A large number of NPCs, and some objects, are missing textures rendering parts of them invisible. I've run into this issue several times since launch and no patch has seemed to fix it. Anyone know how to fix this?

PC Specs:

Core i7-2600k

Nvidia GTX 580

8GB RAM

Windows 7 64bit

I'm getting that too ever since I bought an new computer actually. Missing textures, black textures, transparent characters. It would be nice if to know if someone have a solution to that.

I've tried looking through the archived PC technical support forum but all I've found is fixes specific to the drivers Nvidia had out close to two years ago.

Downloading and installing the official hi res texture mod seems to have fixed the issue. Meeran has his lower arms now, anyway.

Interesting, I would try that, weren't for my computer that for some reason refuses to download the file. Did you also got an issue were the soundtrack wouldn't play at all at some points?

Haven't gotten the soundtrack issue, but the missing textures are still happening. I've ran into two elven women with no torsos so far. Sometimes there's issues even when the textures do show up. I've had a couple NPCs whose clothes and beards were distorted so badly it looked like the texture had exploded.

I see, so the texture pack doesn't really fix it. I don't think it's due to the windows being used considering I had an Windows 7 64 bit in my older computer and the game ran flawlessly. Perhaps it's an incompatibility duo to the graphic card or something.

Glad to see I'm not alone.

I first thought video drivers needed updating, but that didn't fix it. Was going to try re-downloading the hi-res pack, but doesn't sound like that's a fix either. Hope someone finds a fix and posts it here somewhere,

This fix an issue in DA2? How that works exactly?

If you have DA2 in the Origin launcher, go to your "My Games" page in it, right-click on the DA2 entry, and choose Repair Game.

This. Repair install should do the trick.

Well, I've tried everything suggested in this thread, and no go. How annoying.

No crashes, at least, and sometimes the visual result is amusing, but still......

What are the game settings? Graphics and textures? I can't remember DA2. I think I played on medium because I never download the high texture pack.

Not very helpful for those of us using a Steam copy.

I'm playing on maxed-out graphics. on DX11.

@KeraWildmane

Did you try it on medium textures, just to test it? I would check all the settings before I gave up :)

I actually did that and it worked. No texture issue whatsoever, at the cost of downgrading the visuals of course.

There's gotta be a way to fix this. It certanly have to do with the computer not handling the visual upgrade.

Have you tried downloading a HD texture patch on the Nexus?

http://www.nexusmods...e2/mods/3687/?

Another though is that it may be a Direct X issue. You can downgrade to 9 if your PC is having issues with 11.

For anyone still reading this....

Changing to DX9 vs DX11 solved the problem for me.

I just upgraded my Nvidia driver and the problem was mostly fixed. I still notice some annoying texture twitching from time to time tough, but still, much better now.

This issue still has not been fixed.  Using NVIDIA's most current (as of today) driver (350.12) the missing character textures abound consistently.  My assumption was that if a product is still officially sold, it should be officially supported. This needs to be fixed.

Yeah. It's been found out it's an Nvidia issue. New drivers are incompatible for some reason. I tested a couple of days ago and the texture issue still happens. You would think Bioware would remember that people still play DA2 today and would like some technical support.

Loading the file again usually solves the problem too, but it's a bore nonetheless.
