Would an implant upgrade count as steroid use?

I guess the implants would have to be approved by the commitee and only those approved could be used, it would classify as equipment like a bike or a rowing shell.

Red Sand would probably be the steroid equivalent.

I've never...

romanced Allers.

wussed out and had a teammate to take the shot when Shepard could make the kill herself. (Wrex, the VS). I did see Ashley kill Wrex on Youtube - damn is she gangsta.

I would figure different implants would be like weight classes, since we know L1<L3<L2 with L4 and L5 undefined. On that note, what implants do Sentinel Shep run after ME?

a biotic shep uses one of the L3 implants, though which version a sentinel uses I can't recall atm.

in 2185 they use L5s, shep was a biotic commando before then.

---edit
and swapping out implants in not advisable.

so, you're saying they wanted shepard as stock as possible and swapped out the implants, well I guess that makes sense. though I never really thought about it before.

It says so in the creation screen: L5n and L5x. They never say what the difference is though.

I never really paid attention to the creation screen, as I usually just selected the class shep was in me1. though, if you select say a sentinel in me2, and you we're an engineer in me1 can you have shep say something like... "what the hell, I was never a biotic before?"

Nah. The most you get is " I noticed a few upgrades." Canonically, all Sheps have biotic potential with two eezo exposures.

On topic: I've never played default Sheps.

Indeed. Hence how I headcanon biotic bonus powers on my infiltrator in both ME2 and 3. He has biotics. He was just never trained/developed. Lazarus made them slightly unstable but very devastating. As enemy mooks soon found out.

Oh really? When were these just out of interest, not something I've ever thought about.

On the ME Wiki, it says that in 2168 CE: "Shepard receives secondary exposure to element zero. Permanent biotic inclination manifests."

But that's just from the Wiki, I don't know if there is a source of this actually being canon.

It's on the mass effect wiki timeline. So maybe worth two grains of salt, but it's there. And one of the talk pages has a former writer for the first game clarifying the devkit timeline they were using when writing the game. So again, maybe canon, maybe not.

iirc, that's only from biotic shepards, non biotics don't have element zero exposures, or at least they didn't when I checked the timelines in-game.

---edit
though, that was a while ago.

---edit again
I've just checked the ingame timelines in all 3 games, there is no mention of shepard's element zero exposures, primary or secondary, even with a biotic shepard. checked other codex entries as well, no dice.

I've never done a NG+

Speaking of NG+, and horribly offtopic:

Once on some boards, there was the question: "which power from a videogame would you like to have?"

Some guy answer NG+. Genius.

I've never sent Ashley/Kaidan to work for Hackett after the coup. Funny how that's their only choice, them being a spectre and all.

I never was disappointed when Raan blew away Legion. Damn, she don't mess around.

I never had a problem frying the Geth either with or without peace.

I have never...
 - played as MaleShep.
 - romanced anyone else as Liara.
 - broke the romance in the trilogy.
 - finished the games without shedding some tears somewhere along the way.
 - picked anything else than the destroy ending.
 - liked the scripted action sh*t in the games (eva running towards you, rolling from the reaper beam, 85 seconds timing in cerberus base, and other sh*t like that)

 - left Ashley on Virmire.
