As well, I've noticed a few updates in the new feed that show one user's name and arrow (like this "→") another user's name, and then the first user's comment. What does this indicate? I can't seem to find the comment wall, if that's what that is a notification for.

It means that person1 has posted on person2's wall. You can post a comment on a friend's profile page.

To do that you need to go to someone's page and post in their Profile Feed page.

Seems like you can post text and links. As far as I know, you can't post images.

And I need a news feed with friends forum and group posts. It was the page I visited 99% of the time, now it's gone :'(

I can deal with the white background but the absence of that news feed makes the new BSN unusable to me.

Edit: Okay, to make this post a little more constructive, I'm happy that we got back the private messages to non friends. The forum software will require a little getting used to but it seems nice and powerful so far.

Edit2: I appreciate that you can navigate to previous pages in the status update feed. See how constructive I am.

Any word on if our post counts will get fixed? This is my 15,414th post by my count

The script is still running, last I checked it was at around 50,000 users. It is going slow so that we don't overload the server and it is behind because I accidently closed the original tab I had it running in.


 

Aside from the usual requests which I've said aplenty of already, I wouldn't mind having the option to remove boards from the main page or shrink them. I don't browse the other language boards, they're just there for no real reason in my case. Perhaps the people from those languages wouldn't want to scroll down to reach their respective language board as well, wanting to get rid of the English board.

You can close the language boards. Hover over the main category image and you should see a minus image on the right. Clicking that will collapse it.

Images in sigs again. A less eyeblinding background option for the forums would be nice too. The avatar add on was nice, but taking away other things just opts that out.
As an edit though, good job on the mobile version, clean and easy to navigate.

The ability to changes the forum from white to black. A little complaint but it will stop my eyes melting.

An additional side note--as someone who ISN'T on Pacific time, the post time is a little jarring. The previous method, denoting how long ago the post had been posted, was better.

 

You can set your timezone in your profile setting in the upper right.

 

Click on your user name top right, in the drop down click on "My Settings"

Forum admin is likely working on a darker theme option. For the time being, try one or more of the following:

 

- turn on a light in the room to reduce the blinding glare

- wear sunglasses to cut down on the agonizing pain

- reduce the brightness on your screen so those peepers don't pop unexpectedly

- install an application like f.lux which automatically "warms" your screen's appearance at night

- when staring at a screen for long periods, take off-screen breaks to protect your flawless vision

 

Sarcasm aside, you have options to avoid or reduce the effect of bright white screens.

They should have more themes to choose from. I'm not a fan of the white template. Black is so much better, and once you go black, you'll never go back.

Have I already mentioned an activity feed similar to the one on the legacy BSN, not just one that shows status updates? Something like this. The licensing isn't that expensive either

My damn signature looks like it's a part of the message. I need something like a border between text and signature.

The mobile version should have an option to go to first/last page too. And maybe an option to jump to certain pages rather than clicking on prev/next several times to get there.

The only change I like so far is that it's easier to upload custom avatars..

Must be blind because there is an obvious line separating the signature from the rest of the message...

New engine is more or less good because I can block your posts from now on. But I still explain to you that on Chrome you hardly ever see a border between text and signature.

On Firefox. Border is barely visible.

 

1)Allow images. Allow blocking of signiture images if you need to have it alongside that. Whatever. There's a place for small banners.

 

2)Yeah the border should be more distinct and visible. I can hardly spot it, but I'm viewing this on a tv across the room.
