Well what about things like looking more worn and tired if you're always self sacrificing, getting muscular if you have high strength, getting tanned or sunburned from being in the hot sun too long? Along with things like hair length, maybe stubble, and wear and tear on armor and clothing I think those things would be neat-o although would most likely never happen.

Actually, the armor wear and tear will happen.

Oooh or face looking more haggard the more consecutive days you go without resting.  :D

I suppose this is getting too detailed though.

I think Skyrim had that feature, your character getting eye bags. Not sure though. Haven't played the game in a long time, and I spent more time looking at my characters back than his face.

I don't think it did. The only time your face changes that I am aware of is when you become a vampire.

Considering my character is a Dark Elf, I suppose that's where I got the impression that they had eye bags. So, yeah, I could be wrong

As someone else who plays Dark Elf, yeah I agree that you could get that impression from them on that.

The opportunity was missed in DA 2. DA:I spans 6 or so months I believe, so that's hardly any time to see real change on someone, physically. Battle scars, maybe, as long as you can turn them off. God knows I always modded out the old age and scars from Fable:TLC, all those years ago.

They do, but that's a dark elf thing, not an unrested thing. My dark elves always look like they need a nap XD

One of the things that the Tomb Raider reboot did well was making Lara look like she had been fighting for her life for days on end. The character model gets progressively more wear and tear as you progress. At the end she is just covered in dirt, grime and blood with nasty cuts everywhere, makeshift bandages here and there and her clothes are all torn up. They even managed to not make it fanservice-y in the vein of: "Oh my! My shirt seems to have strategically ripped at just the right place to show off my toned abs glistening in the rain! Maybe I could use that to distract these cultists long enough to shove an arrow between their eyes.."

Granted, Inquisition will be telling a very different kind of story so it'd be strange having the Inquisitor walking around their stronghold in between bouts of questing and dungeon crawling with some giant, festering wound on their torso oozing pus.

And just for realism's sake, too. If you run into a burning building to save someone, you should probably be a little bit worse for wear afterwards.

Can you imagine the number of holes and scars you would have by the end of the game? You would be unrecognizable! LOL Every arrow, axe blow, sword cut.. Flame blast or cone of cold.... There would be nothing left. :D

Eh.

Fable kinda tried this and it looked like crap.

I'd really prefer my character not to look like a muscle freakshow just because he has high strength. That goes double for a female.

I doubt having injuries sustained from random fights and whatnot would look very good at all. But injuries sustained by events in the story could be doable. ME 3 had this with Shepard getting nosebleeds on two occasions, and having Shepard injured at the end. It looked good.

Short of actively deciding to change the way they do their hair or growing a beard, or getting in some sort of horrible, disfiguring accident, the appearance of an adult doesn't change dramatically over even several years, let alone one.

Watch my party members' faces slowly become pulpy masses of scar tissue? I'd rather not.

NO! I want to be pretty and young forever!

However, if they'd just give something like the mirror again then you could just do it yourself.

Scars would be nice - but that's because I like this aspect of character design.

But for facial hair and regular hair, there should be an option in the game, such as a barber who could restore the character to the original look, or even offer alternatives - and they would have to be around frequently. Can you imagine being in your favorite cutscene of the game - after your char has been in the 'woods' for 2 years, with big bushy beard, unwashed and unkempt hair ... not my favorite thing to imagine.

Aging would be something I would be against, tbh. I am old enough in RL, I don't need to see my character getting older and older. But, I don't think this would happen. I think that would take a lot of resources to build an implement, plus - what would be realistic enough? 2 cm or 5 cm hair growth in a year? Less? More?

It's a nice idea and it would add immersion to the game - but it may have it's ups and downs again as well.

Not for one year. That's not that long. But if it was like DA, I would love to see some changes over every 3 years. There were some chloth changes. However, the characters could get a little older look.

Please nothing like Fable. Pretty please with begging on top.  <_<

Other than that, if they want to model the slow, subtle changes of aging, I guess. Sure, Hawke's face should have changed over 10 years (and so should other peoples'). Could add some realism.

But it could be a waste of zots that could be better allocated for other things.

A lot of people are saying that what fable did was a bad idea. For the benefit of people like me who have not played fable, what exactly did fable do?

Google's your friend, but I'll help: Like most games these days, even Fable has its own Wiki.

Yes. It was strange in DAO seeing the same player model whether  I had 20 Strength or 100 Strength.

I don't know, how much time is passing over this? It's not 10 years like kirkwall again, is it?
