The common factor that sort-of allways bothered me about most Tali fanart is that she looks pretty. Maybe that's just the way Quarians are but it always seemed to me like her face and hair would be unkempt.

Frankly, I don't think their teeth would be in the best condition either given a diet consisting entirely of nutrient paste (orthodontically, at least - I'm sure you could chew something to clean them).

Well I guess I deserved that.

I don't think that's all they live off - the quarian accused of pickpocketing in ME2 says she's having to in a tone that suggests it's merely scraping by at pretty much rock-bottom to do so.

The codex entry on liveships makes it sound like sterilized, ground-up plant matter from the liveships is a staple of their diet. Meat is a luxury that they tend to overindulge in when available, with humorous results.

Tali during the party is somehow able to eat cheese. I don't remember how though (I think the emergency induction port would be a little too small).

You're in a suit your entire life (with no air conditioning).

But the suits must be temperature controlled, right? If not... the horror, to never know air conditioning. And on some of the planets my Shepards brought her to in ME1.

Tali describes it as an envrionment suit (and how even with it she's still cold on Noveria).

no air conditioning. Tali says it in Citadel DLC.

Originaly I was thinking something "Asguard" like, the asguard from Stargate SG1 and Atlantis.

Or, something that makes you happy they are wearing masks...... Even with the Asari around I didn't expect the Quarians to look quite that "Human" in the face.

I do have to admit that this pic...

...is my favorite, as well. It's very well done. Maybe just a bit too human.

Though, I have to say that I wouldn't have minded a more alien looking Tali, either. There's this one pic I really like...

...except for the dark shading on the nose. But everyone have their own taste, so it would've been hard for BW to please everyone. Still, anything would've been better than that stock image they used.

A completely sealed suit without any cooling sounds somewhat implausible. Was Tali drunk by that part? I can't remember, I think I was drunk too.

It's not completely sealed. It lets air and out through filters. And heat, obviously.

Never got why so many depicted her with purple skin, myself. Because her suit is purple? It's like people saying she ought to look like a Turian because they're both dextro (by that logic, clearly, humans and hanar ought to look exactly the same).

I agree. There's actually original brown versions of those pics here: http://k4ll0.tumblr....actually-reveal

I just posted those other pics because they were already in one of my pic folders. Though, I wouldn't see quarians brownish, either. Pale greyish maybe. :)

I like. Makes more sense as an adaptation for a species living in a desert environment. Our own skin pigmentation served the same purpose, high latitude or low.

Hmm, I didn't think of that. Yes, that would make the brown color suitable. Of course, why couldn't they have variations, as well.

Every species has variations. Not sure what biological purpose the asymmetrical "writing" on her face would serve, though... Cultural thing? Marked at birth?

Could be. The face model would look good without them, too. Of those two pics, I actually like the alien version more.

I think its because the skin of her face looks purple beneath the helmet. Of course her skin looks that way because the lens on the helmet is purple, but I think that is why a lot of fanart depicted her with purple skin.

Well, that explains it. I haven't played the DLC. All this time, I assumed the suits had a cooling/heating system. Poor quarians.

This will make my Shepard who romances her want to build that house on Rannoch even more. Air-conditioning included.

These are both really cool. I like the unique ear shape too.

For some reason, I imagine quarian skin tone ranging between pale purple -> gray -> brown -> red. I don't know why.

The ear shape would be in line with how their ears were described in the books. That is one of the reasons I disliked any fanart that depicted the Quarians as space elves with pointy ears.

Given that the Quarians evolved on an arid planet it would make sense for them to have a darker, rather than pale skin tone. Darker skin tones would protect against the sun. If we look at our own planet skin tones get darker in regions where the sunlight is more intense.
