keep it out of threads where it doesn't belong.

Because, as it stands, poor random threads is the only outlet where people can, uh, engage in discussions such as this.

Kind of like /b/ on that one website people don't talk about?

Can we have some kind of official welcome thread so that new users can introduce themselves?

Can we have some kind of official welcome thread so that new users can introduce themselves?

On very rare occasions a "hello world" thread will pop up, and they generally turn out well. I suppose you could create your own, I don't see why not. The issue with that though is it'd never get stickied, and I couldn't make a guess on the frequency of new people coming to say hello. Sometimes the best way to introduce yourself is through conversation via the forums themselves. Off-Topic is relatively laid back.

Keep the polls!

To my knowledge they will be, though not in the form they've been previously. The older versions are done.

Also, I believe we should have the ability to upload custom avatars without going through the DACC.

That's been asked for many years, so I suspect their response won't be changing soon.

I think giving posters a place to vent their personal frustrations at each other may be a good way to keep it out of threads where it doesn't belong.

On the public forums, I couldn't imagine that being allowed.

Okay given how this works this is what I would like bsn to NOT do, cause then you might do it.

DO NOT Have the same features from custom avys to home page personalizations, and DO NOT allow us to make polls on topics. Also DO NOT add in a filtering system for use on bots.

If you DO NOT add these in the forum will be great.

I'd love a Dragon Age Lore forum. Bethesda does something like this with the Elder Scrolls, and it's a quieter corner for those of us who want to discuss setting material and events without having to slog through the main forum and it's million romance/sexual choice/gender marketing/etc threads.

The forums are very cluttered. I think the archived area where they are separated there. I understand a lot of people don't want their posts to be deleted/unviewable so that might help out. I would also change the older games from separate game sections to just "BioWare Legacy". That's just me though.

Could the new mods get renamed to something less generic and more cutesy?

Instead of BiowareMod01, BiowareMod02 and so on, let's get Billy, Snufflebuffle and Bakedbeans.

I was once tempted to pitch the idea of a "Casual Friday", where Moderators/BioWarians/etc. could use a version of their original avatar with a hawaiian shirt, party hat, or something of the festive variety. Optional, to be clear... though it's likely not to happen, it might've lightened things up for a day each week.
