Where did they get the fabric for Vivienne and Cassandra's outfits with the grayish/black/white patterns that look like diamonds in a spiral, the Anderfels.....the Fade.....?  Darkspawn infested caves.....Antiva.....Tevinter?

Does the fabric exist anywhere in real life or am I going to have to learn embroidery and screen printing?

THANKS!

Not really sure exactly what you're looking for detail wise for the fabric, but try www.joann.com. They have a large selection. There's also getting the base color fabric and a fabric in the color of the detail and using fusible web or stitch witch to attach a cut out design without the need of embroidery or screen printing.

Oh, btw, item 13127915 on www.joann.com looks similar to the fabric on Viv's sleeves...

Jessica Merizan, the Community Lead Manager for the forums, did some killer cosplay of both Hawke and one of DA:I Morrigan.  She's very nice and you can PM her.  She could probably give you some tips.

Since it looks just awesome, here's some examples of Jessica's cosplay.

The diamond pattern stuff is probably based on diamond twill; good news is that you can find that kind of weave in linen, wool or even cotton, bad news is that the diamonds themselves are usually way too small. Unless you use a diamond twill rug, but that kind of fabric isn't exactly suitable for a dress.

You might Google for 'diamond twill' plus different kinds of fabric. It's also possible this pattern has been used for curtains, and if the fabric's light enough that might do. Good luck!

If you're ok with $16-30/yard you can print your own on Spoonflower.com.  You have to edit the patterns a little because the edges of the images provided in the character kits are feathered slightly, which leaves very apparent white lines when tiled.  I'd recommend ordering the fabric sampler before you order.  The base fabric they offer is very stiff and meant more for quilting than apparel, but they have some really wonderful options!  This was my plan for Cassandra's angular print, but I think the money would be better spent on the new video card I need to play the game ^_^

Okay, I may need to search for the 'tutorial' for this new site format.    I checked Joannes and found some interesting fabrics.

Item 12016739 looks interesting, but has purple on one edge.

I am turning 40 this year and am going all out with Cassandra Cosplay for when Dragonage Inquisition comes out.

Forget Vegas, I'm going to Dragoncon for the first time with my sisters.  I really hope the folks from Bioware attend this year!

Will have to check out Spoonflower, thanks for the tip!  Will let you all know if I place an order.

Here's the tweaked/tiled pattern if you end up wanting to use it :)  It's not perfect but looked good enough for me!  If you choose to go this route I can also share the actual file I created so you can get the designer discount on the website.  I hope you can find something at Joann's or someplace like that so you can use a 40% off coupon!!
