can we create our own polls?

only in the off-topic section.

I think It'd be nice to have something like a trial avi, To see if it fits the profile or not. Only visible to the user doing it.

doesn't that come under preview?

It seems as though I run out of likes every 2 hours.

Need more to give away.

The quotum on likes is pretty ridiculous in my opinion.

What are they protecting people from? Being liked too much or liking too much things?

They're gun-shy after the "Likeageddon of 2013."

According to conversations that I've had with moderators, there was a time when they were instructed not to lock threads that were old, as long as the conversation in them was continuing according to the original subject and rules of the site.

I understand, when a thread is necro'd, and the only conversation is people discussing that it was necro'd (or going off-topic) that locking it helps prevent such "joke necros" from cluttering the forums.

But, in many cases, forumites (especially newer ones) use a "search" function for an existing topic, rather than duplicate a new topic. This practice is actually considered polite in most forums, as it cuts down on extraneous threads. BSN has a different culture on the issue, but I think it makes more sense to go back to the old rule of allowing threads to continue (as long as they're on topic) regardless of what date the thread was created. After all, information and conversation doesn't inherently become irrelevant simply because it isn't new.

Not exactly a criticism, more of a suggestion to return to an older policy that I believe was more effective, and more sensible, given a forum environment (it would also mirror the generally accepted rules of how to approach forums as they are seen on the rest of the internet.)

Wait... what?

I'll see if I can find you a link, but it happened in the old BSN newsfeed, so I have a feeling that it isn't "linkable."

(Brief synopsis: While working on the site, someone accidentally shut off the "like" function in the feed. BSN, in BSN fashion, proceeded to flip out like it was the apocalypse for 3 days until they figured out what happened, and reversed it to restore the like function. Much of BSN proceed to like literally everything in the feed for a couple of days, resulting in even the most innocuous posts receiving 30 or 40 likes from complete strangers. Good times.)

Is there a way to customize the forum's color scheme? If not there should be - it's like staring at the sun.

Lower left hand corner of the screen 'Change theme'.  I'm using Bioware Dark (beta) because I was going blind from the standard theme!

LOL - alright Luna, I surrender.  I'll actually look into a custom avatar.  Later, I've spent too much time on BSN today!

Increase the number of moderators so that there are at least two available 24/7

Yes! Thank you so much. I think I was starting to form cataracts there for a minute.

EDIT: Err, I seem to have accidentally quoted myself before. How awkward. :S

Seriously, thanks MerAnne and luna as well. And Jessica, I'd just like to put forward the idea to make a darker color scheme the default as the white one is just too garish. I'm sure others would appreciate it as well.

I'm not sure pressing the report button does the same thing as hitting change theme.
