What!?  You guys started without me!?  Bah!

All joking aside, I'll check it out.  Thanks Cknarf!

I'm new to RPing on this particular site, so can someone can fill me in on the going's on around here?  I'd like to join the RP, but I want to make sure I'm cool with everyone and everything first.

It's always great to have another character.  I especially enjoy the ones who actually stick around after joining up. Those are like, the best, man.

Sometimes it's difficult to get new people worked into the story, but since we're on a hub world, it should make things easier. Still, everyone's a little busy right now, with the whole 'repelling an assault on Afterlife' thing, so it might take a bit.  Looks like things should be wrapping up shortly though.

Aaaanyways.  The first post in the index has quite a bit of info you might want to look into. It's got links to active characters, as well as recently-added 'place markers' near the bottom of the post.  My advice would be to click on the 'Omega's Cult' place marker, and read from there, to kind of get an idea of what's going on currently.

Political corruption. Military Industrial Complex. Crime lords. We're not Alliance. The Spectre is mine since I'm sort of running the main plot. She's Asari, 350 yrs old, pardoned criminal (see page 1 for her entrance) her name is Naleena. Our ship is called the Janiri. It is owned by the Council - It's a military ship but due to the length and type of mission it is civilian comfort by design. Not all crew is military. Some of the technical staff is civilian. Naleena had her shuttle's AI installed on the ship - VERA. She's a Model 2251A. The crew is a dirty dozen.

Naleena is not above getting her hands dirty to solve a problem. She just won't kill innocents. She never has even when she was an assassin - call it a character flaw. She's ill trained to be commanding a ship so the stress is getting to her. She smokes and drinks. So yeah smoking and drinking is permitted. But she is 100% badass. I designed her to be a combination of Sydney Bristow and Jack Bauer except a criminal. Now she works for the good guys. Throw in the "sophisticated as hell" trope and you've got her. She loves leather coats... black ones.

We're in the middle of the boss fight in Afterlife.

We're immediately after ME2. The Normandy left Omega while we were investigating the station. Our current assignment is find Prothean artifacts and investigate anything about the reapers for the Council. Shepard kept the Collector Base and turned it over to Cerberus. She's in deep sh*t with the Council and the Alliance. Most of her team went their separate ways from the Normandy on Omega, and the few remaining stayed with her. She is stuck working for The Illusive Man because she has nowhere else to go - this is logic, and for our purposes is now out of the picture. I needed to get Shepard gone to do this, yet have some sort of continuity.

Our plot - Arrival happened after Horizon. There was no evidence of Reaper invasion. It doesn't happen then. Shepard was played. I'm ignoring Mac Walters stuff. Just forget everything you know about Mass Effect 3 because never happened. We're continuing from immediately after the end of ME2. We have a deep space exploration ship. It's an Asari prototype and part of the Council's secret fleet.

* We have to finish up this fight, and do the aftermath. This could take one to two weeks - just warning you.

PS: If you decide to join, and have a side adventure you'd like to do, run it by me, and we'll run it by the group and see if we can work it in. This should involve something to do with your character's personal history. Those usually are the best.

Okay, I left it open for Frank, or someone, to put this guy down for good (but leaving him able to say his last words, like SGJ asked), or, well, Iole might get it.  Alternatively, it is also open for Julia to have him say his thing now. Alternatively, something else too ;)  Anyway, the scene can play itself out as I left it open for whatever.

Oh, and Mira is done.

Wow  I think the cult leader meat heap should maybe use the part of his face that's left to talk before he realizes hamburger is not a sentient life form

Let's just say maybe one of the last rounds winged him lol.

I'm going to be so depressed if there was any friendly fire after that one.  I am at your mercy, guys.

At first I really thought that Mira was about to die

A good thing the salarians are such good doctors, they can nearly fix everything. It's a shame that I didn't had one last week when I was sick and that was just a cold.

....

It could have gone that way.  The idea was floated and I don't know if the story will be better or worse with how it has gone, but it is what it is.  The idea is that her living will continue things in a more interesting way than if she wasn't around.

Hey man, you never know.  My wife watches that Grey's Anatomy, and those doctors be killin' ALL their patients.

"Call it."

"Time of death, 12:06 PM"

*doctors immediately start banging*

Pffffft.  That show, man.  I tell ya.

Player characters > than npcs, though the Commandos are kind of a special case.

Mira's around because it forwards the story of a player character.  That, at least, was my main justification.  Cause I could have seen her dying.

Yeah, the commandos are a special case. I thought we were going to lose Mira. Hell, I thought we were going to lose Morgan.

Also I think Arian, Frank, Vayne, and Anika can get new suits of armor if they want them. Aria is springing for that. I remember Vayne's armor was pretty much patchwork. Arian's was piecemeal. Frank's was always on the verge of being gone. And Anika's took rounds in the back from a gunship - so she could get a new suit of the same if she wants. Note: Colossus armor from Kassa Fabrications is available in Human (Asari), Turian, Krogan, and Quarian models.

Vayne's got good armor already, he got it taken care of on the Citadel. XD Essul might need new armor, given I plan the widow to have taken a tool on his armor as well as his body. ((Loss of shoulder armor due to consistent high kinetic blowback.)). Also his helmet got pretty messed up in general.

I'm just thinking of what to type to be honest. Dealing with a lot of irl stuff regarding my family and brother has taken a toll on my creativity. And I really, really, want to convey my chars emotions and thoughts and stuff.

Good luck Jensaarai, with all the stuff.

I came to post to say I am really thrilled to see the Medusa link, and I'll add that to the index asap.

Yep. I want to get a resource of all things Medusa going on as I plan to bring the ol'gal back into the mix.

It's also my effort to get back into the driving seat of that narrative. I've kinda fallen off lately. I only want to mount it once more. Mount it and ride! Ride it hard into the sunrise baby! Yeeeah!

There's so many goodies to be had from the Jess and Anika story arcs.

I'm glad to see Anika's story arc start coming to life.

You've got your hands full with the Medusa, too.

If ya'll haven't noticed, Frank is rather fond of his busted ass armor.

Still, he won't say no to free s***. Who would?

We'll get him an even bulkier set of heavy. Turian chicks'll dig it.  Maybe even some krogan...

WAIT. Scratch that.

Okay, it is like this.

I seriously want to do certain things okay?  So I am going to purposely not write certain things so I can get others done, or wait on what I need to so they get done.  It was probably the description of writing Babe, believe it or not, which threw the switch.  That's because I wanted to do...if one can imagine, a lot more with the description....though I won't say where...

But even with all my entries, the risk is if I devolve into certain arcs, I start having not main characters be my main characters, I start having one part of a complex story eclipsing another part, and pretty soon I'm a victim of the squeeky wheels in my head getting all the attention when I want to purposely devote time to things that are already there, behind the scenes or not.

So...if I don't pay as much attention to all and each and every commando, don't feel like I've forgotten about them.  @SGJ, sorry, that also means Faed.  Right now, the two characters I want to pay more attention to are Morgan (that includes the insanity with Babe and Amy on the Medusa by the way) and Molly.  The other stuff, sure, as it can be fit in.  Which it absolutely will be.

Okay, that's de scoop today.  You watch, tomorrow I will probably totally ignore my own advice.  Squeeky Wheels are powerful forces, and are never to be underestimated...

@Kel - well don't lose the information I gave you. It's important, even though Faed is your Dahlia. :P

Once Naleena has relaxed a bit, she'll make an appearance. She'll first go to Med-Bay to see her fallen commando. Then check on the rest of the team. Then see Molly.

Molly needs her part, but the short version is Morgan is my main character, and the story revolving around him and Jess and Iyana is my focus, even if I leave it for a while.  That includes tying that story to all of you.
