A year old. There are site rules that seem to apply only to fans and not moderators. Moderators can do whatever they want . There's no accountability . No appeals process if you believe a mod has treated you unfairly. You have no recourse.
If you complain you get banned again, just like I was for 48 hours.
shrugs. Unfair.....but I don't care anymore. Don't care.
One of the few business models I've ever seen where the fans, who are CUSTOMERS after all, who must buy the product aka games for the company to be sucessful, are treated like dirt, unwanted and sneered at and treated like pests. Terrible way to run a business and a forum.

If you are angry about not being able to access the DA3 forum, no worries.  You aren't missing much. Other than oppurtunities to be banned.

As per mods treating people like dirt, I think you are exagurating just a tad bit. Yes, I've had my disagreements with how mods use their "power." They tend to be rather opinionated, often over subjects I find to be total nonsense, and occasionally have loopy rationalization of their actions.
That being said, I've seen worse. Much worse. No, they are not impartial, but no one is.  No, the policies are not always "fair" in wording and enforcement, but it'd be a tad naive to expect them to be- especially when you are not the one footing the bill.  Mods are not politicians that require your vote to retain power. They are appointees to exercise authority to one end or the other.

I could go into further depth into the effect of personality on moderation, but that subject tends to get me in trouble. That and I have to go to work.

I think you are just being a tad dramatic.

Not mad about that. I don't like unfair treatment.
Ultimately how well the fans receive DAI will determine how things proceed in the BSN. If the fans like DAI naysayers and others like me might have to leave. If the fans dislike DAI they'll probably burn down the forum in a figurative sense and it should be quite fun to see the moderators struggle to regain control.
So I' m hoping for some fun. Rotfl.

You have avenues of recourse, but you are not taking them even when they are being offered.

For the third and final time, Angrywolves, I invite you to message me so that we can resolve the issues you don't care about that you keep harping on in this thread. Failure to do so while continuing to complain about it indicates that you're not looking for a solution but maintaining a reason to keep complaining. And that will be considered spam.

You have one week to make your specific grievances known to me in PM, or until you make a post or comment complaining about the moderation or your treatment by moderators again. At that time, if you have not started the process of resolution, I will close your reported issues as resolved and ban you for spam and wasting our time.

A couple of things. I like your avatar of femshep. What is the facecode you use?

The other is that if I recall correctly, you posted awhile back, that you were in the Navy.
Thank you for your serviceImage IPB. Would you be willing to share your story? There is a military group for past and present sevicemembers. The link is in my signature.

Disappointed in you Stan as usual. Sent you a friend request heard nothing back. Just sent you a pm explaining what happened with Raen. Don't expect anything from that either. Don't threaten me . Thanks.

The ability to upload custom avatars.

Go to specific pages on forums, groups, ect.

Change the whole PM thing back to what it was or make it to where you could make it so that the person can choose whether they want to get PM's from people not in their friends list or not.

Make it easier to upload profile pictures. I can't be bothered with the whole DA Character creation thing you gotta do to change your display picture.

Yeah...... Still waiting on you guys to change ME3's horrific endings. sorry I couldn't resist.

On a serious note:

Custom Avatars
Better Privacy setting- like many have said above.
And better mods, but you dance with the date you brought I guess.

This is not a suggestion, but this seems to be a thread that the moderators of this forum have their focus on. I have a question: what are the requirements for posting on the Dragon Age: Inquisition forum?

I don't know for certain, but it's likely that you have to be at least a week old.

Thank you for the answer, I certainly do appriciate it.

I don't agree with those who think that the mods are bad here. You won't be banned because you don't agree with BW's policies or see flaws in the products, unless you are getting rude or use personal attacks. Which I think makes sense. Even though I am supposed to be a critic I have several on my friend list. I've added some and some have added me. It looks like civil discussions are appreciated more than anything.

Also, not all of them work for BW. Those are easy to spot, because they are marked simply as "moderator" and don't have the BW logo under their name. Ninja Stan used to work there, but he switched employers and is still a moderator here.

Working in the games industry is a lot different than other jobs. Besides loving games, it requires to be dedicated, because at times one works incredibly long hours. So one has to be comitted and well motivated. Because of that it's no suprise that the mods employed by BW are passionate about their product and sometimes act defensive much like the hardcore fan boy/girl (which can drive a critic nuts, ghehe). That's only human.

And those not employed by BW are simply passionate fans. As far as I know the only reward they'll get is a X-mas card.

Even those employed by BW are here because they love their product and they aren't payed to post. Of course a community manager or a PR rep are the notable exceptions. It would indeed be odd if they didn't post here at all. ;)

So please, be kind. You are not talking to an instutution, but to real humans here.

Sorry to be off-topic, but I couldn't help myself. ;)

Well, like many others, I want to be able to upload custom avatars without having to take the long process of creating DA characters.

Otherwise, what I want most is a simple app for Android/Apple.

We should be able to remove our own posts if we deem it necessary.

You can edit it blank, but it will still show if people quoted you.

I hate it when people quote me, I edited later, and people are still trying to argue me on the unedited version.

Adopt the policies of RPG Codex. Will solve most problems. At least then I will be able to read BSN without vomiting.

Rational system, any system, for removing actual trolls, to facilitate discussion free of the influence which trolls have on a forum. Many forums seem to default to relying on other users to ignore the trolls in the hopes that they will leave, which may once have worked on listservs or BBS but now gives 'em free rein to do as they please.

Note, by 'troll', I mean users who regularly post intentionally inflammatory material hoping to get a rise out of other users to start big arguments. I don't mean users who engage in otherwise banned behavior like harassing particular users or that kind of thing.

There are several easily recognized ones in the Mass Effect 3 forum right now. Unfortunately, the report system doesn't even have a slot for reporting this offense, common throughout the internet since its earliest days as a consumer service. And, of course, one can't PM mods directly anymore.

Y'ask me, that kind of hands-off moderation is just asking for trouble, even if trouble wasn't routinely on its way anyway.

This is the change BSN needs

Also if executed properly this board could literally be troll proof, considering a lot of boards require you to own the game to post there. So unless people are prepared to re-buy the game every time they make a new account, banning them once ends the problem.

But take this from someone who has one of their threads deleted once a week: The mods are doing their job.

I wish the groups functions had a little more detail like customization and stuff. It just seems rather plain like a crappy version of a facebook feed or PWE's "core" social network. BSN as a whole seems rather basic honestly. Allowing people to customize their profiles, groups and things more would make it a little more unique.

Chat boxes like "Enjins" would be great too. You know a small built in IM service for your friends list.

Hi Jessica, it just occured to me that there is one thing I'd like to see changed which I didn't think about before. It's about writing with colours. Whenever you want to write something with colour, be it a post or a signature, you're better be pretty damn sure you get it right at the first time, because if you try to edit the post/signature later you're in for a loooong work. You edit it, and you lose the colours, So you edit it back to put the colour in, and sometimes it just gets more ****ed up. And so on. I'm sure some techincal guy could find the issue and solve it in no time :)

Cheers!

The war is over. Ninja Stan was true to his word so I am satisfied. No more complaints. For now smiles.

I did see Jessica on youtube. DAI will revolutionize the internet. Let us know how that will un happen. Maybe it can benefit the forum in some as yet unknown way. smiles.

Does it work better if you toggle the bbCode in the edit text box? You can see all the forum code of the post with that view. Clicking it again reverts to WYSIWYG view.

Please make it to where people who blocked you can't comment on your profile. Could you also give us the ability to name change? And the ability to upload a custom avatars without using dragons age origins pc? And Make it to where we don't have to register games to post in the forums.

You suck up to the mods don't you?
