What changes would you like to see on the BioWare Forum?

As far as changes I would like to see:
* Custom avatars
* Multi-quote: When replying to several people in one post it would be really nice to not have to copy/paste the relevant quotes in Notepad and then into the post edit box.
* Ignore: Please add robust ignore and privacy features. If there is a poster that I find offensive (that one "rape for everyone" guy springs to mind...), I don't want to see anything by them, ever. Not a thread they've made, or a reply they wrote. (Some other user quoting the person is not included, as expecting that would be excessive.)
Please do NOT add:
* Like/dislike buttons.
* Visible post counts and/or cute titles assigned to post amounts.
Both of these are popularity contests and can drag down the quality of forum posts, leading to a degradation of valuable discussion.
Thanks for asking this feedback.

I have always hated the lack of ordinary time stamps with this software. I want to see the real thing, not an estimate.

I would like a developer tracker, like on BioWare/EA's SWTOR forums. A simple thread that contains every single post made by BioWare devs.
I would prefer a system so I can view ONLY Bioware posts for the history of the forums. As mentioned, the Blizzard "blue" tracking feature is fantastic. In addition, an improved search function, with "Posts by Bioware employees" as a criteria would be great.Jessica Merizan wrote...
If I'm understanding your request correctly, you can actually already do this. On the list of threads, you will sometimes see a "BioWare" logo underneath the thread title. That means a staff member has commented somewhere in the thread. If you click the logo it will show you ONLY staff posts in that thread.
If I want to find some official posts talking about "voiced PC", I can just use that function, and it will show me all Bioware posts. Or, to further refine, if I want to look for Mike Laidlaw posts talking about the "voiced PC" it will show me posts by HIM only, so I don't have to save dozens of bookmarks to show people.
Similarly, being able to search by user, so I can include myself if I remember writing a detailed response about some issue I don't want to re-write. In addition, just a log of my own posts would be great for this as well.

The ability to change forum name without having to bother people.
Custom ranks showing up on posts in groups.
More abilities for group mods and leaders, such as being able to move posts to other threads, combine threads, delete comments, the ability to remove someone and "ban" them from that group without having to change the whole group's settings.
Those would all be rather nice.

- Old PM regulations back. The new PM regulations are simply ridiculous.
- A proper search fuction (come on BioWare, you can do better than this).
- Responsive design and/or mobile version of BSN.
- Custom avatar support (right now the only way to get a custom avatar is through DA:O or DA2).
- Make the groups look and function more like the forums. The group layout and functionality right now suck big time.
- Being able to change your forum nickname would be cool but not a must.

You can do that. I forgot which Mod you have to pm, but my original name was spiros9110.

Except you can no longer PM mods (or anyone outside of your friendlist) with the new forum regulatons...

It hadn't occured to me to think of things I wouldn't want to see, but I agree with this. I don't mind the "like" buttons in the newsfeed, but I'm not interested in dealing with "dislike" buttons, or any more "like" buttons than we already have.
And I'm not sure I want a floating counter of my Total Posts under my name, either!

This and easier custom avatars would be the first things to come to my mind, besides a return to a less restrictive PM system.

Communicating via PM can be a very useful way to get a sense of what someone's like before deciding to add them as a friend, and there are many circumstances in which users may want to have private conversations with other posters without adding them to their friends lists.
For example, I once had a misunderstanding with another user in a thread, and we were able to resolve it amicably through PMs.
There isn't currently a way to control which updates from friends show up on one's feed, which might make people hesitant to add someone as a friend every time they want to say something to another user privately.
I'm worried about the effect it might have on forum threads when users who have a private disagreement or want to discuss something off-topic no longer have the option of "taking it to PM" without adding one another as friends first.
I understand the goal of wanting to reduce unwanted PMs, as well as spam from bots, and I'm aware that blocking users isn't always effective when people have multiple accounts, but I would much prefer for each user to simply have the option to block PMs from anyone not on their friends list.

A chat room were we could talk with developers and other Bioware staff in a civilized evnironment every no and then would be nice as well to get an idea of what future (non-classified) projects are llike and feedback for ideas and such, not something all the time but have events every now and then.

Give PM system back
Custom avatar for the others to lazy to use dragon age creator kit, which is free.
Stop banning people over little things
I don't think name change is a good idea, consistently doing this will confuse people and looking at other forums they don't even do this,
oh and a level system like the more post you make you get a certain rank etc under your name:P or badges. Sort of like a reputation system. Alot of forums have these

I don't send PMs often. I don't get PM'd often. And that's an 'often' on a glacial scale- to state, I hardly EVER use PMs. But when I do, the person I'm sending to or receiving from on these forums have only ever once already been a friend. They might BECOME one post-PM, but they were likely never one to begin with. Or the PM winds up being something that actually means something to me.
I suffer from a chronic degenerative auto-immune disease. About 2 years back, there was a post on these forums that highlighted the similarities between Thane's disease & cystic fibrosis. I posted in the thread how hard it was to suffer from a 'but you LOOK just fine!' disease that is crippling you in ways that aren't readily visible but are still there, and how I appreciated people who gave their time, expertise, or money to the cure of any of the multitude of diseases that plague us, or simply support & well-wishes to any who suffer.
I received a few PMs after this. Every single one of them lifted my spirits in ways that I lack the words to express. None of the people who sent me PMs were on my friends list, and to be honest, I probably would not have added strangers to my friends list if I got friends requests out of the blue. If I don't know you, why would I add you as a friend?
This change would have removed the joy I got from those simple messages, because I would never have gotten those messages.

Restricting PMs to 'Friends Only' goes too far. If that is a setting that a person can turn on themselves, that's great. If it's the base rules, that's too far.

Also, some compromise on the no PMing a person not on your friends list does need to be reached.

- Get rid of fake updates
- A proper search engine
- New and better themes and skins
- Allow uploading *.jpg avatars direct and easily. Ban using *.gif avatars.
- Showing how many likes you received in your BSN days. >
- Spoiler tags (open-able window in a comment)
- Add like/dislike buttons (popularity should be acknowledged!)
- Do not show our posts and updates for non-BSNers
