The ear shape would be in line with how their ears were described in the books. That is one of the reasons I disliked any fanart that depicted the Quarians as space elves with pointy ears.

Given that the Quarians evolved on an arid planet it would make sense for them to have a darker, rather than pale skin tone. Darker skin tones would protect against the sun. If we look at our own planet skin tones get darker in regions where the sunlight is more intense.

The quarian description was in Ascension, right? I need to read that one again.

True about the skin tones, if it works the same way in aliens as in humans. When I say "pale" I was thinking more in terms of color - like a grayish shade of purple rather than a bright, vibrant purple. That picture is a pretty good representation.

Yes...it is page 235 if you still have the book. The description of the unmasked Quarian is extremely vague though. It was written back when Bioware still had a couple different concepts for the Quarians floating around.

Thanks, I just looked it up. I skimmed through that scene the first time I read it. At least it confirms that they have some form of visible ear, unlike some of the other aliens.

I always hoped Biower would make Tali look REALLY alien and bestial... This seemed fitting for two reasons; she was always kind of the 'voice of reason' for one of my Sheps (smart and good sense of humor) and it would make her somehow more endearing to my bro-Shep if she felt most humans would percieve her as 'hideous'

I see Tali differently. I pictured her mouth shaped just like the suite's mouthpiece. round. a perfect circle. Nothing remotely like a human mouth.

Her eyes just as people here depict; No pupil yet full of silver light.

Big straight and narrow nose (as seen through her face shield)

Hairless/Bald (not like Asari heads.)

Bluish/Grayish skintone

In other words... not beautiful in human terms, but beautiful in her alien naturalness. Beauty doesn't have to be human like.

Unfortunately, this was the first thing to come to mind from that description.

A round mouth always makes me think of the dementors from Harry Potter.

Perhaps the quarians' true reason for wearing masks is to keep their soul-sucking powers under control.  :o

Funny, I always expected Quarains to look kinda like they eventually ended up looking. The codex always mentioned, that they are the most humanoid alien species in the galaxy. It was also stated somewhere, that they are the only non-human species with hair on their scalp.

The one thing I did expect and that kinda dissapointed me, was the lack of visable cybernetics. I also find it unrealistic, that their skin is so pale.

I think he's thinking about the wikia, edited after ME3 came out to reflect what was in the photo.

Just had a funny thought, but i bet if they gave tali a face with african (black race) features most of her fans would have been repulsed . She and all aliens seem to have overwhelmingly caucasian features which i guess appeals to biowares fan majority. Most accept a version of her being drawn as a white/eurasian woman. Funny because Dean (Deantheyoung) predicted 3 years prior that her face would be a human face and would be modeled on a central asian or east asian woman and... it was. Just wonder if all biowares romanceable alien females in the galaxy will continue to look human and if so will they only come in the white or asian variety? Nevermind, I already know the answer to that!

Dunno; check their GDC talk. They are aware of it at least, which was in part what inspired me to start the thread on underwear.

I think they left themselves quite a bit of leeway if they ever want to make the Quarians have a few less human features. They've only ever shown a photoshopped pic of a single Quarian. Nothing in-game. Here's hoping they take the opportunity.. .

I hate to break it to you, but despite that photoshopped pic only appearing in games where Tali was romanced, it was still IN GAME.

Hardly. People of that ethnicity can be quite attractive. That said, this post seems to me like someone trying to get worked up over race, looking for a reason to be offended and assuming racial malice on the part of both Bioware and fellow players. Gotta say, it's kind of sad.

Besides, Hammasa Kohistani is from Afghanistan. Is she white now?

This is offensive. You just called most Tali fans racists.

Except she doesn't. Have you seen the picture...?

If so, that would be a codex entry reflecting Bioware's choices regarding Tali's appearance (and the Quarians as a whole) in ME3.

Prior to ME3 Bioware had a few difference concepts floating around for Tali, and her ME3 appearance certainly wasn't locked in as far back as ME1. Prior to any ME3 any description of the Quarians was left deliberately vague.

Yes, but judging by her in-game face model alone it seems clear BW never wanted her to look very alien.
