Oh, no, I'm talking about a character I previously made for a fanfiction, which has never been in this roleplay before. At all. I'm literally new to the whole concept of this roleplay. :)

Just after ME2... My pre-made character would have survived Freedom's Progress and would have suffered psychological damage from watching all of the people being taken from that... It would have been also after she was shot in the hip on Omega, but before her family was killed by the Reapers. Right. That gives a year gap for things to happen in between 2185 and 2186. That's fine. Her canon fits around it. :) I'll use her. I think. It depends whether she's compatible.

Even though Doctor Hayashi is of Japanese descent, with the Kimono and white boots, I can't help but invoke the sense of this image:

Uhura-star-trek-the-original-series-4279

@Penguin:  probably talk to Shotgun Juila about your character, and I'm sure everyone here will chime in.  Nobody is the boss per se, but there are 3-4 of us pushing different story arcs (I'm thinking Jensaarai is now with Machaera).  For me, I'll express concern about adding another Spectre and ship immediately into the mix.  Now I'm not saying don't do it, but I know you aren't familiar with the story and I'd let you know that only two characters in the 160+ pages of the story are spectres, and one is on hiatus, the other (Julia's) was basically added with discussion.  Most characters are not Commander Shepard level, although personally there is a definite line drawn between players who have greater abilities than even most important NPCs.  Like Cknarf said, I think, somewhere, nobody is in charge, but for my plot at least I would have to work as the story goes on to integrate your character over time so that you didn't basically go OP on everything I'm doing.  I only speak for me, so again, hopefully the others will chime in.

I'm not sure the two spectre thing would work very well.

Meet the boss: Naleena T'sarius. She's now a Council Spectre. She wasn't originally one. She's a criminal that did a heel face turn. Our "fearless leader" at the time was on a very long hiatus. We were finishing up a mission and wondering what to do next. I had a full plot ready. It is outlined in quite some detail. There were a slight number of retcons done - like ME3 isn't happening when it does because story time wise it hasn't been written yet. Our actions impact the future. Reaper indoctrination was added to since they were still working on that in the story at the time. This has evolved into a Mass Effect AU now.

We chose a few canons: 1) The Council survived. 2) The Rachni survived. 3) The Illusive Man has the Collector Base.

And now we picked up the story with a plot outline based on events outlined in Cerberus Daily News, supported by the books, alluded to in some of the comics, and logically concluded by a committee.

To run this plot we needed a Spectre. Naleena was added with discussion. She's my character. She's a "plot" character more or less now, but as the plot writer I can make her life a living hell. A Spectre does what is necessary to get the job done no matter the cost. However in this version of the MEU, I took obscure lore and expounded on it. There's a structure to the Spectres. Naleena, for example, reports to Spectre Supervisor Yalson Sao. Sao is mentioned in Cerberus Daily News. Someone, after all has to make sure that Spectres file reports, turn in their hours, and get paid. The Council doesn't want them digging through dumpsters, looting corpses, and robbing bank ATMs, although the game it certainly seemed that way.

Kel said most characters are not Shepard-level. Joining this RP as another Shepard-level Spectre? I say another because of this scene.

What I would recommend is that you strip out the Spectre and ship stuff, and your character should be fine. Characters need to be part of the team. They need to fit into the story. Be careful not to OP over anything we're doing. And you should figure out some kind of story arc that you want for your character.

I have 4 characters in this.

* Naleena - plot - but I get to play her as a character in other people's plots such as the Iyana plot.

* VERA - sort of community property, but I have ownership. She's plot and the ship's AI. She's my means of dispensing analyzed information, and providing characters with correct analyses if the character is in communication and comes to the wrong conclusion IF VERA has the same data.

* Faed - plot character. Not a shooter and only Vayne has gotten to know him. He was formerly Kel's. Kel was a bit overextended and this is a long story.

* Irina - fun - same as with Naleena, but I get to interact with the crew of the ship more because she does not have any proprietary information. Irina is messed up from serving on Elysium and on Torfan.

* Dahlia - in woodwork - I need to figure out what to do with her.

I do have some experience with role-playing, but when we did it we always used *s rather than writing it like a story, so I'm looking forward to doing this. :)

It is possible for two Spectres to work together, such as Shepard and Jondum Bau. I see your point, however. I am somewhat reluctant to change the character herself, but as I said - she is an unlisted Spectre at this point, not a full one - so not Shepard-level. She has a badge, yes. But she is unlisted in all servers. The council was using her more as a glorified police officer than a Spectre.

In terms of the ship - I am aware that her vessel was attacked by slavers around this time, so it could be in for repair.

Okay. Prepare to meet us on Omega. The station isn't what it used to be. SEE THIS POST and read onward for what happened. It was a case of mass indoctrination - affected the limbic systems etc., except I did a little Stephen King and added something mundane to the mix - prions. There was always something missing to indoctrination, otherwise a child could come up with a countermeasure. Read about prions. They're quite scary little things.

Afterlife is a bit of a mess right now. There is a large homeless population - temporary. You may see teams from Eldfell-Ashland Energy, Elkoss Combine (Volus), Anotaria Industries (Asari), and Paranth Industries (Turian) surveying the damage to the station. EAE is getting that fusion reactor back online and is bringing in temporary housing.

Find yourself a bar - make up a name. I'm sure there are other hot spots on Omega that are fighting for Aria's business, at least in the short term, even though we know that Aria's muscle has moved in and she's getting a larger share of their profits now. Omega still has the one rule and one rule only.... although she's been convinced to go more Michael Corleone.

Right. Thanks. I might start it when Sophia has just arrived on Omega and is needing of a drink - in particular because of the events at Freedom's Progress and Horizon. Is that alright? Or shall I make it so she is aware of what is going on?

Maybe Sophia is searching for a bar that is a bit different than others. For the background story of my character I created a place on Omega called Flaming Fury (http://forum.bioware...entry18641049). In that club there are a few side characters I created so there could be some interaction for your character if you like.

Did I just kill it? I hope not.

@Penguin - the events on Omega would have been on the news. If Sophia watches the news she would have seen it. However, she should be a bit shocked by the actual state of things. Flaming Fury. Good call, Maj. The usual canon characters are on Omega. The Batarian Preacher is dead.

No don't worry. :D

Like, the other day I woke up ready to go, but I had other stuff to write. So I did those and came here and was like, "Finally, I'm going to post some stuff for Machaera" and then sat there like, "...I can't think of what to post."

I hope things will be resolved on Eingana in the next couple of days. We'll head to Omega for refueling and liberty. Then it will be onward to the next mission.

Post is fine. You might want to get some bad news about the ship while in the bar. lol. You know .. damage was worse than first thought.

A word about what's going on: Aria is actually trying to help the people a bit right now. It is in her best interest so she doesn't have a riot on her hands. She cut a deal with the four parties and it means profit for her. She is an Asari Matriarch after all.

She thinks Naleena is one of the few times the Council didn't screw up. Naleena is a grey liner, not a white knight out to reform the galaxy. You'll probably want to think about doing something bad ass over the next few days and time it for when Naleena arrives.

@penguin:  I'll say as you can imagine, a lot has happened in 160 pages, and while I wouldn't expect anyone to read it all at once, I would take it on bit by bit as you write and the story progresses.  There's a Character thread, and an Index thread for this story, for some reference.  Here are the story arcs I see happening simultaneously:

1.  Julia's plot:  You're definitely in on this if you are on the Janiri as it unfolds.  It's the big Spectre arc thing with Reapers and AI and all that stuff that you know has to do with the galaxy changing and holy mother of ***@@T%$$$.  Big f**king hero stuff (amidoinitrite Julia?)

2.  The Drowned Aspire and possibly a new one regarding an asari named Yeli:  RedBelle's stuff.  The Drowned Aspire are a Collector mutant hybrid off-shoot thing.  They're really monstrous.  The asari Yeli is a new add, recently escaped after having commanded the building of several Geth Armatures in secret on the Citadel. Or almost building them, if it weren't for those meddling kids...

3.  Iyana:  The monster with a human face.  That's my villain-almost character.  She's laden with plot armor, once having been the premier enforcer for The Shadow Broker, now has struck out on her own since Liara took the mantle.  There's a handful of lieutenants under her who are formidable 'bosses' on their own, and a veritable nation of resources at her fingertips.

4. Machaera:  That's a new add from Jensaarai.  A brutal batarian who is soon to have his own rogue's gallery of nefarious villains.  He's already scary and gonna be a problem for sure.

Beyond that, most characters are on the Janiri.  A few are on the Medusa which is RedBelle's pirate vessel working with the team.  There are important characters, important villains, important npc's, cool people, scrubs and other stuff all going around.  There have been a few cameos from Mass Effect but I am a strong minority of one when I say screw them the important characters are ours :)

*oh and there's a sister story, called Stormhammer, happening in the same universe, but that's something else.

Yeah. The damage would be quite bad - the slavers used what would be best described as grappling hooks propelled using mass effect fields - so they went rather far into the ship itself.

Sophia basically is rather of the opinion that Aria is the one keeping Omega stable, so would probably be willing to assist her if necessary.

Bad-ass? Right. Okay. :)

I did take a look at some of the pages throughout the roleplay but I'm kind of doing Geology coursework at the moment also so I didn't get to read it all. Thanks for the kind of summary. I'll see what happens to see if Sophia will get involved with any of the current arcs.

To be honest you're not the only one with that opinion on the Mass effect characters, Kel  :D I just feel like I've seen enough of them in the games.

I have a vision of this plot as a grey-grey morality, good is not dumb, crapsack galaxy where underneath the sheen of the Citadel and shining jewels of galactic civilization lies the underbelly of cutthroat politics where people champion an agenda only if it suits their own personal quest for power, industrial espionage (which we haven't got to yet), the "old money" of the galaxy, assassinations, and where good people die like dogs and no one cares about them. Now we have the Spectres, reapers, and the galaxy is changing. The plot is huge. It's in three acts. We're finishing the first part of Act 1.

Yes there are cameos of canon characters. There's really no way around it, but Shepard's team except for the occasional cameo is gone. The cameo by Shepard was the "passing of the torch" scene. Because of her history as the first human Spectre (In history, Admiral Hackett would get credit for the victory at The Battle of the Citadel), there will be some news items that pop up from time to time up to a point not because it involves Shepard, but because of what it implies in the bigger picture.

From the end point of ME2, nothing is canon. This is our story within the framework of the MEU.

*high fives Maj0nese*

Since the Reaper invasion was put off for 10 years in our story, you don't even have to say ME3 isn't canon.  Because it isn't even happening in the scope of our story.

Unless the story timeline goes 10 years long.  In which case, I'll probably be posting entries from a nursing home.

I owe work in Stormhammer, which I'll get to.  My entries here in CS are on hold for today.  I want to make them but not enough has progressed for me to forge ahead.

Sorry for the long delay guys. I've been writing something since this morning, but had to bail to take care of other stuff. I came back, needed to write some stuff, and realized I needed to look up some info. So I opened the mass effect wiki and it crashed my whole browser.

Now all my stuff is gone. :crying: #writerworldproblems.
