What changes would you like to see on the BioWare Forum?

For example is BioWareMod01 used by only one person?
In that case i do not like this as i am never certain who i am talking to or never sure what their views are as different people use the same accounts.
In my opinion it should be one account for each user so we can get to know the people and know how to respond.

They don't exist to talk to us, or for us to get to know them. They exist to moderate. They are the nameless, faceless executors of the site rules.fchopin wrote...

1)Say I want to report someone for flame-baiting which is against the site rule seven, if I hit the report button it asks what I'd be filing a complaint against harassment, but I'm unsure if that actually count as harassment or just spam(I imagine these labels exist for the purpose of prioritizing the response to the reports), and since we're now relying solely on the report feature making the interface more user friendly might make people more likely to use it instead of arguing in the forum.
Updating the list to include things like flame-baiting or trolling or whatever would save people some confusion as to what actually counts as a reportable offense. You don't even need to add line just modify the existing ones to "Harassment/Flame-baiting" or something to that effect, it'll also help clarify what the site rules when reporting people.
2) Just let us upload custom avatars already, seriously a good chunk of us can already work around the restriction, it's pointless.

The search function could also definitely use some work, and being able to access all our posts (as opposed to the last few dozen we made) would be good.

I have a suggestion on another topic. Why can't players who don't own a Bioware game ask questions about it in the appropriate forums .

Well, for example, things such as politics and sometimes DRM are considered taboo on these boards and they typically get locked because they are inappropriate topics. I'm sure there are other topics on this board that are considered taboo or just too out there for posters to post here. What I'm really asking for is for those topics to be included in the official rules so that new members will know what does and doesn't fly around here.

To prevent random community members from disrupting the forums of those who own and wish to discuss the game. The general discussion forums are for those who either haven't played the game yet or wish to discuss the game in general terms. Usually, when the game is released, the General Discussion forum is for non-spoiler discussions.Angrywolves wrote...

The Story and Campaign forum is for detailed discussion of game events, plot, and story. These contain spoilers that may not be appreciated by those who haven't yet played the game. Because the Story and Campaign discussion forum is for those discussing the game with others who have played the game, there really is no need to open it up to non-game-owners.
The banning of an individual community member is not intended to fix issues with the forum or the site. Banning is used as punishment in response to violations of the posted and easily accessible Site Rules. This thread is intended for discussion on what improvements people would like to see on BSN.Perm banning me won't fix the issues on this board.
Issues regarding Moderators and bans should be either REPORTed or taken up with another Moderator or forum admin. While mentioning issues regarding Moderators in public forum posts is generally inappropriate, it is entirely inappropriate to grouse about those issues in multiple threads or go on a crusade about them. There is also a difference between complaints and harassment/abuse to the point of violating the Site Rules. If a user violates the Site Rules, they will be warned/banned for their behaviour, as laid out in those same Site Rules. The next player who is treated unfair by a mod and complains, ban him/her too right? You do believe in justice right ?
At the very worst, the Moderators here are a coterie of irredeemable, power-hungry narcissists who don't care for community members or treating others fairly, and if anyone feels that is the case and that the issue can't/won't be resolved, they are free to join other communities that they feel are run better. Participation in the BSN is completely voluntary.

It's not a bad idea, but we don't have a whole lot of folks claiming ignorance of the Site Rules when making inappropriate posts. Political posts tend to go off-topic and devolve into bickering very easily, so those are generally filed under different Rules. If the community could discuss political issues without violating the rules, I think the community managers would be overjoyed! The Mad Hanar wrote...

As for DRM, discussion is generally permitted, but, again, it usually degenerates into name-calling, company hate, and unproductive discussion. It also encourages discussion of things like software piracy, intellectual property, and business economics, which tends to be off-topic and covered by other rules. Again, if the community could discuss DRM without violating the rules, I think the community managers would be pleased as punch.

Each person who uses that account follows precisely the same rules as another. Their job is to moderate the forums, nothing more. If you have an issue with a given Moderator, you should report it the same way you would if had a problem with me or RaenImrahl. Differentiating between the various users of the Mod accounts is unnecessary for community members. If an issue arises, it will be up to the Mods' bosses to deal with.fchopin wrote...

You don't need to "get to know" the BioWareMod0# accounts. They are here exclusively to enforce the Site Rules. They are not user accounts here to discuss games with you, share opinions, or to make friends with like-minded gamers here. While they are happy to be here and proud to oversee the BSN, they have a specific purpose here for which individual identification and differentiation is unnecessary. In my opinion it should be one account for each user so we can get to know the people and know how to respond.
For everything else, there's Mastercard. And also the named Moderators like me and RaenImrahl and Selene Moonsong and others you might have seen in the other forums on the BSN.
I hope that answers the question. If not, please ask further.

2. A good block system
3. An option to turn off site changes notification messages after you read them. Everytime I log in the PM rule change message pops up. Its a tad annoying.
Now 2 completely unrealistic requests...
1. I want the ability to view the "BioHazard" forum where deleted threads go. First I am curious as to the wonders that forum holds. Also because there have been occasions in the past where people get banned or perma-banned and they cant make a solid appeal if the thread has been deleted/hidden away from us.
2. Random "Hall-Monitors". One day a week the RNG Gods will pick a BSN Hall-Monitor who gets moderator status for that day. The mod status would have shackles obviously (like no ban hammer).

Sometimes, I am trying to find an old post of mine (or someone else) to link it or refer to it. If this post is more than a couple of hours old and if it was in a very active thread, it can be really hard to find. Often I do know when the post was made however and I can quickly go through the pages of a thread to narrow down where it was if I'd see the exact timing of each post.
Of course, it would also be nice to have a couple of additional search functions. For example:
1. Specify boards for your search (e.g. ME3: Fan Creations)
2. Have the ability to searhc for words in a thread title or also in posts
3. Search for posts from specific users in a thread/board
Also, I'd like to request that the recent change about the PMs is reconsidered. Why not simply make a finction for ech account so that members can choose individually if they want to accept PMs from non-friends or not? That would provide everyone with their preferred solution (also see here)
As a last point, I also find the new anonymous moderators not to be a great development for the site. Feels a bit like going from these guys to these guys.

I have asked the same thing in the original topic posted asking for the Community input and agree with the idea.
However I also believe their should be certain restictions to ensure the avatars are in compliance with Site Rules as well as a ban on using animated images used as avatars and signatures as these can have a direct impact on web site performance for community members.
- Either add a Religion and Politics section or allow R&P to be discussed in Off topic.
Unfortunately, such discussions tend to break down into complete anarchy very quickly.
I would love it if we could discuss such topics based solely on in-game religions and politics in a rational and mature manner. My favorate literary works are those based on mythology (particularly fond of Greek mythology).
Unfortunately, those kinds of discussion always end up bringing real-world Religions and Politics into the picture turning them into real world discussions than game discussions. IMHO, there is no place in game forums for such real world discussions.

Along these lines, I'd like it if a bit more leeway was given in controversial topics (IF they're in an appropriate place like off-topic) if users DO appear to be moderating themselves acceptably.
I had a fairly rigorous discussion with a couple of users when the mods seemed to be away about "What is an RPG," and we were behaving ourselves just fine, but it ended up being locked (though later moved to off-topic and opened).
And for something completely different, I would like it if we were allowed, on SOME level, to embed videos. At least to blogs (planning to make a blog on a certain topic and I would like the videos ON the blog instead of linked).

shrugs. Unfair.....but I don't care anymore. Don't care.
One of the few business models I've ever seen where the fans, who are CUSTOMERS after all, who must buy the product aka games for the company to be sucessful, are treated like dirt, unwanted and sneered at and treated like pests. Terrible way to run a business and a forum.
